This was nothing new to Ashton Collins. She had been placed in so many foster homes before, and none of them hardly ever lasted for more than a month. One had only lasted for a couple of hours. She’d had group homes, foster homes, and even orphanages, none of which had ever been able to contain her. It wasn’t that Ash was a bad girl, she was just troublesome. The parents she had been placed with didn’t like the fact that she had a record, or that she continued to get a record. Ash had been arrested so many times that she had lost count, but the charges were always the same. Shoplifting, breaking and entering, assault. She wasn’t very original in what she did, and it was really quite amazing that she hadn’t been thrown into some juvenile detention center by now. But the days of foster homes was over. She was now left to be on her own, to face the world by herself, not that she had ever not been alone in the world. She had learned the true state of the world early in life, and she had been fending for herself for a long time. She was no longer a minor, and now meant to be held accountable for her actions. She was supposed to straighten up and make something of her life, but when you failed to have to means for such things it was almost impossible. It wasn’t like the girl could go to college. She had only made average grades in school and she didn’t have the money for such things. She could barely pay her rent. There was no way in hell she’d ever be able to pay for tuition or any of the other shit involved with a secondary education.
Considering she had no means when it came to finances, it was understandable why Ashton was here now doing what she was doing. She worked as a waitress and a small little diner in town, but the money she earned from her pay check and tips just didn’t do it for her. There was no way that she would make it from day to day if not for little side activity of stealing and shoplifting. The girl was good at it, though not as good as she would like to be as she got caught entirely too often. But when it came to surviving, you had to do what you had to do, and this was what she had to do. She strolled around the supermarket, finding little things that she needed and could slide into her purse. The bigger items she placed in her cart where she would actually purchase such things. It would look weird if she walked into the store and didn’t actually purchase anything. That would be questioned. She strolled down the aisle, looking at the boxes of cereal, trying to decide which would be the best to have this week. She eventually decided on the Coco Puffs, thinking it would be nice to get her chocolate fix this week by just eating breakfast. It was when she went to place the cereal in her cart that her purse fell to the ground, the contents spilling out onto the floor in front of everyone. Her jaw dropped. “Shit!” she exclaimed, turning to sink to the floor to gather the items without anyone noticing but as she did that, she ran into some guy completely falling on her ass from the force of the impact, her head hitting the edge of the cart as she went down. She was seeing stars, and when she tried to sit up everything spun. Well, so much for being sneaky.

That had normally fallen on Lainey to do the grocery shopping for their apartment, but she was busy working. So she handed him the list that morning and told him to go after he got out of class. The Criminal Justice major hated doing anything that revolved around doing housework, which was probably the main reason that Lainey had made him do this. She was always picking up after him, because he was just lazy. He left his clothes everywhere instead of in the hamper, school books everywhere and anywhere that his brain decided to put them, and the mountain dew cans that were his current fixation this place and that. He knew that he was a sloppy mess, but he was in the process of finding his own apartment aside from the one he shared with Lainey. If he told him mom that he needed out he would be able to go find a two bedroom place by himself and find himself another roommate. His mother was awesome, she let the twenty year old do whatever his heart pleased. The only reason that he had moved in with Lainey was because he felt bad that her father had chosen him over her. So the money that was supposed to be his with fancy lawyer mom and architect daddy dearest, he was the one that normally paid the grocery bill. He guessed that he probably should at least once make the damn trip to the store. His truck was better suited for carrying the groceries with his bed, rather than Lainey’s car. So he drove the short distance to fire and ice to say hi to lainey and then drove over to the grocery store.
Thankfully the list was not really that long. He didn’t have a lot of stuff to grab so he didn’t bother with pushing the damn cart around. Lainey had done most of the major grocery shopping earlier that week, they were low on cereal and milk and all the other good shit. Anything that was quick and easy, like pizza rolls and hot pockets were in high demand because that was what Brody lived off of for classes. He was currently making his way around looking for one of those little hand crate things, but he could not remember for the life of him where it was. He was at the end of the cereal aisle whenever he found it on the end cap. He started down the aisle whenever he noticed a little brunette who had dropped her purse. He looked at the bag on the ground and was mortified for her to see all the things that the grocery store would have just lost out on. He rushed over to her, and before he knew it her head was hitting off the cart. He watched in horror as she fell to the ground realizing that it was his fault that she had hit her head. He leaned down to her, and was pulling everything that was in her purse and on the floor in his basket. he smiled at her, that half grin that he was kind of known for. “You didn’t hit your head as hard as I think you did, did you?” His eyes were looking her over trying to see if there was a bump or something. Brody really just wanted to make sure that she was okay, and that he would pay for whatever the girl had been trying to steal. “Don’t worry about the other stuff. I got it for you; I’m Brody, by the way.” He offered her his hand and helped the girl to her feet still staring at her and taking in her beautiful features.

Running into that guy was like hitting a freaking brick wall. He was much bigger than she was and she hadn’t even seen him coming. Chivalries, sure, but it hadn’t helped her out all that much, now did it? “You didn’t hit your head as hard as I think you did, did you?” It took her a moment to make sense of those words, her head spinning and her ears ringing, but eventually the words made perfect sense to her. She didn’t try to nod or shake her head because she was very sure that it would make her feel worse than she already did. “Yes, I think I did. Oooowwww.” Now she was going to have to get some Advil or something because this headache was seriously killing her. “Don’t worry about the other stuff. I got it for you; I’m Brody, by the way.” He offered her his hand and for a moment she felt a surge of fear. Who was he, and was he going to do something to get her in trouble? Despite what her record might say, she didn’t actually set about to get in trouble. She just happened to be a rather crappy thief the majority of the time. But she honestly didn’t want to get caught. It would mean another night in jail or worse. The people around the station were starting to know her by name, which was never a good thing. She had once had a rather good relationship with the captain of the LAPD. It was not a relationship she wanted to have a repeat of. But it wasn’t like she could just stop what it was she was doing. It was how she survived, how she lived. It was all she knew.
Ashton took the guys hand, allowing him to pull her to her feet. She immediately braced herself against the cart as her head was spinning and that almost caused her to go to the ground again. The spinning of her head was making her sick to her stomach and she wanted to sink back to the floor of the store. “I think I’m going to be sick,” was her reply, Ash completely forgetting, or ignoring, the fact that he had introduced himself and offered to buy the items she had been attempting to steal. She felt seriously ill and the spinning just refused to stop. She closed her eyes, but that just made it worse and opened them again. “Ugh…” She slowly sank back to the floor, leaning her back against the cereal boxes, resisting the urge to lay down completely on the floor of the cereal aisle of the grocery store. She put her head in her hands, trying to sit out the dizziness and just hoping that it would go away. She sat there like that for a good while, though Ash couldn’t be sure how long exactly. She finally was able to move without her head spinning and feeling like she was going to throw up. When she glanced up the guy was still standing there. What was his name again… Brian? Brady? Brody! Yeah, that was it. She held out her hand to him to help her up, and she was on her feet again. The world spun slightly, and she felt slightly nauseous, but she didn’t fall over or slide back to the ground, so that was good. “Sorry about that. I’m Ash… Ashton.” She motioned towards him. “Thanks for… that.” She offered him a smile but it was a weak one. “Ouch,” she said, bringing her hand to her head. “Stupid cart just had to break my fall.” She pushed it slightly, but quickly pulled it back as it was the only thing actually keeping her vertical. “Great first impression, huh?” she commented to the guy, the weak smile still on her lips, trying to make light of the moment but very possibly failing miserably.

He did not want to see the beautiful girl get in trouble for shoplifting, and you would think that someone that was going to do it would make sure their bag didn’t fall. Oh well, but he was one of those guys that spent more time in the gym than was necessary, so he knew that feeling of getting hit with a ton of bricks. Brody had the feeling that the way she had hit that cart had not been good, and she could possibly have a concussion now because of it. He listened as she spoke and laughed, but caught it with a cough because he did not want to offend her. “So much for wishful thinking.” He spoke softly before introducing himself. He was going to be there to make sure that she was okay, because that was the kind of guy he was. Yes, Brody had a previous reputation of being a bit of a manwhore. That all had changed whenever Mykayla Trent had waltzed into his life and turned it all upside down. After her, all Brody wanted was to be the kind of man that a woman deserved. He was twenty years old, and never imagined that he would rescuing a girl in the grocery store.
When she had taken his hand he stood there with both hands around her, ready to catch her if she fell again. Her words were soft, but it had Brody thinking that she really did get a concussion. If she was going to be ill it was a good possibility. His hands were still surrounding her as she braced herself against the cart. Her features were absolutely breath taking, and if she had not just severely hit her head he might have tried some serious flirting skills. Instead he was there trying to get her on her feet. When she started to slide down to the floor, he gently grabbed her shoulders to keep her from hitting her head again. “You might have a concussion, because of how hard you hit your head. It might explain you being sick” Brody wore concern on his face; this was his fault and he knew it. He was going to do anything to help her, at least until she told him to get the hell away from her. It looked like she was ready to try this again, and he grabbed her hand again. Gently lifting her to her feet, she still did not look so great. At least she wasn’t swaying like she had been a few minutes earlier. “If anyone should be sorry, it should be me. I mean I am the reason you hit your head.” He said with a smirk on his lips. So her name was Ashton; he thought she had just ignored his introduction. At least he knew that she had heard him. He smiled and laughed a little when she started speaking. “Yeah those carts are always getting people into trouble. Putting things in there that don’t belong and all that crazy stuff. And you know, it is a good one. Doubt I will forget you Ashton.” He was smiling, but it was because he did not want to forget her. He stood there taking in her features, now that she wasn’t on the floor. She was new to Arietta, because Brody knew everyone. It was not like there were really a lot of new people coming around. It was a pretty small town, and he had grown up with just about everyone. “So when did you move here, because I would think I would remember a beautiful face like yours. And I know I have never seen you before, but please let me help you around the store. I just want to make sure you are alright.” At least he would win points for his gentleman attitude, and Mykayla would have been proud of him. He knew that much for certain.

“So much for wishful thinking.” Yeah, that was for sure. But his wishful thinking did nothing for her as there was a very good chance that she had a concussion. Ashton wasn’t new to concussions. She had been in a number of fights before that had resulted in them. There had also been this one time in high school when she had been hit by a baton at a parade. That had not been fun at all. And this was not either. Getting ill in the middle of the grocery store was not her idea of a good time, and this guy probably wouldn’t be so fond of her if she hacked all over his shoes. It would make her memorable, sure, but she wasn’t so sure she wanted to be remembered that way. “You might have a concussion, because of how hard you hit your head. It might explain you being sick.” She knew this, but she was in no condition to actually point this little fact out. She could read the concern on his face, too, which was actually kind of sweet. Ash hadn’t seen that expression on too many faces in her life. That tended to happen when you had no family and the entire world saw you as a nuisance. Group homes and foster parents who had entirely too many kids to look after didn’t really find it in themselves to get concern for a juvenile delinquent. She was a troublemaker, and they usually just wanted her out.
“If anyone should be sorry, it should be me. I mean I am the reason you hit your head.” This was also true. Chances are she probably wouldn’t have fallen and hit her head had he not ran to help her. Still, it wasn’t as if she could totally be angry over such a thing. He had had good intentions. That was what counted. “Yeah those carts are always getting people into trouble. Putting things in there that don’t belong and all that crazy stuff. And you know, it is a good one. Doubt I will forget you Ashton.” She returned his smile, fairly glad to hear that he wouldn’t easily forget her. He was kind of gorgeous, but aside from that, Ash kind of liked the idea that she would be remembered. And this time in a very good way. “So when did you move here, because I would think I would remember a beautiful face like yours. And I know I have never seen you before, but please let me help you around the store. I just want to make sure you are alright.” The cart moved slightly under her weight but she was able to right herself and not fall completely. It helped that she had him there to keep her steady. “That’s because I haven’t been here long. Six months is all.” She would have probably attempted to flirt with him at that moment had her head not felt like it was going to crack open at any moment. Instead, she worked on not moving it to much, and hoping that everything stopped spinning and that she wouldn’t be sick. “And I suppose I could be okay with that. Just as long as you don’t knock me over again I think we’ll be fine.” Because she really didn’t want to hit her head again.
She moved with him through the aisles of the grocery store, picking up the last few things that she needed and stopping whenever he came across something that he needed, chatting easily with him despite her splitting headache. She did not, however, try to slide anything else into her purse, and instead left the majority of those items for a later date. This guy probably wouldn’t have let her get away with it anyway. They checked out, him handing her the bag of her items when they exited the store and she thanked him once again. She thought they would part ways there, but as she went to walk and carry on her way she stumbled, finding him there to catch her again. “I think your right,” she said with a small laugh. “Definitely a concussion.”

this post is tagged for ashton olivia collins . it is dunzo and has eight hundred and forty six words. the one and only secondhand serenade contributed to this inspiration from the song fall for you . she is looking sick and sexified wearing that up there. this template was created by the amazing amber you steal it and there will be an angry baby who will eat your brains no joke. additional notes bashton! ______________________ Brody really was concerned with the girl that had just rammed her head off a cart. It had been his fault, but the last thing he had wanted to do was hurt her. He had wanted to protect her and keep her from trouble. Concussions were not fun, and he was going to have to keep an eye on her to make sure she was okay. It was his responsibility to make sure that his act of kindness did not come back and bite him hard in the ass. He wore the concerned look easily, and could tell that it actually meant something to the girl. Brody had changed a lot in the two years since he dated Kay Trent. If this had happened two years ago, he would have laughed at the girl as she got busted for shoplifting and moved on with his day. Hell he probably would not have even been in the grocery store to begin with, because he would have refused to do anything that Lainey was telling him to do. That as the way that Brody had been two years ago, he would have laid the flirting down and just went with it instead of actually being concerned for someone’s well being. Yet, here he was in the grocery store picking up stuff that Lainey had made it very clear that if he did not go get it out that she was going to kick him out. So he was trying to make things a little better for his big sister, she did have it rough compared to him. His mother was a lawyer and their dead beat father was actually making money as an architect. It was not like Brody ever wanted for anything, he just wished that Lainey had the same opportunities that he had.
It was his fault that Ashton was hurt, and it was not like he wanted that to happen to her. He had tried to help her and save her from even more trouble. Brody was also the guy that was cracking jokes trying to lighten a situation, so when she met his smile with one of her own he was captivated. She was truly beautiful, and he could not believe that he was thinking this about a girl that had been stealing stuff in the grocery store. The blonde man knew that there were girls that would line up to screw him and try to do pull one over on him, but this was different with her. Everything that he said was genuine, he did think she was beautiful. What struck him was that he had never seen her before, and as she spoke he wanted to slap himself for letting her be in this town for six months without noticing her. “Six months is still a long time for you to be here without me noticing you at all. Which is a shame, because you are beautiful.” So he was laying on the charm a little bit, but could one blame him? She was stunning, and he was going to milk the time that he had with her in the store to make an impression that she would want to spend some more time with him. A smile broke across his lips as she spoke about not knocking her down again. “You know, I think I can handle keeping you on your feet. You don’t look as adorable as you do now when you look like you are about to hurl.” He laughed at the thought, but it was easy to be himself with her.
Going through the list of stuff and finding everything that Ashton needed was easy. the grocery store was easier to be in whenever there was someone that knew where everything was. It was easy talking to her, like it was when he was talking to Kay. It was a feeling that he had not since her, but something that was truly welcome. They checked out with ease and Brody had decided to pay for most of her stuff. It was the least he could do considering that he had caused her head injury. Besides it wasn’t like he had anything better to do with the money since rent had been paid already. They were about to part ways when he kept his eyes on her to make sure she was really okay. He watched carefully, when she started to stumble. Thankfully Brody had been ready to run and catch her and that is exactly what he had done. He looked down at her, and her smile and laugh were contagious. He smiled back at her, before speaking. “I would say so. So how about I take you home, you are in no condition to drive. That way you can rest and I can help you put your groceries away?” Alright, so he basically just invited himself over to her home, but she really should not be driving if she could not keep herself standing straight.

“Six months is still a long time for you to be here without me noticing you at all. Which is a shame, because you are beautiful.” Had Ashton not felt like her head was going to split open and pour her brains out at any minute, she probably would have blushed at his compliment. She was never one who had considered herself beautiful in any way, and she especially wouldn’t have thought so after she had just fallen and smashed her head against a cart in the grocery store. But apparently he thought so. Brody, on the other hand, was completely gorgeous. He had to be the best looking man she had ever seen in her life, and considering how she had felt after hitting him, she was fairly sure that his clothes hid much more of his gorgeousness. She definitely wouldn’t mind staring at him for a good long while, but that would be creepy and so Ashton didn’t do it. Instead she walked and chatted with him as they made their way through the grocery store. “You know, I think I can handle keeping you on your feet. You don’t look as adorable as you do now when you look like you are about to hurl.” She offered him a smile and started walking out of the cereal aisle and to the rest of the store. Ash found herself actually enjoying the shopping trip as she had someone to chat with as she strolled the aisles. For obvious reasons she never had much company when she went out on such trips. Most people didn’t really enjoy going on trips that there was a chance of getting thrown in jail. Or, at least, not trips as boring as going to the grocery store.
Ash didn’t object to Brody paying for her items. He had offered, and she wasn’t one to refuse things that came free. Most would rather die than do such things, but things that came free were how Ash lived her life. She was never one to pass up on a handout in any way. It wasn’t like the items she had intended on stealing were that much anyway. It wasn’t like she had tried to swipe an iPod or something crazy like that. Once outside, Ashton proved that she was not yet ready to walk on her own without some assistance. She didn’t totally mind this, though, as it gave her a reason to find herself in Brody’s arms once again. She couldn’t complain about that. The splitting headache, on the other hand, she could complain about. “I would say so. So how about I take you home, you are in no condition to drive. That way you can rest and I can help you put your groceries away?” She smiled at the thought of that and she was ready to agree before he had even finished the sentence. “Now what makes you think I can drive?” she asked. “You just caught me trying to…” she lowered her voice “shoplift in the grocery store. Do you really think I get such luxuries as a car?” Truth be told, Ash didn’t legally know how to drive. She had been taught when she was of age by some of the older kids in one of her foster homes, but she had never actually gotten her license. Not that she could really use it, though. You needed a car for such things. “You have yourself a deal, though. I’d be perfectly fine with you taking me home.” She laced her arm through his, partly because she wanted to, partly for support. “Do you plan on keeping me awake too? Wouldn’t want me slipping into a comma or anything of the sort, would you?” She offered him another smile, thinking the idea of spending an afternoon with him would be pretty sweet. “And ice. I really need ice.” She had walked through the majority of the store with a bag of pizza pockets held to her head, but they hadn’t helped that much. Ice was sounding very wonderful to the brunette. Just about as wonderful as an afternoon with this gorgeous man.

He felt the need to protect the brunette that was holding onto the cart like her life depended on it. No one should be forced to steal things to get through the days, and he had a feeling that was why she was stealing stuff. Ashton did not seem like the girl that would do it for kicks, but how was he to know what was true or not. He had just met her, but they talked and it was good. Something that he had not had in a long while, well besides his long chats with Mykayla. There had been a lot of those with the news that she had dropped on him a few days ago, and so far the only person to successful take his mind off of what was going on with her was Ashton. Brody had followed her and was glad that he had because the poor girl was in no state to be walking without someone else around. She obviously had a concussion, and he was going to have to make sure she was alright. It was his fault, and then she was talking again. He smirked a little “Who’s to say you didn’t steal a car along the way? I should probably keep my eyes on you from now on.” he let out a chuckle clearly joking with her. “Not to be mean, but I parked over here. You are going to have to turn around, and hopefully not fall again.” Her arm was laced in his, and it was a really good feeling to feel her arm intertwined with his. Something was just easy with the two of them, it was like breathing.
He walked her over to the truck, and got her in before he tackled the question of her slipping into a coma. Of course this was Brody that we were talking about and he was not going to let her slip into some kind of a coma. He wanted her alive and well. “I will keep you awake, promise. I kind of like you alive, even if you have a concussion. And do you have ice at your house, or should I just take you to mine to make sure that you are taken care of properly?” Brody didn’t wait for her to answer as he put the keys in the ignition and started the familiar road to his shared apartment with Lainey. She would not be pleased whenever she found out that he had brought her home, but he knew where everything was in his apartment. He could take care of her better there and make sure she stayed awake. Besides, he could put her groceries in the fridge if he needed to until he took her home. The ride was filled with a bit of chit chat, and then he pulled into the parking spot that was his. His black f-150 taking up more room than was necessary, but the only person that shared that parking with was Lainey. He went over to the passenger side door and helped Ashton out. “So this is my casa. I live with my sister, and the place is a mess. I didn’t clean before I went to the store, but I know where everything is here. I just want you to get the best care that I can give you.” He smiled at her, and helped her up the steps to the apartment. “Alright, so make yourself comfortable while I go get the groceries.” He sat her down on the couch and then was out to the truck to get the items that they had bought.

Ashton Collins’s record of thievery wasn’t something that had just recently started. She had been at this for a long time, starting off at the young age of eight. She had been involved in this a long time, though she had to admit that she had started off being much better at it than she was now. Probably because she had gotten much more careless and had started taking more items than when she had first began doing all this. Only those that understood what she came from would realize why she did why she had to do it. But according to the law there was no acceptable reason for stealing. It was frowned upon and Ashton’s criminal record clearly showed how much it was frowned upon. Aside from the assault and trespassing charges, shoplifting was her most common one. It wasn’t like she couldn’t not do it, though. She was already working a full time job and searching for another. She could barely cover her rent, let alone her groceries and all the other shit she had to buy. Capitalism was not kind to an orphan without a penny to her name, and so she had to find her own way to do things, and this was her way. It might not be legal but it worked. “Who’s to say you didn’t steal a car along the way? I should probably keep my eyes on you from now on.” He was joking which was very refreshing. She was glad that if she had to screw up in front of anyone it was a guy with a sense of humor for that kind of thing. Had he been any different… well, she would probably be in handcuffs right now to visit with Sergeant Vic, who was usually the one left to deal with. So far he was the only one she was on a first name basis with. “You know, I’ve never actually stolen a car before, but thanks for the idea!” She grinned and laughed to show that she was also joking, though she wouldn’t have been surprised if he took her seriously.
Ashton turned and walked with her arm laced through Brody’s arm. She had no idea where they were going so she let him lead the way and simply went where he drug her. They reached a black truck which she quickly determined was his vehicle. He helped her to climb up inside before he went about getting the groceries himself. He was quite the gentleman, which was really quite surprising for a girl like Ashton who had never really met a guy like that. All she had ever really seen were jerks who like to hit on her. This was quite a new experience for her. He climbed into the drivers side. “I will keep you awake, promise. I kind of like you alive, even if you have a concussion. And do you have ice at your house, or should I just take you to mine to make sure that you are taken care of properly?” She smiled. “You can do whatever you want with me sweetheart,” she said, then laughed. “And yes, I do have ice. That one’s actually not too hard to get when your freezer works.” Which was actually slightly questionable when it came to Ashton as some things didn’t always work. Mostly because she would be unable to pay a bill or two. It was clear to Ash once they pulled out of the parking lot that they were going to his place because he didn’t ask her for directions to her apartment. But that was fine with Ash. She really didn’t mind going there. Before long they were pulling into a parking lot of an apartment complex that was very much nicer than the one that she lived in. He shut of the engine and climbed out, soon appearing at her door and helping her out. “So this is my casa. I live with my sister, and the place is a mess. I didn’t clean before I went to the store, but I know where everything is here. I just want you to get the best care that I can give you.” She laughed. “I don’t really mind messy,” she said with a smile. “Never really liked things being all neat.” Mostly because she was slightly messy herself. She liked being in a place that looked lived in, not like it hadn’t been occupied in years. It made things comfortable.
They walked into his apartment and he sat her on the couch. “Alright, so make yourself comfortable while I go get the groceries.” She nodded and watched him leave, then stared around the place. It was kind of cozy, Ashton not really noticing that the place was messy. Her dark eyes drifted over the things there, examining her surroundings, mostly because she just liked to know the place that she was in. She liked being familiar with things. It came from being forced into different homes so often. She had never really had one, no matter how hard she had tried. Making herself comfortable in a place was all she could really do. When she heard Brody coming back in with the groceries she looked over her shoulder, watching as he carried them in by himself. “Don’t forget my ice!” she shouted at him with a grin. Ashton was just being difficult, which was something that she enjoyed doing on occasion. It was always fun to give people a hard time, but it was always in good fun, Ash never really taking a lot of things seriously. She was just funny like that. When he finally brought the ice to her she grinned and took it from him, holding it to her head where she was sure a knot was growing. “Thanks!” She leaned back against the couch, turning her head to look at him. “You say you live here with your sister?” she asked, curious. “She like your messy habits, or is she more the type to frown upon such things?”

She was different than any of the other girls around this town. Sure he probably should have turned her into the store manager for stealing, considering he was a criminal justice major but he had the strange need to protect her. It was similar to the need and want to protect Mykayla from everything that happened in her life. Especially with the news that she had dropped on him, but whenever he was around Ashton, even in this chance encounter, it seemed like that did not exist. All of the pain that the blonde had been harboring had disappeared, even if it had only been for an hour or so. Brody had that personality that could joke about anything, so suggesting that she could have stolen a car was not that far of a thought. If she was stealing who was to say she hadn’t stolen something bigger and all of that jazz. Her arm in his he looked at her and raised an eyebrow at her. “Really, never stolen a car. I figured you would have done that already. Well, I will remember to be locking my door since you are in town.” Brody locked his car no matter what, but he certainly did not need someone running off with it. Not that Ashton would, stealing stuff in a grocery store was totally different than committing grand theft auto. Ashton did not seem quite capable of pulling a stunt off like that. So he really did not fear for his baby’s safety as he lead her to the truck and got her all settled in.
Brody could be quite the gentleman and whomever he ended up with was going to have to thank Mykayla Trent for that. Without her, Brody would not be the man he was sitting in his truck taking care of a girl he had never met. He also would not have rushed to her side to make sure that she did not get in trouble. He probably would have laughed and turned her in, but that was a different lifetime ago even if it was only two years. Brody had changed so much, and he was proud of that change. He was worthy of the love he desperately wanted and worthy of a good woman’s love. That had taken a long time to realize that he actually could do that. So Brody was going to make sure that she was alright, but that did not mean he couldn’t flirt with her along the way, right? Because he was going to bring the charm out. He wanted to keep her around and get to know her. Something about her had the boy completely engrossed in her. He kept casting glances over at her as he drove the familiar roads to his apartment that he shared. Thankfully Lainey was not going to be home, which he was happy about. He did not need to explain the craziness that happened whenever he was sent on errands while the injured girl was still in his grasps. He could not help but laugh at her, because his mind was still dirty. The thought of doing whatever he wanted with her tugged a smile to his lips though. He could have his way with her if he really wanted to, okay maybe not, but she offered. It would be hard to turn down if she threw herself at him, but that was probably not what she had meant. He drove the distance to his apartment and was glad to be home. He knew that he was going to have to take her home eventually, but he could take care of her and get some studying done...hopefully. “It’s a good thing that you don’t mind mess, because Lainey yells at me all the time that I am a slob. She is a bit of neat freak, and I am exactly that, a slob.” He laughed as he helped her out of the truck.
Before he went to get the groceries he made sure that she was sitting straight whenever he went back down to the truck. he made sure to grab everything in one trip just so he could take care of her. So he entered the kitchen and set everything down when her voice caught his ears “Don’t forget my ice.” He smirked as he had already started to grab the ice and put it in a plastic bag and wrapped it in a towel. He came out of the kitchen with it in his hands and smirked at her. “I was already on it. Slow your roll woman, I said I would take care of you.” he handed the ice to her and smiled as she thanked him. That was when he took a seat beside her when she asked about his sister. “Well technically Lainey is my half sister. We have the same toolbag dad, but yeah. She’s at work, works at Fire and Ice. And she hates my messy habits. I have been threatened to be kicked out more times than not because i leave my shit everywhere. Lainey just doesn’t enjoy the messy look like I do.” He laughed and smiled at Ashton. “How’s your head? And any older brothers or sisters I need to worry about when I take you home later? I mean, you can stay here if you want. Up to you.” Did he really just do that, okay so maybe he liked her a little more than he thought he did.

“It’s a good thing that you don’t mind mess, because Lainey yells at me all the time that I am a slob. She is a bit of neat freak, and I am exactly that, a slob.” Eww, neat freaks. Ashton had lived in a foster home once where her parents had been like that. They had a place for everything and if you so much as moved it a centimeter they were on top of you. Ash had a feeling that they were somewhat OCD as everything was supposed to be in a specific place. That had been one of the many homes she had run away from. She had hated it there. She was a messy creature by habit, and she had been so thankful to get away from there. She was punished more often than any other child in the home had been, though occasionally she had done messy things on purpose just to rub them the wrong way. Ash had brought a lot of it on herself, sure, but she was unable to resist the temptation to see them fly off the handle because she had rearranged the entire living room. It had been pretty interesting to watch them freak out over what she had done but in the end they had known it was her and hadn’t been very happy. She had ran away after that and three days later she was moved to a new home.
Ash sat on the couch, waiting for her ice and glad when she finally got it as it was something she desperately needed. “I was already on it. Slow your roll woman, I said I would take care of you.” She smiled at him, taking the ice and pressing it to her head, hoping that it would greatly improve her headache, which was not the most pleasant thing she had ever felt. She asked him about his sister, trying to keep the conversation going and also get to know him a little better. She was very much attracted to him and honestly wouldn’t mind if she saw him again. He seemed like a pretty decent guy, too, and Ash didn’t think he would be too bad a person to have around. “Well technically Lainey is my half sister. We have the same toolbag dad, but yeah. She’s at work, works at Fire and Ice. And she hates my messy habits. I have been threatened to be kicked out more times than not because I leave my shit everywhere. Lainey just doesn’t enjoy the messy look like I do.” She laughed when he laughed. It was quite a nice laugh and she was glad to hear it so frequently in their conversation, which was coming much easier than she would have thought.
“How’s your head? And any older brothers or sisters I need to worry about when I take you home later? I mean, you can stay here if you want. Up to you.” She smiled. “It’s getting better, the ice helps. Still very painful though.” Very painful. She still felt like her head was going to crack open or explode. It was very unpleasant. “Oh yes. Two very big older brothers. Football players. Very mean.” She held a rather serious face for a few moments before a smile slid onto her lips and laughed. “Only kidding. No, it’s just me.” Ashton was prone to lying. In fact, she did it quite often. However, she felt no need to lie to him. And she didn’t want to, honestly. Tease, yes. But she didn’t see herself lying about such things. At the same time, though, she wasn’t about to reveal her entire, messy past either. She wasn’t one to open up easily and it would take a while to get things out of her. However, she had a feeling that if anyone could get some of that messy past out of her, it would be him. She didn’t know why, but there was just something about it. It was insanely intriguing and drew her to him like a moth to a flame. She was definitely hooked. “Oh really, I can?” she inquired to the last part of what he had said. She grinned. “You might want to be more careful about the offers you make. I might never leave.” She laughed, only teasing. Staying the night here didn’t necessarily sound like a bad thing, though.

this post is tagged for ashton olivia collins . it is dunzo and has eight hundred and sixty nine words. the one and only hollywood undead contributed to this inspiration from the song hear me now . she is looking sick and sexified wearing that up there. this template was created by the amazing amber you steal it and there will be an angry baby who will eat your brains no joke. additional notes bashton! ______________________ So maybe calling Lainey a neat freak was a bit intolerable of him. Lainey had been completely wonderful to him, had even given him a place to stay. There were things in Brody’s past that did not make things easy, and he kept about ninety five percent of his life before Mykayla a secret from anyone and everyone. No one needed to know about the life that he had left behind. Brody had been an asshat to the best women that could have wandered into his life, and he was ashamed of how he had treated them. But Lainey had taken him in whenever he had wanted away from the man they both shared as a father. Neither of his children wanted him really, and all Brody needed him for was his money. It wasn’t like he wanted anything other than that, but he had lived a privileged life. So to sit there and make fun of Lainey for her neat habits was a bit unfair. She had grown up differently than he had, and up until he had moved in with her someone else had picked up after him. Brody had it easy, his sister did not. He smiled a little bit, realizing how much this girl was affecting him. Never had he imagined bringing a girl home to Lainey’s apartment, well his apartment, but still. This was new territory for him, the only other girl who had been here was Mykayla.
He handed her the ice and tried to explain about what happened with Lainey and himself. Never had he told anyone the real details about it, but here he was telling a stranger. Something about Ashton seemed to make it okay, and it was something that he could get used to. Not even Mykayla really knew that they were just half siblings. He didn’t really talk about it because Lainey was the closest thing he had to a family. His parents were completely useless, and he hated the bastard that was his father. He was opening up more to this girl than he had anyone, which was kind of shocking to him. “Well we grew up differently. Lainey is used to picking up after herself, and I just don’t care. Other people always did it for me, so I was like whatever.” He shrugged his shoulders and that was when he noticed that she laughed whenever he had been. Her laugh was contagious, and she had a certain ring to it. He could listen to her laugh all day, but that was something that he had never spoken about another girl. It also did not hurt that Ashton was the only person that was able to keep his mind off of Mykayla and the fact that she had cancer for more than five minutes.
“Well I’m glad the ice is helping, I have some Advil if you want it.” He tried to think of where Lainey had hid the stuff, seeing as how he kept it by the television since he was always out there studying. It just was not the same whenever he locked himself up in his room all the time. He started to rummage around the end table, and found it. But that was not drew his attention back to her, but the idea of two older brothers was a tiny bit intimidating. After having to deal with Kade, Jared, and Hunter Trent, he just was not as fond of older brothers. Thought the three Trent brothers had grown on him after a while. He made the big reaction of wiping his brow, pretending to be relieved whenever she said it was just her. “Well that is good seeing as how I probably would have been beat up for returning broken goods. I doubt those two football playing brothers would be happy with me, but I could handle it. I’ve had to do it before.” Which was referencing the Trent brothers. He had offered for her to stay, but it was more so they could hang out and get to know each other. Brody was not really ready to let her out of his life yet. Even if it was just for the evening, but he liked her. There was this attraction that he could not explain whenever it came to her, but it was there. He wanted her around, and it was why he offered a complete stranger a stay at his home. “Well you know, Lainey would probably kick you out eventually, but I am down for you staying. You definitely bring an edgy side to my life, Ashton. Besides, someone is going to have to wake you up sporadically throughout the night to make sure you don’t slip into a coma. Since I caused it, I will be the one to take care of you.” Brody looked into her eyes, and he knew then that he wanted to kiss her. He could feel it aching in his body to do it, but yet he couldn’t bring himself to kiss her. Not yet, there was something holding him back, and he had no idea what.

Ashton was kind of jealous of Brody and his sister Lainey. Family was something the young girl had never had. Her parents had died when she was five and she could barely remember what they looked like most days. She remembered that they were nice, though. Growing up, her back of a family was the most obvious difference between her and her peers. They had parents who went to soccer games and helped them with their homework. Ash didn’t have any of that. She had been shipped from home to home, city to city, place to place. She had never known affection or love from a parental type figure. Being five years old after losing her parent, that was all little Ashton Collins had wanted. She had wanted affection and a home and a family. But none of those things had happened. She was just another number, another check. No one ever truly cared. No one wanted her. It was in those early days in the system that Ash became who she was. She had soon discovered that acting out got her noticed and attention. Later on the acting out had turned into something more criminal and had become a means of survival. She had changed. She was still a young girl starved for affection and wanting more out of life. She just didn’t know how to make those things happen.
This guy, though? She liked him. Sure he had knocked her to the ground and given her a concussion, but he was also looking after her and seemed genuinely concerned about how she was doing even though they had just not. Not to mention that he was extremely pleasing to look at. “Well we grew up differently. Lainey is used to picking up after herself, and I just don’t care. Other people always did it for me, so I was like whatever.” Ash smiled. “I’ve never had people pick up after me, either, which is probably why I dislike doing it for myself.” Not that she had ever had anyone really care enough to pick up after her. She had mostly just been yelled at and told to do it. There hadn’t been much choice in all of that. “Well I’m glad the ice is helping, I have some Advil if you want it.” Ash started to nod, but then realized that was a bad idea and she stopped herself. “Yes, please. That would be great.” Her dark eyes watched as he shifted through the end table looking for it and grinned when he pulled it out and handed the bottle to her. She took two from the bottle and held them in her hand. “Water?” She asked with a grin. She couldn’t take the pills without some. He had gotten himself roped into this. “Well that is good seeing as how I probably would have been beat up for returning broken goods. I doubt those two football playing brothers would be happy with me, but I could handle it. I’ve had to do it before.” She laughed softly. “Oh really? You have a habit of causing anger in big, football playing brothers?” She grinned even wider. “Well you know, Lainey would probably kick you out eventually, but I am down for you staying. You definitely bring an edgy side to my life, Ashton. Besides, someone is going to have to wake you up sporadically throughout the night to make sure you don’t slip into a coma. Since I caused it, I will be the one to take care of you.” It was sweet, and she was rather grateful that if she had to run into anyone it was him. Not everyone would have been as nice.
“You think this is edgy, then you just wait.” She grinned. “And you know, we don’t have to sleep tonight. Its rather fun to stay up all night.” She tilted her head to the side slightly. “That is, you know, if you’re up for such a task.” She grinned. Ash wasn’t really one to flirt, especially when she had just met someone, but there was just something about him that she couldn’t help but do so. And she understood the suggestiveness of her comment, though she hadn’t exactly meant it that way. Such a thing probably wouldn’t have been good with her concussion anyway, though she couldn’t say that the thoughts hadn’t been running through her head. She could almost feel the tension building up between them, but acting on such things probably would not have been such a good thing. “So how about that water?” she asked because she desperately needed these pills. Her head was killing her. Her eyes watched him as he left the room, her unable to not do it. He was quite a beautiful man and she would not have been female if she didn’t look. When he came back in with her water, the smile returned to her face and she took it, taking a drink and then swallowing the pills. Satisfied, she sat the water on the end table and waited for the pills to kick in. “So tell me, Brody, how do you plan on entertaining me while I’m here? There’s no telling what I’ll do if you don’t.” A rather wicked grin crossed her lips, and though she had no intention of doing anything, Ash honestly didn’t know what she would do to entertain herself, though. Anything was possible when it came to Ashton.

this post is tagged for ashton olivia collins . it is dunzo and has nine hundred and eighty one words. the one and only hollywood undead contributed to this inspiration from the song hear me now . she is looking sick and sexified wearing that up there. this template was created by the amazing amber you steal it and there will be an angry baby who will eat your brains no joke. additional notes bashton! ______________________ There was something about Ashton that managed to keep his interest no matter what. They were so different and yet similar. He made wisecracks about how he had grown up, and honestly he had hated it. Knowing that he had a sister somewhere that was getting the shit end of the stick because their dad was a toolbag did not sit well with him. Yes growing up and in high school, Brody had not cared about another person ever. The only friend that he had really kept around and meant something to him was Stella Garland. So she had stolen his virginity, okay maybe stolen is not the right word but whatever. He had taken hers just as much as she had taken his. It was to take away from the awkwardness that would have ensued if they were both with someone experienced. They had done each other a favor, at least that was how they looked at it. That seemed like a lifetime ago, seeing as how after that Brody sort of became the resident manwhore for a while. Quite a few years until one Mykayla Trent had sunk her teeth into him and turned him around. He was so thankful for Kay, and if it had not been for her well this would not be happening with Ashton right now. HE would have left her there to fend for herself, but here he was taking care of her and explaining about his family and all of the other things in his life. It was kind of interesting to see how much his life had changed in just a few years. But sitting on his couch with Ashton was like the easiest thing in the world, and for once his mind was not on his sick best friend. He smirked at her whenever she said why she didn’t like to clean up after herself. “Yeah, maybe that is it. I never had to do it so I don’t care if it gets done. Quite a pair the two of us would make in the cleaning aspect.” He let out a chuckled as he sifted through the end table looking for Advil, whether or not she wanted it she was going to take it. It just happened to work out that the brunette was excited to hear about the fact that he had it in his possession. He heard her request for water and he just smiled and continued with his story about the football players. He had not really expected her to ask about his habits, but to say that the Trent brothers had been less than thrilled whenever Kay had started dating him well it was not good. “Well just one set of brothers. And there were three of them, but it works now because they are pretty cool. Especially now that their sister is my best friend, they just were not thrilled whenever we dated back in the day.” He shrugged his shoulders as he stood from the couch. He was trying to get the motivation to leave her side.
Brody stood there trying to come up with a few ideas of how he could possibly entertain the brunette girl that seemed to be a bit edgy. She was most certainly something that he was not used to. He was used to Kay being the sweetheart that she was, but here was Ashton breaking every little thing that he had been used to. She was something in a whole other level of being amazing. The sexual tension was certainly there as he could see himself wanting her, and if he had not become the man he was now he would have been all over her. Instead he tried to think of something that they could do that would not put her to sleep. “Well, I am certainly up for an all nighter, and I think I even have some energy drinks in my fridge. Yes, I have my own fridge and television in bedroom. I however refuse to study there, which is why all the books and shit are currently here.” He shrugged his shoulders and finally moved to the kitchen to get her some water. He racked his brain for some ideas, but the only thing that really came to mind was his extensive movie collection that he had been working on since he was ten years old. His movies selection had always been different than the other kids around his age, but that was who he was. “I think I could be up for the task, but I don’t know what you normally like to do. I do however, have a massive movie collection if you feel up for that. There is a whole trunk of movies in my room.” He watched as she took the glass and swallowed the pills. He reached for her hand to show her where they would more than likely be locked up inside his room for the rest of the evening. “I can have Lainey bring us home food too if you want. But you are going to have to come back to my room. Besides it is much more comfortable there, and you can even lay down and pick a movie or two.” He pulled her to her feet gently and waited to see if she was going to be okay to walk or if he should carry her. Either would have been fine with him, but he looked at her. She was certainly gorgeous in her own little way, and she intrigued him more than any other girl in Arietta had ever done. She certainly had a quality that he could not put his finger on and it was going to bother him until he figured her out.

Ashton could say that she had never planned for her day to go like this. She had figured she would head to the grocery store and get her things and then head back to her tiny little apartment to find something to occupy herself. It had seemed like it was going to be a rather dull day for the young girl. Who knew getting a concussion was the best thing that would have ever happened to her. She was having a pretty good time right now despite her splitting headache, and things were looking very promising to her. “Yeah, maybe that is it. I never had to do it so I don’t care if it gets done. Quite a pair the two of us would make in the cleaning aspect.” She laughed. This was definitely true. “Oh yes, we would fail quite miserably I think.” She’d hate to see what a place would look like if she and him shared it and had to pick up after themselves. There was a great chance that nothing at all would ever get cleaned. It would be interesting. “Well just one set of brothers. And there were three of them, but it works now because they are pretty cool. Especially now that their sister is my best friend, they just were not thrilled whenever we dated back in the day.” Ash couldn’t help but grin at that. “I’m sure they like you much better now that you’re not dating their sister. It’s a good way to earn favor with older brothers, I’ve been told.” She laughed. Not that she had ever had much trouble with such things. She had never had protective older brothers. Not that she had attracted a lot of guys in her lifetime, either. She had never been the most popular girl in school.
“Well, I am certainly up for an all nighter, and I think I even have some energy drinks in my fridge. Yes, I have my own fridge and television in bedroom. I however refuse to study there, which is why all the books and shit are currently here.” A quick glance around and she caught sight of them. “I see. So that makes the bedroom the fun place to be then, right?” She really needed to stop, but it was extremely hard. She was kind of excited about and all nighter, though. That was sure to be fun. “I think I could be up for the task, but I don’t know what you normally like to do. I do however, have a massive movie collection if you feel up for that. There is a whole trunk of movies in my room.” She smiled. “Okay, sure. Sounds good. Though you totally have to find something that is sure to keep my attention.” Because Ashton was slightly ADHD, and that was a fact he was probably going to find out sooner rather than later. The movies were going to have to be amazing if he expected them to keep her attention for the rest of the night. “I can have Lainey bring us home food too if you want. But you are going to have to come back to my room. Besides it is much more comfortable there, and you can even lay down and pick a movie or two.” That sounded pretty good to Ash. “Well I’m pretty sure you’ll have many movies that I haven’t seen. Never been much of a movie watcher.” For obvious reasons. “I did sneak into the midnight showing of Harry Potter once, though. That was pretty cool.” It was no secret by now that she was a bit of a criminal. He shouldn’t be surprised by her little information about sneaking into a movie theater. He held out his hand to her and pulled her to her feet and Ashton didn’t bother to pull her hand from his when she finally stood. “And food sounds amazing. I’m starving!” She grinned, following him into his room where she took a seat on the edge of his bed, her dark eyes glancing around and taking everything in before her eyes found him again.
“So I have to ask. Do all the girls find their way to your bedroom shortly after meeting you, or is that just me?” She grinned and laughed a little, unable to keep the comment to herself, try as she might. She crossed one leg over the other, looking around for the said trunk he had talked about that contained his movie collection. “So, this movie,” she said without skipping a beat. “What did you have in mind? I have a rather short attention span, so you’ll want to make it good.” She waited, figuring that he was the expert on this and she honestly had no idea where anything was, so it was entirely up to him. She was kind of excited for it, though, whatever it was that came next.
