Tears streaked the tiny brunette’s eyes as she dashed away from the scene of the crime. Shayne had completely broken not only herself, but she had seen the hurt in James Hale’s eyes. She knew that what he had said was the truth, but she was still so broken and untrusting. Somehow she managed to ruin every good thing that walked into her life. It was so hard for her to keep something lasting in her life, but that was so far from ever happening. Every time that Shayne Brennan had ever had something good in her life it had been ripped from her, or she had found a way to ruin it herself. So that had been the problem the poor thing had worked herself up so much to the point that she had lost the one person that she loved. She had known that James Hale loved her, and somehow she had pushed him away and did not trust him. That was why she was running away from it all with tears in her eyes trying to find the one person that knew how to talk her down when she was an emotional mess. Landon Cambridge was her rock whenever things happened to her, well him and Andy Carson, but she was currently living with Landon trying to get her shit together. Her mind was completely gone and the only thing she could think about was getting home she wanted Landon to take her home, because she knew better than to try and drive when she was like this.
Shayne was avoiding her best friend and birthday girl Vidette Garland at the moment because that girl was going to have a lot of explaining to do. How could she not tell her that there was another sister running around the world? They were supposed to be best friends, and how does one forget to inform someone of that. Especially whenever Vidette more than likely knew what her sister was capable of. Instead Shayne was forced to try and figure everything out on her own and tried to find Landon in the sea of masks and disdain. Her eyes were red and puffy, and that was when she reached up and pulled the mask from her face so she could get a better view of what was going around her. That was whenever Shayne finally caught sight of her freakishly tall best friend. She felt like she was moving in slow motion as she crossed to where Landon was standing by the gift table. It was like everyone around her could see that something was terribly wrong with the girl that wore the brave face. Shayne hide everything but this heartbreak was something she had been trying to prepare for and yet the heartache still hurt even worse knowing that she was the wrong one. She had judged it all wrong, and she was that much more broken by the fact that he was so hurt by her.
All Shayne could muster to do was raise her eyes and wrap her arms around him. She buried her head in his chest and sobbed. The brunette was completely broken. There was nothing to fix this, and she knew that too well. This heartache was a million times worse than whenever her life had nearly been taken from her at Kaler’s hands. That was easily fixed because she had not lost her best friend, but now she had lost the person she loved and cared more about than most anyone. She tried to speak, but the sobbing would not subside. She finally chocked out “We broke up. I was wrong.” That was all she could manage to speak and she hoped and prayed to God that Landon would understand and know what to do. She could not be here anymore around the smiling faces, and if Shayne found the bitch that had ruined her relationship and planted something that was not true....Shayne Brennan would kill her. “Landon take me home, please? I can’t be here.” It was the truth, but she knew better than to let herself be alone. She knew that if she did that she would end up on a bathroom floor somewhere in the house. It seemed that was what she did whenever she was that upset. Tears streaked her cheeks as she just wanted him to make the hurt go away. Jem had never cheated on her, and she could tell it in his eyes whenever they danced their little breakup tango. Now she was going to have to deal with making one of the worst mistakes of her life and she honestly had no idea how she was going to do it.

What the hell. Was there even a reason of why he was here? Sure, he knew Vidette and her now apparent twin sister, Stella. But he didn’t know them that well. He only knew them from his best friend. And she didn’t want to go alone, so he offered to go, just for some support type of thing. There was no need for him to be there, but like stated, it was just for her. His best friend, Shayne Brennan, told him he needed to wear a mask and somewhat dress up. Well, Landon was never the one to dress up. That’s right; Landon Cambridge was never the one to dress up in formal attire, unless it was for a wedding, like for his friend Miranda’s wedding. So, what exactly did he wear? Well, he did, unfortunately rent a suit and found a mask. It wasn’t hard to tell who he was. He was tall for crying out loud. He was only doing this for her, and he was actually thankful for coming. It got him out of the house; otherwise it would’ve been sitting at his house with his sister gossiping all night about some guy and her friends. And he really didn’t want to listen to that, so he just gave in and came along for the fun, though he had seen no point in fun here, especially when he didn’t know half the people here. That was stupid though, but whatever, it wasn’t his party so he didn’t have a say in this so much. He was just going to entertain himself by the gift table, where right next to it was the drinks and little munchies. That got his attention, and he just reached over and grabbed himself a glass of champagne, and a little snack.
So here was Landon, at a party, all by himself while Shayne was somewhere off. He wasn’t going to follow her; he was just going to let her have her own fun and everything. And he was hoping he didn’t have to do anything tonight. He just stood there; his arms crossed and scanned the area. It was packed, and it was something he was used too sometimes. There wasn’t anyone he talked to in there, mostly because he didn’t know them at all. Most of them were probably acquaintances he had met a time or two. He sighed softly, grabbing another glass and brought it up to his lips. It wasn’t the usual drink he had, but it was an occasion, so he would just deal with it until he gets back to his house and probably open up his liquor and have some of that. He wasn’t a big drinker, but when he did drink, it was funny to see, probably because he was the same as he is without drinking. It was all just random bullshit that he says and what not. I’m pretty sure there are some blackmailing photos out there of him that he didn’t know about. It wouldn’t surprise him at all if there were any. Landon gave a content sigh, looking around the room again. It was the same people and the same reason they all were there. People kept coming and going and all this stuff. He just made himself perfectly content at where he was, there was no way he was bothering people nor was he in their way. The spot was just perfect for him then, considering he had no other spot to be at. He wasn’t bored, he was just the opposite of it; he was amused by this.
There was a thud against his chest, then arms going around him. He looked down to see Shayne. His arms wrapped around her, his chin resting slightly on her head. He hated seeing her like this; he’s seen it to many times. Each time it had just bothered him more. Landon was trying to coo her. Just trying to get her to calm down a bit, but he knew that probably wouldn’t happen just yet. His hand was rubbing her back as he tried to calm her down. Shh, I’m here now.
Landon said softly. Landon understood what she was saying. It wasn’t that hard too, he’s known her for so long to understand everything she meant and does. Landon could read her like a book; he could read anyone like a book. It was easy for him too. Landon pulled back, looking down at her again and gave a short nod. He took the stupid mask off his face, putting it inside of the suit jacket and wrapped an arm around her as he led them outside. He was glad that he actually drove, and to make it all better, he drove at the right speed and not a maniac this time. That was an accomplishment for him. Reaching the car, he unlocked it, and got Shayne in before he went around and got himself in. Once he got himself in, he started the car and drove off back to his apartment. There was no way he was going to bring her back to her own house, he rather not have her on the bathroom floor crying. He would rather her be with him, at least it would be good enough not let him worry about her if anything. He still would have too, but not as much. Landon pulled into the apartment complex and parked instantly. There was no ‘you always park here’ sign, so he just parked wherever he wanted. He turned the car off, running around to the other side and grabbed Shayne. He tried to give a smile, but it was a failed attempt. He sighed contently as he lead them both into the apartment and to his actually apartment space. Getting there, he opened the door, leading her in first then himself as he closed it. Go change into something comfy.. Or go take a long bath and I’ll get the tequila and bring it up there for you. I’m sure there’s some bubble shit under the sink if you want that too. Landon said, taking off his jacket and setting everything down on the table he set near the door. He didn’t know which one she was going to do, but he did know she would have to travel up stairs either way. He watched her head up the staircase and he went into his kitchen, grabbing the tequila out of their cupboard. status: finished tagged: shayne words: 1081 notes: for a sick attempt, this is okay. . .[/blockquote][/blockquote]

Shayne had no idea how she was still standing as she looked for Landon in the party. The last place she wanted to be was surrounded by smiling happy faces, knowing that the one man that had ever actually loved her and wanted her was gone. She honestly could not believe that she had made this kind of mistake and ruined everything that had been going well in her life. James Hale had picked up the broken pieces of her love life, and now Shayne had completely demolished all of the good that he had done with her. It was enough to make a girl just crumble under everything, and to be perfectly honest she had no idea how she was still standing. She had almost lost the movement in her legs as she started to hunt down Landon. That was the only thing that was able to race through her mind as she waited to see her freakishly tall best friend lurking somewhere. He was the only person that would understand everything that was going on with her. Landon was there when no one else was did, and he was the only one who would be able to do what needed to be done. Shayne had thought about driving herself to this party, and now she was so grateful that she did not. Tears streamed down her cheeks, her eyes red and puffy but what was she to do? Go gravel knowing that she had made a mistake and that she wanted James back, no. That was never going to happen and she knew that; that man was never going to want to look at her again. The even worse part was that eventually they were going to have to see each other and work through everything because they did in fact work together. They were a good team when it came to working in the emergency room, but that was besides the point. Now she was crushed, and that was the end of it.
The brunette spotted Landon by the gifts and drinks, and when she had made her way over to him it was like a ton of bricks hit his chest. Shayne had managed to get herself there but it was not enough to keep her standing after that. She needed Landon to keep her feet on the ground, but she was completely broken. Immediately her arms wrapped around him, and then his strong arms had her. Shayne was finally safe from all the hurt and the pain that was aching at her. The brunette had no idea what she was going to do. He had his head on hers, and his arms started to run along her back. Landon was the perfect person for her, and she knew that. He always had her back, and that was the worst part in the world. Shayne was always a mess that was crying and making her life a complete mess. There were days that she really questioned why she stayed in Arietta, because she would be helping everyone else out if she left. If she had never come here then she would not have had her life nearly taken from her, or broken a good man’s heart. She was good at ruining good things in her life, and there was Landon to hold her and help her try and piece herself back together. The pieces were going to be held together with tape, this was not going to be an easy fix at all. His voice was soothing, if only for just a moment. All of her choppy words had been enough to get him to understand exactly what was going on, and he knew what she meant and why she said it whenever she needed to leave. Honestly Shayne had no idea how she was going to pull herself together after this one, but here she was trying to stay strong. VIdette would definitely be getting a phone call to explain what the hell happened and why she felt it necessary to keep something like this from her best friend. For now she would be content to just get the hell away from the party and find a place to have some solace to herself.
Landon got her to the car and put her in the passenger seat, and Shayne did not care how he drove. From the way that the car was moving though, it felt like he was driving the speed limit. It was a huge change to know that he was driving carefully, but she was in her own little world that there was nothing that could make this better for her. Shayne was a mess and was having a hard time stopping the tears that were continuously falling from her cheeks. They reached the apartment, and by this time she was just numb. It felt like every piece of who she was just slipped from her. She was just there, and Landon lead her to the apartment and got her inside. It was something that she just wanted to get over with. She wanted to be there and be happy, and yet she was so heartbroken that she could barely understand what Landon was telling her. Something about changing or going to take a bath, but she had no idea what she was going to do. She just kind of stood there blankly completely unaware of what was going on around her, but she did hear tequila. Shayne looked up at Landon, and watched as he moved around the kitchen, but that was why she started up the stairs. Shayne knew that this was not going to be pretty, but she made her way to the bathroom. She turned the water on, but that was it. It was almost as soon as she started that she just slumped. The brunette did manage to turn the water off before she had slumped to the floor. There she was, just in the same spot that Landon had been trying to keep her out of. There she was in the middle of the bathroom floor just laying there.
That was when she heard the bathroom door open, and she tilted her head slightly as it turned. She knew that there would be disappointment in his eyes from where she was currently located. “Why? Why do I do this to myself?” She mumbled softly and could feel her best friend moving closer to her to sit next to her. As soon as he was on the floor, Shayne managed to wiggle closer to him and set her head in his lap. He was the only one that would make any of this better, but there she was crying her eyes out again. She could barely pull herself together to speak at all. This was just a mess, and she had no way to pull herself out of this one now. She had ruined her and Jem, and that was a fact. She turned her head up to Landon and spoke softly “I would be completely lost without you.” She tried to smile, but it was hard to get her lips to cooperate and all she could think about was the mess she had once again created with her life.

Landon knew the ritual of things that happened in his life. It wasn't that hard to figure out actually. If they are good, it was celebrated by tequila and other drinks, and he would end up on his bed the next day wondering what the hell had happened last night. If it was a bad thing, he would still get the tequila, only this time, he would have it until he lost the memory of what happened. Either way, he would make sure he forgot what had happened tonight. He had made sure he had enough alcohol for him to have for now, and whenever he would need them again. He was never a drinker, but Landon drank when it was needed. And tonight, was one of those nights where he was going to be up all night drinking away his memory of this night. In his mind, he kept replaying the things that had happened so far over and over again. He wanted to get rid of it, but he couldn't, it just hurt him too much to even let it go for right now. All he cared about was Shayne. And right now, she needed him more than ever. And he wasnt going to even leave her behind to deal with this on her own, she was going to need help, and Landon was going to give it to her, after all, he was there for her for everything, and he wasnt going to just up and leave her this time. No, he was going to stick with her until she was alright.
Standing in the kitchen, he reached up, setting his hands on the cupboard and opening it, getting the tequila out. You guessed it, it was one of those nights. It was a depressing night, especially for Shayne, and he had hoped she was in one place he kept getting her out of. He knew where she could be, but he was hoping he was wrong on it. He had at least three bottles in the cupboard, but he only grabbed two, just to be safe, because he knew they were going to be up most of the time until they both fell asleep on the floor... Or hopefully Landon could lift her onto the bed she's been staying at. He sighed softly, hoping still that she wasnt on the bathroom floor, where Landon hated her at. He never understood why a bathroom floor. It wouldve been better for her to be in the bedroom or the living room or something, but no, it was the bathroom. He just let that be, but she knew how much he hated it and tried to keep her out of it. Heading up the stairs, he kept the memories running in his mind; it was Landon, he wasnt going to keep something away until it disappeared on it's own or he had to do something about it, and he knew that Shayne wouldn't approve of anything he did. He had already broke his hand, he didn't need more injuries.
He got to the bathroom and opened the door. He wasnt surprised with what he had saw. It was the same thing he was hoping she wasnt at. There Shayne was, in the bathroom on the floor. Landon sighed softly, trying to hide the bit of disappointment in his sigh. He wasnt going to bother with it now, but he had to make sure she stopped crying in the bathroom and having that as her safety spot. He shut the door behind him, careful enough to NOT step on her. He found himself leaning against the wall, eventually sliding down and sitting on the tile. He set the bottles down, having his hands come up to his shirt and lost the tie and un-buttoned the top button. He already looked like he was hung over just by how he had his attire, but he was wrong, he was just loosening it up. He wasnt at no party anymore, so he could be how the hell he wanted to be. Landon watched her, trying to get comfortable with her head on his lap as she just laid there still. Landon went on to listen to her little stuff. Last time he had tried to help, he got yelled at. So, he had to try to fix his wording on things and try to say the right things instead of othe wrong things. It was a habit of his, but he always managed to break it some how, then it would start back up again. He looked down at her, trying to see her weak smile, but it wasn't working so much. He felt bad for her, he really did. He hated seeing her like this, a lot.
You let other people get to you. You shouldn't have listened to that Rockie girl, and went with your gut. But, she just kept saying 'Yeah, I saw him with this girl'. Landon started. He opened up one of the bottles that were sitting right next to him, then took a sip of his own. He was going to leave the one open and near him just in case she wanted some as well.. Well, obviously she was going to want some, because hell, it was a Lando/Shay thing to drink Tequila together. There was no doubt about that. He had to think about what else he was going to say, but he wasn't going to put the blame on her for it.. That's what it sounded like earlier, but sure as hell it wasnt. You need to start trusting yourself in the decisions.. You have to think 'Do I really want to believe them, or should I follow my gut feeling and stick with it'. Because it will help you in the end love. Landon added after a few moments of silent. He was going to figure this out by the words he was saying. If anything, he could change the subject to himself and all this other stuff. But, for now, he was going to keep the subject on this, until they were both ready for a different subkect to be talked about.
Then she went on to questioning herself. Well, more like, what would she do without Landon, or anybody in her life type. Landon would have a hard time answering that one, because, he couldn't think of his life without Shayne in it. And he knew it would be hard on her too if he wasnt in her life at all. Landon gave a small shrug, then a little laughter. Well, without me, You would be somewhere in Arietta, without two super duper best friends, and having more problems than needed.. Not to mention lonely, but since you DO have me... Well, i guess life is complete. Landon said. Okay, he was trying to lighten the mood up a little bit, hoping that it would work a little bit. He was slowly going to take her mind off of everything, and bring it to at least he was hoping, better times and something completely different that what happened tonight. He figured she was going to be calling Vidette or Stella or whoever else knew about this whole shit-hole stuff. Landon was going to stay out of that part, he didnt know the girls well enough to actually pick a fight or find the truth. If anything, Landon would go find his own way to get the truth of it all. And he sure as hell wasn't going to do that as much as he would want too because of the last time. He wasn't going to hurt Shayne again, because the last time that happened, resulted him in a hospital room getting his hand casted.

Shayne was a mess and she was well aware of what it was going to do to her. Nine times out of ten whenever something major happened in her life her baby brother was called to pick up the pieces. Over the past couple of months she had avoided having to have those conversations letting him know what was going on. The brunette had Landon to fall on, and of course there was Andy that was always hanging around as her best friend. Landon was the one she always ran to whenever things fell apart, and it was basically because they were family. Each of them had keys to the other’s apartment, and now Shayne was trying to break herself out of the funk that she was going to be in. Her entire body was numb as she tried to pull herself up the stairs to the bathroom. A warm bath would most likely pull some feeling into her body, but she could not even begin to pull herself together. The thought of everything that happened kept creeping into her mind, and she was working on pushing Jem and everything that he had meant to her into one of the filing cabinets that she had in her mind. She needed to put him into a box, lock it, and throw away the key. Other than Landon he was the only one that had managed to be there constantly to pick her up and pull her back together. He never wavered and always stood by her to make sure that she kept herself together at least whenever he could. Shayne was going to have a rough couple of weeks, and she knew that it was a blessing that she was not going to have to work for the rest of the weekend.
That was something that the brunette was thinking about as she started her trek up the stairs, slowly and less sure footed than she would have liked. No, she was going to have to deal with the fact that every day she was going to have the option of running into Jem. Every day that she worked the emergency room she would run the option of running into him and being able to continue with her work. It was something that she was not looking forward to that first meeting. This was going to be one of the hardest things that the brunette had to deal with and that was whenever she had pulled herself up the stairs the whole time trying to keep her feet moving. That was why she was just going to the bathroom; she hoped that the hot water was going to let her disappear and pretend that everything that had not happened. She wanted to just forget how happy that he had made her, and how nothing ever seemed to go wrong. ONe of the phrases he had said stuck with her like no other, “how many times do I have to prove to you that I’m not Kaler?” Those words were likely to keep her shattered for months. He was nothing like his best friend Kaler Scott, and she had known that. Jem had protected her at the wedding, getting her away from everything before she had ended up in a worse situation than just slapping him. It was hard for her to imagine how her life was going to continue without him, but she had gotten through this before and she would be able to do it again. She just needed to figure out what she wanted more than anything.
Shayne had made it to the bathroom, but she never was able to pull herself into the tub, or to even take off her dress. The brunette had slumped to the ground, why she felt that the bathroom floor was the proper place to have her comfort spot was beyond her, but maybe it was from all the years that she had spent there in high school. After her senior prom, she had been there lying in a heap of tulle and taffeta. Since that day her life had gone far from right, and her love life was constantly a mess. Shayne had not had a stable steady relationship since she could remember. Something was always tearing it apart at the seams whether it was her own trust issues or that the guy was a scumbag. There were three people that she trusted in her life, as far as men go, and that had always been Chris, Landon, and Andy. They had always been the only men that stayed no matter what happened, but that had been her. She had major trust issues, and most men did not understand this. But as she lay there, all she could do was blame herself for everything that had happened that evening. The doubt that had been running through her mind was all her own fault, and she should have trusted her instincts knowing that the man she had loved so completely would never do this to her. He would never hurt her like that, but now he was gone and she was stuck being a pain in the ass to Landon, again. Now she heard the bathroom door open, and her teddy bear was standing there. Surely taking in the situation knowing that this was where he had not wanted her to be.
Every time Shayne had a breakdown, he always told her that there should be somewhere else that she should collapse. Instead she was always on the floor, and hearing his footsteps made her look up at him. She heard him slump down to the floor and she was oddly comforted just by his presence. The tequila bottles slinking to the floor. It was sad that he knew her so well that he brought two bottle of her liquor of choice. Her head was now resting on his lap, but this was something that she needed. Things were not always right with her and Landon when it came to her love life. It often times lead to the angry words, but then they always made up. It was hard for her to just lay there, and whenever his words were falling on her ears she tried to not be pained. Everything that he had said was the truth, because she listened and doubted more than anything else in the world. She should have stuck with her cute and knew that Jem would never do such a thing, but that was besides the point. She could do nothing to change what had happened between them now, but she had to move on with her life and try and to learn from her mistakes. “I know I should, but I can’t. I have never trusted myself, and my choice in men never seems to fail. I always second guess my gut, and that has me in the current state that I am in.” She pushed herself up just enough to reach the bottle of open tequila that Landon had placed beside them and took a long swig of the substance. She needed to forget everything that had happened. She needed to get away from her own head.
Whenever she was able to talk about what her life would be like without Landon, it ached her heart even more than it was already pained. He was so very important to her, and there was no logical reason for it. Their relationship was always back and forth, because there were days that she really wanted to give this another chance, but there were others that made her remember why they were best friends. He tried to lift her spirits with his jokes and the like, but it was hard for her to smile. She had let her head rest on his lap again, but that was when she tried to pull herself into a sitting position. Shayne was able to sit slightly, but she leaned into his body looking for his arms to take her in and make everything better. “You know without you and Andy I would probably left this town a long time ago. There is really no reason for me to stay without you. Although you are correct to think that life is complete now that we have each other.” She tried to wipe the tears from her eyes, but every time she did there were just more that trickled down her cheeks. The mascara that had been on her lashes now was along her cheeks. The tequila was in her hand again and long swigs were going down her throat. “I’m sorry I am always making a mess of my life and leaning on you to fix it. It always is you Landon, and I really am sorry that I do this to you.” She had no words as she buried her face in his chest again, as she was sitting against him. She really did not know how to make this right, but she had to figure out this one way or the other.

Chris. That was someone he knew well. It wasn’t the fact of stalker; it was just Shayne’s brother. And in some way, Landon felt like an older brother to him. He never understood why, but he just felt like it. He wasn’t complaining though, it was the same way for Shayne and his sister, Bailey. So, he could understand it basically. Landon stood there for a while, thinking about everything. How Shayne could go to other people, but she always came to him, Landon wasn’t complaining about this, he enjoyed it actually. He rather has her come to him, than go off somewhere where she can harm herself. Landon didn’t need to worry about her being off somewhere and hoping she was okay whereas she was at his house and fine, he wouldn’t need to be so frustrated. He knew she could always go to her brother, but what could Chris do? He could hold her and tell her everything was alright, but Chris wasn’t Landon. Sure, they both felt the need to protect Shayne, but there was a different bond with each of the boys to Shayne. Landon didn’t pass the boundaries of anything, because he knew he was going to stay the best friend and Chris would always be the little brother. Oh, and not to mention that Andy was always going to be the best friend too. The three of those guys, Chris, Landon and Andy, were the only people Shayne trusted now. Landon knew that since he and Shayne had gotten together ages ago. So, there really wasn’t anything new. All three of those guys knew the real Shayne and would always be there with her through thick and thin. And this was what Landon was going to do, be with her thick and thin until everything was all better. The bathroom was where Landon was at now, and he had more than enough reasons to dislike this place. The major reason was Shayne always coming there when she was having a break down. He had told her millions of times to find somewhere else, but it kept on coming back to the bathroom. He knew sooner or later, he would probably have to get her changed into something comfortable or at least get her in the tub. Hopefully the water would calm her down more and just give her some of her feelings back. Landon didn’t know. He was just sitting there with all of those thoughts pouring into his mind. He would shake his head here and there just to get rid of them. So, here was Landon, sitting on the cold tile, with two tequila bottles and a depressed Shayne on his lap. This was a routine usually, only it wasn’t in a down mood, and they wouldn’t be in a bathroom. But, for now, it would stay the bathroom and it would stay their little drinking fest for now. It was silent for a while, until Shayne spoke, and she heard what Landon was saying. He knew it must’ve hurt her, to have him telling her what she should’ve done. He would feel the same way if he was being told that, but he had to do what was right and just tell her everything before everything got worse. Trust yourself. It helps majorly. You need to learn that, young grasshopper. You’re looking too far into the past about what you want in a guy. Shay, you really got to think on what you want in a guy, and make sure they have it, and make sure they don’t hurt you and don’t do anything stupid to ruin it. It all just starts with you trusting yourself. Here’s something about their relationship. Landon was always there for her while she was there for him. They do have a history of being together, they were physical too. Obviously that’s why they were comfortable with each other. They told each other like it is and made sure it was simple enough for them to tell when they were kidding and when they were being serious. They were just that odd like that. There was a few times in his life, after they had decided to be best friends, which Landon thought if there would ever again be a spark. Even if it was a little spark, he hoped there would be something. That was a major ‘if’ situation. He didn’t know what she felt of it all, because he rarely talks about his emotions. The only time he had really let her hear the real emotional him was that phone call he made when he was angry at her. That was the hardest thing he had ever done. He never was the guy to talk about his feelings too, and to hear that from him, was something people should’ve recorded, because Landon was probably sure enough that he would never go back to that again. Now that they were like this, best friends, he made sure she came to him if anything was wrong or bothering her. She did that anyways, so why did he have to make sure? That didn’t matter, but either way, he knew that he had a good person that could stand him and the same way goes to her.
Glass bottles of tequila were being raised to the mouths of the male and female here and there. Landon watched as she sat up a little bit, just so that she could actually drink some of the tequila down. Landon knew what it did to her, it was basically the same thing it does to him, just make him forget the problems of that night, and probably any other night. Hey now. You weren’t going to leave me behind if you left. Because you would come back and get me and Andy to come with you. My life without you would be devastating. Who would I be able to talk too and who would I tell they have a good rack without being slapped?
Landon said, laughing at the end a bit, referring to their little jokes. He looked down at her, he never understood make up, or what’s the point of it? Sure, he had let Shayne put some make up on him before; he remembered being a little bit drunk that night too. But there are pictures, and he did know about it. But, there was such thing as waterproof. Landon knew that due to his sister. Landon turned her a bit towards him, finding a rag and getting it a little bit wet, then started wiping her face. You know, there are such things as waterproof. You wouldn’t have trouble with black color stuff coming down your face. Bailey told me this stuff for no apparent reason. So, don’t laugh. Either way, Landon knew he was going to get laughed at. It was just something she found funny apparently, when Bailey had to teach him things. He couldn’t help it, he wasn’t a girl to know these things, so how else was he going to learn some of these things? There was no way he was going to buy ‘Make up for Dummies’. Landon gave her a look. Being a pain in his ass and always coming back to him? He threw the rag over by his side and looked at her with that same look from earlier. Shayne Veronica. Do not apologize for coming to me when problems arise. You trust me a ton, that’s why you come back to me. Do not say sorry for that. Be glad you have someone to come to when there are problems. Some people don’t have this type of system at all. Landon said, scoffing a little bit in there. He wasn’t going to let her apologize to him. There was nothing she should say sorry for. Like he had said, she was lucky to have someone to go too when something was wrong. If anything, Landon should be sorry that she had to go through this. But he wasn’t going to say that aloud. That would just be a little bit awkward to admit. Landon took the bottle that was set on the floor that she had set down, and brought it up to his own lips. It was warm going down his throat, but nonetheless, it was still good. Landon set the bottle down, wrapping his arms around her lightly, just holding her a bit, just to let her know that everything was going to be okay, and that they would sort things out together as best as they could.. Well, she would have too, Landon was just going to have to agree or disagree with some things, but it was her choice in the end. He leaned down a bit, kissing the top of her head, then went back to how he was. Give it time, everything will get better. Lando promises. He said softly, but making sure that she heard him and made sure it sounded sincere and a promise to her. He wasn’t going to lie, because Landon never lied to her. status: finished tagged: shayne words: 1519 notes: hahaha i did trick you at first, now here's all of it[/blockquote][/blockquote]

There was something about a mental breakdown that seemed to spiral the brunette downward. Something about how she was never able to truly trust herself and what she wanted. The real thing is that all she wanted was someone to love her completely for who she was and not run. Someone that was going to put up with her neurotic tendencies and not judge her. Someone that was going to love her no matter what, even whenever she worked something up in her head and was untrusting. Shayne knew that was a lot to ask of any man, but it was not her fault that she was so completely broken. Every man that had been in her life out side of her brother and her best friends had let her down; not one of them could live up to what they had played themselves out to be. Shayne had a hard time not seeing the good in people and giving them the benefit of the doubt. She may be naive in a sense, but she was a kind person that never wanted to see anyone hurt, but that ultimately ended up with her crying her eyes out broken into a million pieces. There was a million and one reasons why she should have already learned from previous mistakes, but she had not. Now Chris would find himself on a plane or driving himself up to Arietta to help put big sis back together like he had done already hundreds of times. It was a lot to ask of him, yet in the same token, he got so incredibly pissed off at her if he did not know what was going on. So she would call him whenever the alcohol had left her system or whenever she could piece together coherent sentences without her speech slurring and not making sense. Shayne was a well practiced drunk, and she was well on her way to being trashed before Landon had appeared with tequila.
Anytime that Landon was around her, it did not hurt as much as she was used to. He seemed to take it all away from her tiny body and just be there. Something that none of the other men in her life could do. Chris would just let her mope and check up on her, or kick the guy’s ass whichever floated his boat at the time. Andy was always there if she needed him, but Landon knew how to work everything out to get Shayne back to herself. Now the brunette was stuck on the floor and basically incapable of actually moving. She was having a hard enough time pulling herself up to drink, because her body was just shutting down. She had no desire to do anything, and her limbs seemed to not want to work at all. She knew that she should have changed her clothes, or at least took the dress off as she was going to be laying on the floor. She had tried to listen to him, and she spoke soft and slowly. She wanted all of the pain to go away and that was the problem. Nothing was going to go away anytime soon. She wanted everything to go back to normal, but Landon’s voice brought her out of her head. “This grasshopper has never learned that. Isn’t that what the past is for? To learn from mistakes, or is it that I just live there? I really didn’t think this was going to happen Landon; I really thought things were different with Jem.” Shayne had been wrong to not trust Jem, because things had been different. As soon as pressure occurred they were done. She had cracked and that was enough for her. Shayne had ruined it, and that was the problem; the brunette had serious trust issues with not only other people but herself.
Shayne had always wondered why she had given up on what she had with Landon. She had no reason to not be with him, because they were perfect. Much like her friend Miranda Trent, people often guessed that Landon and herself were together already. He was her best friend, and the two of them did have sexual past. They had had a wonderful relationship, but for some reason they had split and been with other people. It was nothing out of the ordinary, but she had missed him. He always knew exactly what to say to her to make her feel better. She always wondered if they had that spark still, but that was something that was not going to happen anytime soon. If she wanted anything to happen between herself and Landon she needed to be a whole Shayne, not the broken, pathetic thing that was getting herself trashed and crying her eyes out on the bathroom floor. She was able to pull herself up enough to start drinking herself into a bigger stupor than she had already been. She knew that Landon would not have been happy if she had left the town, or if she had left without him. He was the one person that she would have drug with her wherever she would have gone. “I don’t know, maybe I would have come back for you, because let’s face it...the world is not complete whenever there is no Shay and Lando. Though it is true, I have no idea who you would tell they had a nice rack without being slapped. Maybe Andy, but it wouldn’t be the same. I would miss slapping your ass every day telling you it was gorgeous though.” Their innuendoes were always funny to hear, and it was always Landon that went shopping with her because he was honest. Whether he enjoyed it or not.
Shayne knew that the black mascara that had been on her eyes were on her cheeks whenever she had finally gotten herself into a sitting position. Landon would make fun of her, but she felt him moving to get a washcloth. He was cleaning her up a little bit, and of course she knew there was such a thing as waterproof mascara. The unfortunate thing was that she had used the last of her mascara before she had gone to work the previous day. She was going to go pick another tube up after the party or the next day, unfortunately she was a disaster and was covered in black streaks. “Landon, I know that there is waterproof mascara. I ran out and didn’t get to pick any up yet. So I have the black tears, but you will have to deal with it.” That was when the washcloth was being brought to her cheeks and he was wiping away all the smudges. Lando always took care of his Shayne, and she could never appreciate that enough. She did laugh remembering about her make-up adventure of getting Landon all dolled up and pretty, she had taken many pictures and put that in a scrapbook of their friendship. Yes, Shayne did that, she was a dork enough to scrapbook the important things in her life, and Landon was always the important person in her life.
The brunette knew that Landon was not pleased with how she referred to herself and being a pain in the ass. Whenever her life hit these moments she could not help but feel like she was a bother to everyone. It normally resulted in Chris dropping his time and coming to look after her for a week or two, and then when he wasn’t around there was always Landon that dropped everything to take care of her. So yes, Shayne thought she was a pain in the ass. His words touched her drunk heart, because at this point she was incredibly drunk. The bottle of tequila that he had brought up with him almost gone between him and herself, but it did not matter. “Of course I trust you, you are my bestest friend. I am sorry I didn’t tell you about everything whenever it happened, but I needed to figure out what I wanted. It’s not just problems, I always come to you for everything. Half of the time I always just assume you are always going to be around.” The drunkenness of Shayne was barely making sense, because she treated Landon like another boyfriend, and she lifted her head up to look into his eyes as she tried to make sense out of her drunken stupor. His arms wrapped around her and she felt safe. It was the only time that she felt safe in the entire world these days was whenever he had her wrapped up, and then she felt his lips on the top of her head. She pulled back a little back whenever he was done, and his words caught her ear. “Give it time, everything will get better. Lando promises.” He never promised her anything unless he meant it as an absolute truth, and she smiled. Before she knew what was happening, Shayne felt her moving closer to Landon and then her lips were on his. She kissed him softly, not sure of what it meant or what she wanted it to mean. She just knew that she needed to be with him and wrapped up in his arms.

This was weird enough, but he had a nice bathroom. Well, a nice house actually. It was more like a bachelor pad kind of, but with how he had a sister and how 75 percent of the time that Shayne was here, it turned to be more into a family type of house. That was something he wasn’t used to so much, but at the same time, he was. He had a lot of stuff he liked, and it had to make sure it wasn’t 100% manly, just saying you know. It seemed like other houses. Apparently the bathroom was the new hang out. Well, mostly for Shayne anyway. Landon just compiled and went along for it. He always questioned it, but left it alone. He already knew the answer, so he didn’t know why he kept questioning it. Landon sighed; it was content though, so he was safe there. I bet you, he spent more time in the bathroom than in his basement or the living room. Hell, even his bathroom. There was nothing he could possibly understand about what made the bathroom special. To him, it was just a bathroom where people use the bathroom, shower, and get ready. But whatever. He gave up on the whole idea of things. He was glad half the time that Bailey wasn’t around to see the random place of where they like to hang out. That would just be plain weird, and she would probably be weirded out too, let alone figuring out what the hell had just happened and all that other jazz. And there was no way that Landon would be able to explain, let alone have Shayne explain it as well, seeing the state she’s in and how she was going to be. Yeah, he wasn’t going to let anyone explain what’s going on until he knew the real story.
It was true; learning from your mistakes is always a key factor. It's something to help you get passed and make sure it doesn’t happen again. But hearing how she had put it, he had sighed once again. Dear, I truthfully don't think it’s because you live here. I believe it's because you're not looking for what you really want in a guy. Did he reach you're standards or no? You want someone you can be completely comfortable with. I mean someone where they can take you out here and there and just make you have a good time. To make you're day better. Just the things like that make it better and to know what you want. Landon said. Man, he was sounding more and more like a therapist each day as it goes by. He should've gotten a degree in that. But he wasn’t the one to go all 'jack-wagon' and have the patience for anyone else with their problems. So that was out of the question majorly. Besides, who would have the patience for that? He would fall asleep instantly, and probably get a bad reputation. That’s probably why he just does some local job that makes enough money to pay the house and anything else he needed to pay. He lifted the tequila bottle; -the first one being almost empty just by them drinking it- and finished that bottle, then set that on the tile and went for the second one. He opened that bottle, and then set it back on the ground. Landon sat there quietly for a few. He wasn’t going to go all anal on things, but he just had to think about how he was going to reply too many of the things she was saying and figure out what to do.
Relationships. That was a thing where Landon probably lacked in, but you know, he did know how to make it up. There was something about him that always made sure that A, a girl was treated right. B, that they had a good time. C, they got passed the official SHAYNE TEST. And lastly, understood Landon just the way he was and his relationships with other people. He knew how it was, probably because of Shayne was just a girlfriend, then they decided it was better to be best friends. But there was always that one side where he thought maybe he would have a chance. But he also remembered that Andy had liked her. He had to think about that, but he thought about it too that Andy was leaving shortly. Apparently he got some gig that could have him go on tour. So he took it. So much for telling them. But, as the story goes, Landon was thinking -which sometimes isn’t good- but, he had thought what if they did get back together, what if things went back to the way they were years ago? Only this time there would be more and honestly, it could be good for the both of them. Now obviously he didn’t want to go into it so fast, because of what could happen if it didn’t go well again. It was probably the best idea of waiting and seeing if it was right. Landon wasn’t going to question her part, not that he was going to think that way in her part, because he truthfully didn’t know what was going on in her mind and her feelings other than 'getting drunk and forgetting everything'. And he wasn’t going to push her to get an idea of how she feels and thinks.
People did question them though. It was obvious that they would question it because of how they acted. But it never affected him. Because it was just how they were, always making jokes and just being rowdy whenever they were together. It always made life and things easier for everyone... sometimes at least. People were weirded out, thinking like 'Why would you still grope your best friend if she was dating someone else' or something stupid along those lines. Landon would laugh at them, only because they were too funny for him to even answer. He grinned then, hearing that she would come back for him, and not to mention Andy. But their lives would just be screwed if they all weren’t together at times. Oh yeah, I’m going to go to Andy and go 'You have hot tits' and grab them. That would just be weirder than hell. And that's right, there would be no one grabbing my ass... He said with a laugh. Yes, they had the weirdest times where they would just do that. Other times it was just the laughing stuff, and there were times where they actually did act sane.. Which was rare, but they did. It was a confusing relationship, but who had to know about it? Whenever he heard it, it would just be 'Don't question it, leave it alone because you don't need to worry' or something along those lines. He didn't have to answer to no one, and it was going to stay that way.
They were just sitting there now. Drinking the bottle here and there as they were just talking. He could already tell she was drunk enough, probably because he knows her well enough to know when she was. His arms were wrapped around her and she just scooted closer to him. He was a protector basically. He knew how to protect the people and what they wanted. He wasn’t a push over guy so to say, but he knew how far to go if someone needed to be protected. He was protective. And she and his sister could say that instantly. He wasn’t going to deny that either, why should he have too? People could just tell that by his stature as well. So it wasn’t like it was new or anything. Lando promises were the best thing to have, because it meant that he was really serious and legit about his words. He rarely made them, but when he did, you better know that he's serious otherwise we're in trouble. Only about two people got them, sure other people did, but they got the Landon Promise. The two people, Shayne and his sister, got the Lando Promise -Lando is the more legit one than Landon, just saying-. What was weird was the next thing that happened. It just came out of nowhere, and he didn’t know what the hell had just happened. All he knew, was this his lips were on someone else’s. And that someone was Shayne. Landon kissed her back, not knowing what else to do at the moment. They both let go, and he just stared at her for the longest time.
Landon's thoughts were all over the place. Not to be in a bad way. But he had to think, was this really a drunk mishap, or was it a real deal type of thing? Landon would understand it either way, but he knew there was something then. It was weird, and I wasn’t going to make him sappy, but there was something that he knew was right. And if it was right, he was going to have to take his time, because he didn’t need more drama. And he figured that if she was thinking those same exact thoughts, then by damn, she was just the same way with ideal thoughts. That was the scary part. But for the time being, he was going to leave it as a drunken mishap, until she was sober enough that they could both talk about it. He truly did not know what to do at this point. This lead to more thoughts now, was he going to put her in the bed she's been staying in, was he going to just stay here for the rest of the night with her? Well, the second question was probably the winner, only because he doubts she would move enough just so that he could actually function. He could, after all, tell his sister to grab the things or do whatever he needed for her to do, just because he didn’t want to move until she was stable. After all, Bailey could drive now. So it was an easier thing to get her out of the house at times. Landon was just lost right now, and clearly, he didn't know what to do. He figured that though she was drunk, she didn't have a mental state, so she probably wouldn’t remember this in the morning. If she did, then they could talk. But if she didn't, well then Landon wasn't going to bring it up. But he knew, if he wasn’t going to bring it up, they were going to have to talk about it at some point. He looked down at his little friend, smiled softly, and just went back to thinking about the many things that are good and bad to this case. Mostly good though. Otherwise he wouldn't be so happy at that very moment.
