The clocked ticked by slowly in Connor's Media History class. He had spent the last half hour glancing at it every minute or so, hoping time would jump thirty minutes in about five. Normally, he was attentive and interactive in his media and communications classes, but today he just couldn't focus. He hadn't offered his opinion once during the whole class and when the professor asked him for it, he couldn't say anything substantial. He got like this every time he had a first date, if you wanted to call it that. He wasn't even going to go that far. It was just lunch and coffee. Sure, that would be classified as a date in his book. He'd offered, she'd accepted. He just didn't want her to get the wrong idea from him. He didn't even know the woman and was a bit afraid she wouldn't be what he had imagined. That was doubtful because of the music she listened to and the way she chatted over instant messenger, but you never could tell these days. He shouldn't even be thinking anything yet, he had yet to get through the lunch.
Finally class ended, a few minutes early to Connor's glee, and he ran out of class to the parking lot. He'd left a change of clothes in his car but only changed his over-shirt and hoodie to something more conservative. It was still winter in Maine, but a heat wave swept the North East, bringing temperatures into the whopping 40s. Compared to the single digits they had been having, it was hot. At least it was melting the snow. Throwing his old clothes in the backseat, Connor started his car and headed into town. It was lunch hour so finding a parking spot was difficult, but Connor didn't ind walker. In fact, he had planned on it. Finding a spot a few blocks from the coffee shop, Connor made sure he had his wallet and cell before heading in the direction of his date. Or...whatever it was.
As he got closer to the coffee shop he tried to see if there was anyone standing outside as if they were waiting for someone. There were a few people, but they were talking amongst themselves as if they had just exited the establishment and were finishing their conversation before parting ways. Connor didn't want to seem too anxious, even though he was a bit nervous. He hoped he wasn't a disappointment to her, though his slightly enlarged ego told him otherwise. Stopping in front of the coffee shop, Connor quickly scanned the street. He didn't even know whom he was looking for since he had no idea what this girl looked like. Upon realizing this, he pulled out his phone to check the time. She still had five minutes, which gave him five minutes to cook up all sorts of visuals. He tried to keep them casual and appropriate, but it was hard to do with so little information. He just hoped he wasn't going to get stood up.

Hadley Walker should have been in class that afternoon, but instead she figured what the hell. Her attendance record was spotty and had gotten herself a few many detentions. It was nothing out of the ordinary for the eighteen year old who did not give a fuck about anyone around her. Her parents had had many a talk with the eldest of their twins, but Hadley had ideas for herself. She was content living in her little stoner world, getting high, drinking when she wanted, and sleeping with whomever crossed her mind that day. The brunette could really care less what someone thought about her because she was the kind of person who just did not care. So she was a bit unconventional, and her music taste definitely showed that. When she had been cruising the internet yesterday, she had not wanted to meet a guy that was taking requests. Hell she had been content playing music with Jaime pretending that it was never happening. She was a secretive girl, and had threatened him that if he spoke a word of it he would regret it. Hadley had her own way about things and that was a simple fact. She just could not care, but that had changed that afternoon. She had not really been interested in her classes that afternoon, and the hot date that was waiting at the coffee shop.
The logical explanation for what her plans were to pretend that she was going to school and then go find somewhere to hang out and do whatever she wanted. Tea had been missing in action lately, but seeing as how Hadley was going to have to walk to the coffee shop, well hey what was the point. The brunette took out her pack of cigarettes and started chain smoking like she normally did. So this Connor guy seemed kind of interesting seeing as how he did not listen to Hollywood Undead, one of the eldest twin’s favorite bands. She varied and ran around the scope of music, but her constant go to bands were full of angst and just rock music. She steered away from the pop shit unless it had a kick ass piano part and even then she would see the music as it played in her ears. She put the ear buds in her ears as she inhaled on her cigarette letting the nicotine hit her system. So maybe she was a little nervous, because this guy seemed a little too good to be true. He took her snide comments and ran with them, hell he even made a shout out to her on the air. Something a girl could get used too, and she was sure to make sure that her remarks were going to be heard even as they continued on with their little whatever. Today was just about coffee and getting something to eat. She tossed the cigarette aside as it was finished and reached for the pack that was burning in her back pocket.
She was surprisingly on time for something, as she rounded the corner to get to the coffee shop. She wasn’t really paying attention as she pulled the ipod out of her pocket to look at the time. At as she was fumbling with it and the cigarette with her other hand and then all of a sudden there was a body that was in front of her. Alright so instead of paying attention to where she was going she was fucking around with an ipod that had in turn had the girl falling on her ass. She glared up the person who had so rudely not been paying attention to what was going on around him. Hadley looked up and that is when it struck her, this was probably her date. The cigarette was dangling from her lips, and she jammed the ipod in her pocket and pushed herself to her feet. “Lemme guess, you’re Connor, right?” She waited for his answer as she dusted off her ass and took the last hit from her cigarette and threw it aside. “Well, this is the perfect way to meet. My ass is fine by the way, fairly certain it isn’t broken or anything.” She smirked at him and tried to judge how he would react to her smartass remarks, and decided now was probably the time to introduce herself. “I’m Hadley, you’re date.”

While he was waiting for his date, Connor received a text from one of his classmates asking about the lecture he had missed. In the middle of responding, another text message came through from his older brother then from his sister. Geez, I don't get messages from them in days then they all decide to talk at once. Figures. It always seemed to happen that way. He would get one message from somebody then everyone and their mother decided to draw up conversation at the same time. Normally he wouldn't care if he was looking for something to keep him occupied, but it always seemed to happen when he was in the middle of something important. Technically he wasn't quite in the middle of anything, yet. So he responded to all three messages while he still could. He didn't like to answer his phone when he was already with someone else, not wanting them to think he wasn't interested in whatever they were doing. Again, since he was just waiting he answered the messages. Neither one was quick to respond, so he put his phone away. As he did so, he looked up to notice someone walking toward the coffee shop. She looked around his age, maybe a bit younger. Maybe this was her. She wasn't even paying attention to where she was going, luckily others were and moved around her. It appeared that she was playing with an iPod, while taking a drag from a cigarette. Connor wasn't a smoker, but he didn't hold any disdain for those that were.
Since she wasn't paying attention, Connor continued to watch her trying to imagine this girl as the one on the other end of his instant messenger chat. The door to the coffee shop opened and a guy about Connor's age exited. He was texting on his phone and not paying attention to where he was walking. Connor saw it happening in his head but didn't make a move to stop it. The two collided with one another, the girl falling back on her ass. Connor stifled a chuckle. The pissed look on her face was actually rather cute. “Lemme guess, you’re Connor, right?” The guy just looked at her with a blank expression, offering no response. “Well, this is the perfect way to meet. My ass is fine by the way, fairly certain it isn’t broken or anything. “I’m Hadley, you’re date.”” At this point Connor stepped up to the pair as the other guy began to reveal that he wasn't in fact Connor. "Hi, I'm Connor. Nice to meet you. I'm glad your ass is okay." He extended his hand in invitation. The guy who had interfered with their introduction mumbled a "later" and walked away, going back to his text message conversation.
He found her sarcasm a lot more attractive in person. He had to admit that over the internet it was hard to just what people were saying without the inflection of the voice. Generally, sarcasm was sarcasm but its affect depended greatly on the person trying to use it. Just from those few minutes of observing Hadley he could tell she was the poster girl for sass. She did what she wanted where she wanted whenever she wanted. He liked that confidence and assertiveness in a girl. They could take care of their own. Connor also liked to be the hero, but only when times called for it. It was the weakness tough girls like Hadley hated to show that kept him coming back. Unfortunately, it's what also got him hooked. Than again, he didn't know anything deeper about this girl and was just making his own general assumptions. Hopefully this date taught him more. "Shall we?" He gestured in a "ladies first" manner back toward the direction Hadley had come, away from the coffee shop. He picked the coffee shop as heir meeting place because it was neutral ground, but he had other ideas first.

To say that the brunette was pissed off was an understatement. She was actually kind of graceful, at least to the point that she did not fall on her ass without a reason. Unfortunately she had not been paying attention, so maybe it was her fault. Though that was also not her style to take the blame for anything. She tended to pass the blame off on whomever was around her, and that happened to be the man that was standing before her. Hadley hated when people played dumb, and she was not pleased with what was unfolding before her. She had shoved her ipod in her pocket and started to pull the ear buds out of her ears and was completely set on giving a lashing to the moron who had not been paying attention to her. As she walked, most people moved out of her way. She was not the typical eighteen year old who was considerate or anything like that. She could at least say that she was not the typical junkie she had been back in New York though. Back then she would have completely ignored whomever and snapped for no damn reason whatsoever, but that girl was long since gone. A few months without doing coke and that would do it too you. Hadley had a life that she had been dangerously close to losing when she lived in New York, and sure she bitched and moaned every day about having to move. She would never admit it, but this move was exactly what she had needed. Sure she had not started to play music again, but she was at least getting some of her act together. She was not about to stop smoking or start playing the piano anytime soon, but at least it was something Hadley could live with now.
Falling on her ass though was not something that she was too thrilled with, and whenever her smartass remarks started to fly the dumbass just stared at her blankly. He seriously had no idea who she was? He looked like a fucking moron, and she stood up and dusted off her ass. Whenever she said who she was he still looked at her like an idiot, and then there was another male who stepped up to watch the wreckage that was Hadley. Instead he offered her his hand, and he decided that he was her date. Alright, it was not a terrible trade off. This version of Connor was a hell of a lot better looking than the asshat that had decided to knock her on her ass. She looked him over and decided that this was not a bad idea after all. She would have to see if he could handle Hurricane Hadley in person or if he could just catch her insane sarcasm on the internet. Normally she was even more pleasant in person. “I bet you are glad my ass is okay. You are just lucky that it wasn’t you that knocked me on my ass.” Yeah, he was definitely attractive and was going to be able to keep her interest. Something she was hoping because Hadley was the girl that got bored easily. She did watch the Connor impersonator bounce out, and was glad that he was not her date. She would have faked an illness and went back to school. Now she was somewhat glad she had decided to skip.
The eighteen year old had been told more than once that her attitude was attractive, considering it had gotten her a few friends since she moved to this town. It had certainly worked to her advantage whenever Kaler had met her in the bar. It was somewhat interesting to her, but it was whatever. She waited to see what her date was going to do, and that was whenever he gestured back in the direction that the brunette had come. She raised an eyebrow and was just kind of confused. “Where the hell are you taking me? I thought we were getting coffee?” She was slightly confused but it was whatever. She did her about face and started to walk. That was when she noticed that he had not moved yet, so she tossed a glance back over her shoulder as she pulled the cigarettes out of her back pocket, praying to God that her fall had not crushed them, and put one to her lips. So she was a bit of chain smoker, Connor was just going to have to deal with it because she just did not care what he thought. She lit the cigarette and pulled it from her lips so she could speak. “Well, are you coming or are you just gonna stand there and watch my ass walk away? I know you like it and all, but I thought we had a date?” Oh yes, Hadley was in true form this afternoon. Connor was going to have to prove his worth, and see if he was really worth her time.

Connor could tell he was in for quite an experience this afternoon, but he was up for it. There hadn't been much excitement in his life the past couple weeks, having split with his girlfriend. She wasn't really his girlfriend, more of a friend with benefits. That was exactly what caused them to separate. She wanted more, Connor didn't. He backed down just like every other time with every other girl. He had a problem with commitment and avoided it at all costs. Why exactly he couldn't say because he loved the idea of a serious relationship, but that's all it ever was - an idea. The real thing scared him for unknown reasons. Until he was able to figure out those reasons and find a way to overcome them, he just kept his distance. He wasn't using Hadley as a rebound, he didn't do that. He just saw opportunity to meet someone new and ran with it. If it worked, it would certainly be an interesting match up, if not, then he met a girl he'd never forget. That he could tell already.
“I bet you are glad my ass is okay. You are just lucky that it wasn’t you that knocked me on my ass.” Connor raised an eyebrow as a smirk found a place on his lips. "At least I would have apologized and offered to help you up." He wanted to smack that other guy upside the head. It appeared he had been so absorbed in his conversation his brain wasn't able to register anything else. Yeah, typical guy. He was probably sexting and trying to fight a boner until he got back to his apartment where he could take care of it. Connor remembered a similar incident happening to his brother while they were shopping for their mother's birthday gift at the mall. An incident he would have liked to forget, but unfortunately it was those sorts of memories that never went away. So, he was just going to keep his thoughts on the present and the bewildered expression on Hadley's face. "We'll come back for coffee. I don't want to be late. Trust me, you'll like it. Well, I hope so anyway." He had planned their lunch date on a whim and just hoped she wouldn't think it was totally stupid.
Connor waited for her to decide if she wanted to go along with him or label him a perv and end their date here and now. When she turned back and said, “Well, are you coming or are you just gonna stand there and watch my ass walk away? I know you like it and all, but I thought we had a date?” he guessed he received his answer. "I thought about it, but then I remembered you have no idea where we are going." Connor caught up to Hadley so they could be on their way. Connor led them down the street the coffee shop was on, making a pit-stop as his car, realizing he forgot the main course of the day. "Forgot we are going to need this." He pulled out a plain brown shopping bag then started down the street once again. He then turned onto the main street of town. He had to admit, he was a bit excited for this lunch. He only hoped Hadley would enjoy it as well, it wasn't too often he could cook up this sort of surprise.
Connor stopped in front of a tall brick building, the tallest on the street and rang the buzzer. "Yes?" A male voice crackled through the security speaker. "Connor Wells, one-nine-two-six-one-five." A moment later the door unlocked and Connor held it open for Hadley to enter first. "I promise you my intentions are pure. This isn't some sort of halfway house or...MI6 headquarters or anything." He waited for her to enter before following behind and heading to the security desk. The guard handed Connor a visitor's pass which, in turn, he handed to Hadley. "I tried to get you out of that one, but no go. You don't have to wear it, just keep it handy." Connor nodded to the guard then turned for the stairs and went to the second floor. They were standing outside a door with an "ON AIR" sign lit above it, then another sign on the door that read "Do not enter when sign is lit." Connor ignored the warning and opened the door to the studio of his radio station. Well, not his but the one he worked at. The guys outside the glass turned to greet Connor before bringing their attention back to the sound room. Jake, the current DJ, was sitting across from the guys from Chevelle conducting a live on air interview. He waved to Connor in acknowledgment then nodded as one of the guys on the outside of the glass waved a single digit, indicating there was one minute until commercial. Connor turned to Hadley, setting the brown bag on an empty table. "I hope you like Chevelle, and Chinese. I thought this would be a more interesting first date than sitting at a diner forcing out small talk." Now was the moment of truth; he waited for her reaction.

So her day was starting a little different than she had expected. Connor wasn’t even taking her for coffee, which was what she thought was the plan. Instead he said there was somewhere else to go, not that she was complaining. Seeing how someone planned a date normally was a make or break kind of thing. Normally Hadley did not have more than one date with any given person, unless she was using them to fulfill her own sexual desires. Which is normally how it all happened with her. Hadley hated the idea of actually getting in a relationship, and the feeling of being tied down to anyone. The idea of losing her freedom is what had turned her to drugs in the first place. Whenever her parents started pushing her into playing piano she quit and went off in her own rebellion. The brunette was stubborn and did not like being told what to do in the least. Sure eventually Hadley knew that she was going to have to calm down and be a normal teenager and grow up; until that day came she was going to be the same person she had been for years. She did not take shit from anyone, and the only time she was not more stubborn than someone was whenever she was stoned. Which happened more often than not, but she was always down to smoke some weed. It was how she coped with everything, and how she still managed to rebel even being in this shit hole that was Arietta.
So far, Connor had proved to be alright, but he still had a long way to go. The best part was that he took her criticism and sarcasm like a champ. Not many people knew how to take the snarky older twin when it came to her attitude, hell her teachers did not know what to do with her most of the time. Making her comment about her ass was quite funny, at least it was too her, but what Connor said almost made her smile. She dared not to, but the idea of him helping her up was kind of sweet. “Well you know if you would have helped then you wouldn’t have got to see my little temper and my super fine ass. Now would you?” She was in a bit of a mood, but that was exactly who she was. She could be extremely crass if she wanted to be, but most just called her a little spitfire or something along those lines. She did what she wanted with whomever she wanted whenever she wanted. If someone didn’t like it they could leave or get the fuck out of her way. It wasn’t like she was asking for them to stick around, but for some reason she could see this guy coming into her life in a way she hadn’t expected. It was something she was still getting used to, but coming back for coffee was fine with her. Her expression though was completely priceless and she knew that. She left her eyebrow raised and smirked a bit. “And how do you know I will like anything you have planned? I am a very complex girl that defies expectations, so your regular tricks to woo a female is not going to work with me.”
It was then that she took a drag on the cigarette that was in her fingers as she waited for him to join her on this walk. Hadley really wanted to believe that Connor could figure out that she did not really do small talk, she was a smartass. She liked to sling insults and just be who she was. It was kind of hard to explain most of the time how the brunette acted, unless you were putting her with Hailey and that was just a polar opposite reaction. Hearing his reaction to her walking away, she did smirk. “Good point, but who knows where I would have lead us if I was just walking. But you know you would have liked the view.” Hadley laughed lightly, but she knew it was true. Not many men could resist her ass, and she knew it. They made a bit stop in their walk, and she looked at him like “how could you forget something for our date?” it was easy, because if it were Hadley planning this thing there would have been a lot of things forgotten or she just would have gotten food to begin with. Connor was now carrying a brown paper bag, something she was used to seeing but not in this context. She just hoped that it was food in that bag because she was starving! It also didn’t help that she hadn’t eaten anything yet today, and coming down off of the cocaine addiction she was eating like a freaking horse. Hadley was not really paying attention as she smoked her cigarette and walked beside Connor, occasionally she stole glances over at him. Somehow she had managed to snag a gorgeous guy who was putting up with her attitude, something special in itself.
That was when she noticed that they were stopped in front of some building, and the number coming out of his mouth made her raise an eyebrow. This looked like the rehab clinic that her parents had tried to get her in months ago back in New York. When Hadley had refused to go in, since she was eighteen, they moved her ass to Arietta. She was kind of nervous about what was going on, but there he was telling her it was going to be okay. She took the pass in her hand, and decided to tie it around her belt loop. She wasn’t going to wear that shit around her neck. Hell to the no. But she followed Connor up the stairs and to the second floor. It was then that it struck her that they were where he worked. The on air sign was the clue, but following him into the booth, Hadley was stunned. She was in the same room as Chevelle, one of her favorite bands. The only way Connor could have made this better was if it had been Hollywood Undead on the other side of the glass. She turned to him, and her face was full of excitement. This was his idea of an interesting date, and this was Hadley’s idea of perfect. “How did you know I liked Chevelle? And how did you get us in here? I mean thank you. And chinese is great” Not like she was going to really be able to eat seeing as how she was about to bounce out of her skin from how excited she was being in the same room as one of her favorite bands. “Thank you. Don’t get use to being told thank you either, but this....this is amazing.” She turned to him and hugged him. Hell she probably would have kissed him if it had not been for the one minute to commercial thing.

It wasn't very often that Connor found his spontaneity. In fact, he never believed he possessed such a trait until the ideas strike him and he just runs with them. It's surprising to even him, that he can come up with such interesting twists to ordinary occasions. One of his dates a while back requested that he be more spontaneous because it kept things interesting, but Connor wasn't a planner. He was reactive, not proactive for the most part. Not to mention, those words made him think he wasn't interesting unless he was doing something new and exciting for his dates. Sure, he liked making sure his dates enjoyed themselves and saw what all he could be, but he wanted them to like him for Connor. It was just lucky that his plans were able to work out the way he wanted them too, otherwise it would have been a waste of a good idea. Having connections wasn't a bad thing either; he was able to pull a few strings here and there. That was how he was able to bring a member of the general public into a closed radio studio. Yes, he was one of the djs, but he had superiors to answer to.
The expression that brightened Hadley's face was enough for Connor. He had definitely stepped in the right territory. His biggest fear of the day was that she wouldn't like the band or think a lunch date at the radio station would be lame. But the excitement in her eyes made it so much more worth it. He couldn't help the grin that crossed his lips when he saw hers. “How did you know I liked Chevelle? And how did you get us in here? I mean thank you. And chinese is great” So many questions that Connor would love to answer. "I won't reveal my secrets." He began pulling out the Chinese take-out containers. "He didn't. He asked everyone in the building if someone who liked Hollywood Undead would also like Chevelle." Connor gave George a look of betrayal, but admitted to it. "Okay, that's true. They were already booked to be on, so it wasn't like I searched the globe trying to get them here just for our date. But, you know, if that makes me look better we can just go with that." He chuckled, crouching down to grab another bag he had stored under the table. When he stood straight and put the bag down, he found himself being pulled into a hug by Hadley. For a moment he was stunned, but then snapped out of it and returned the favor before she pulled back. That was a nice surprise. "You're welcome. I'm just glad it didn't bust. This sort of thing won't happen very often from me either, so fair is fair." He began emptying the second bag, which was full of plates, silverware, glasses, and soda. "Okay, so I wasn't sure what you liked, so I got something from each category off the menu. We have quite the smorgasbord. There's also Coke, Sprite, Orange Soda, or we have beer in the break room next door." He could see the other guys scowling at the food with envy, but he had warned them he was going to be having a lunch date. They should have prepared themselves better.
Connor was about to tell Hadley to dig in whenever she was ready, but just then the door to the studio opened and Jake and Chevelle entered the control room. "You've got three and a half minutes, there's food and drinks in the break room." George, the executive producer, announced. Jake and Connor exchanged greetings, then looked to Hadley. "You must be Connor's date." "Yeah, this is Hadley. Hadley, Jake." "Nice to meet you. I'm sure you know the guys from Chevelle, Pete, Sam, and Dean." He pointed out each band member whom offered their hands in greeting to both Connor and Hadley. Connor shook their hands briefly, letting more time for Hadley to meet the guys. He met his share of musicians in the year he'd been working for the station. It was still an exciting experience every time, but even more so when you knew who the bands and singers were. Connor never admitted it to the ones he didn't know very well, but Chevelle was one of them. He would just let Hadley enjoy her moment.

The brunette was still in shock that this was happening. Never had someone tried to do something like this for her, then again it was not like she dated a dj before. Connor had snuck quite the pleasant little surprise in for their date, and it was something she appreciated more than he could imagine. Okay, so the brunette had gotten to meet a few bands when she was strung out in New York, but that had been when she was too fucked up to function. Today was something she had not expected, but this was a first. The brunette was still in shock that she had reacted that way to finding out exactly where she was. Giving hugs and thanking someone was not what she had expected at all, because Hadley was not this girl. She hardly did anything like this. Normally she passed it off as something that did not deserve her thanks, but knowing the thought that had to go into this even in the least was enough to make a smile permanently fixed to her lips. Her entire face was light up from excitement as they were in the same room as one of her favorite bands. At least Connor listened to her whenever she said she had a different taste in music, but she had not expected him to know this.
Apparently the guy that was on the same side of the glass as the “couple,” apparently his name was George decided to reveal Connor’s secrets. She had just expected him to have connections, but the fact that he had been running around asking about this was even more adorable. She kind or raised an eyebrow and pulled her hands to her hips mocking him just a little. She watched as he took out all the massive amounts of chinese food, and her stomach was beginning to make its presence known again. Hadley was starving, but the fact that Connor had run around asking if she would like Chevelle still made her laugh a little. “See now, I thought you could pick up on a little more than that. Apparently I over estimated your abilities. Kind of sad, because I was almost impressed. George ruined it for you sunshine.” She laughed as he tried to recover his betrayal, but it was cute. He continued to pull stuff out of paper bags, and she just watched him. Connor was kind of adorable doing all of this for their date, but the fact that this had even crossed his mind amazed her. She appreciated it more than he would ever know, and more than she would bother to express. She was always the smart ass and was completely aware that she was putting that front to everyone. Hugging him that was something that she just did. It was a reaction, but whatever. She wasn’t going to sit there and lie and say she didn’t like the fact that his arms wrapped around her. Hadley just didn’t like the idea of settling down. It had never crossed her mind that she would ever want to, but if she had to then it would be with someone who could handle her craziness. “Nah, it wouldn’t have busted. I may have picked on ya a bit, but I would have been okay with meeting any band. Now if you had gone out of your way to put Hollywood Undead in that studio I would love you to death.” She laughed, because Chevelle was awesome but Hollywood Undead was her band. [color-ff66cc] “Hmm, well seeing as how I should be in class right now I’m gonna with some orange soda. And as far as food goes, I am not really that particular. Although, sweet and sour chicken is the shit,”
Hadley smiled, and started to look in all the boxes that Connor had pulled out looking for something to chow down on. Well she was looking in the boxes, and then all of a sudden the door to the studio opened and out came the other dj and Chevelle. Hadley was at a loss for words as she stared at Connor; the brunette could not believe that this was happening. She heard the dj speak to her, and all she could manage to do was nod her head, because she was Connor’s date. Thankfully he took over the speaking as she was sincerely nervous that she was doing this totally sober. Something the brunette had not done in a very long time. Hadley was able to snap out of it as Jake introduced the band; that was when her tongue seemed to work. “That would be a correct assumption there, Ace. You are a bright one.” Hadley’s true colors decided to come to light, and it was a light conversation. She was thankful for Connor doing this for her, and she chatted up the band and soon enough those three and half minutes were gone. Her face bright as she sat down on the couch that surrounded the chinese food she was desperately wanting to attack. Whenever Jake and the guys had slipped back behind the glass she plopped down on the couch and grabbed a random container and a fork. Hadley was so content. “That was amazing! They are just so damn cool, I can’t thank you enough for letting me do this. Let’s just say that the last time I met a band, I was not this sober. So thank you. Best first date ever.” She popped the chicken into her mouth and then offered the container to him, “You want some?”[/blockquote][/blockquote]

The whole group gathered in the control room was engaged in conversation with Chevelle, Connor even chimed in on occasion, but he ended up being more of a listener and observer, taking the few minutes they had to set up a line of Chinese containers and a couple cans of soda. An orange for Hadley as she had requested and Sprite for himself. The few minutes they had to chat passed quickly and suddenly everyone was back to their stations, leaving Hadley and Connor pretty near alone in the back of the room. While Hadley dug into the buffet Connor had laid out, he cleared off a stack of magazines and newspapers from the other end of the couch so he could sit down as well. He was glad to see she had an appetite. A couple of the girls he had dated ate like birds, in the metaphorical term, not literal since birds ate twice their body weight daily. They made to be cheap dates, but he felt like he was always eating alone whenever they went places. He eventually settled with ordering in instead of going out all the time.
Connor took the seat he cleared off and grabbed his soda, popping the tab then taking a sip. “That was amazing! They are just so damn cool, I can’t thank you enough for letting me do this. Let’s just say that the last time I met a band, I was not this sober. So thank you. Best first date ever.” Hearing the part about her not being sober surprised Connor a bit, but then not so much. He could see Hadley being a party girl, which was okay with him. He could party on occasion. He wasn't an every weekend type guy, but when he partied he could go hardcore. There were a few blank spots in his past he would like to fill, or maybe not considering where and how he was when the memories started up again. "I'm glad you're having a good time." He really was, it was a huge relief to know he got something right on the first try. If this went any further than today, he knew he'd have quite the firecracker on his hands. Still, it kept things interesting and him on his toes. He'd been laying dormant for some time now and figured it was time to get back out there.
Connor grabbed a container and began opening it to see what was inside, he had forgotten half of what he bought. He paused when Hadley offered her container of chicken. Snatching his fork off the table, he skewered a piece and popped it in his mouth. "Thanks." He then continued opening the container he picked up, finding it to be shrimp fried rice. Score. He poked his fork into the rice for the first piece of shrimp, of course managing to spill some of the rice onto his lap in the process. "I can never get Chinese take-out without dumping something. At least it wasn't soy sauce this time..." He stood up to brush off the rice onto the floor. He hated to see what else was on that floor. Probably a lot of stuff that would make even the employees scratch their head in wonder of how things managed to get there.
notes sorry, it's kind of icky.

It had been a long time since she had been on a first date that actually meant anything. Hadley could easily see herself wanting to spend more and more time with Connor, because he kept her guessing. Never would she have expected to end up at the radio station to meet one of her favorite bands, but yet here she was. She was sitting on the couch listening to the interview as she was able to shove her face full of all the chinese food she could possibly want. Connor had even gotten her a can of orange soda, and she smiled at him. For some reason he actually listened to what she had to say, which was more than what most men did. Most of them just ignored her, and she just didn’t care. Everything about Hadley’s old life was surrounded by drugs and alcohol, so it did not surprise her that she would mention something about not being sober. She was sure that Connor could make his own assumption about what she meant, but it was doubtful that he would really know what she meant. Hell she may never tell him, because now she was a reformed drug addict, which explained her appetite. The brunette could eat anything and anytime she wanted these days. It never seemed to catch up with her, because now she looked almost exactly like Hailey, which was normal. She was still quite a long way away from being normal and not looking sick whenever her shirt come off.
”I’m glad you are having a good time,” were the words that came from Connor’s lips as she started to house the chicken that she had picked up. Hadley knew that her first impression of meeting Connor was going to leave quite the mark, seeing as how she was the same person no matter how you shook her. Everything about her was different, and she knew that. It was nice to see the true side of Hadley coming instead of her drug induced a coma that had resulted before the school year had started. She was thankful that she was building back the relationship that she shared with Hailey, and now she had someone that wanted to take her on an awesome date that did not include drinking and doing drugs. It was something that she was not used to. “Are you kidding? This is just plain different, now you are going to make me wonder what the next date is going to be like?” She ate her chicken and offered Connor her container, wondering if he was going to take any. Secretly she hoped he would find something else to eat, because the poor girl did not vary whenever she came to chinese food. She listened as the interview continued, but Connor seemed a little out of it what when he wasn’t really talking.
Hadley just listened and then watched as Connor started to shovel his face full of something that he was digging, only to watch it end up all over his lap. Hadley shook her head and hopped over to the other couch so she could sit next to him and maybe help keep all of the food off of the floor. She watched him sit back down after brushing off his pants, and made the hop. “You know, I don’t think I can let you sit by yourself. You make a mess and all the food will end up on the floor.” She shot a look at him so he would know she was teasing, but she laughed at him knowing that more food was going to end up on the floor soon. “You know, no one has ever done something like this. It’s kind of out of the blue for me. But you are doing good mr. dj man.” She nudged him and then let her head fall to his shoulder being somewhat affectionate. Something she was not used to at all, and then started shoving food in her mouth until she decided to take some rice in a spoon and throw it at Connor. The look on his face was priceless, but she shrugged her shoulders and looked at him all innocent “What? It slipped.” and then she did it again. She knew that food was going to be flying all over the place after that, but she really did not care. Hadley did what she wanted when she wanted, and she wanted a food fight.
omg, sarah this is awful i am so sorry!

Connor was only partially listening to the interview going on in the studio over the radio station that was playing through the speakers into the control room. It was pretty cool to listen to a radio station straight from the source. Every sound effect was played right in front of you, every song chosen from the database on the computer two feet away. It was a very cool experience. The only thing that could top it was being on a movie set, something Connor had yet to experience. Today, none of that distracted Connor's thoughts. Instead, he was trying to imagine how long he could go without seeing Hadley again. He found himself being quite drawn to her after only an hour with her in person. He could see how her attitude would turn some people off, but not Connor. He found it appealing. It kept him on his toes and always guessing what would come next with her. He was intrigued by her, something he never quite found in other girls before.
When Hadley said she wondered what their next day was going to be like, Connor didn't respond with words. Instead a grin crossed his lips. So, she liked him enough to anticipate a second date. That was a good sign. Now the only problem was he needed to come up with another wow factor for a second date, or maybe not. Perhaps she would be just as content with a casual second date, something along the lines of pizza and a movie. He did enjoy taking his dates out to dinner, but only after they had known each other long enough to negate small talk. He wasn't much of a fan. There were too many awkward pauses and conversations about how good/bad the rolls were or how soft and spreadable the butter was. It was just a waste of words and breath. He'd rather watch a movie and not say anything at all. Perhaps it was that statement that made him lose his concentration and dump some of the fried rice on his lap, perhaps it was just him being a klutz, either way he just wasted a good two mouthfuls of Chinese.
At first he didn't notice Hadley had moved seats, until he sat back down after brushing the mess he made onto the floor and there she was. He didn't slide away, knowing she would more than likely notice and blow everything. Instead, he just went with it, acting like she had been there the whole time even though his head started working double time. "I could definitely use a bib, you just can't take me anywhere." That was certainly true when he was a kid. There was never a memory at a restaurant or family function that Connor didn't dump or break something. He got better the older he got, but there were still occasions such as this where he reverted to his childhood tenancies. Connor willed himself to be more careful instead of looking like a slob, but these things happened. He picked up his rice and went back to eating until Hadley's head found its way onto his shoulder. She had just said something but Connor couldn't remember what it was two seconds after their contact. He looked at the top of her head without moving his own, feeling his head beat harder against his chest. That was something new on a first date for him.
He tried not to let his body stiffen as if to resist the contact, but her head had moved away just before he lost control of his muscles. He relaxed, but was a bit disappointed she had moved away so fast. Still, he was glad she had done it at all. Now that he was finally able to swallow the food that had been in his mouth, Connor took control of the situation once again. That is, until he was showered by a spoonful of rice. He jumped from the couch to brush the rice from his hair and stare at Hadley. “What? It slipped.” Oh, so she wanted to play this game. "And I suppose the lo mein just jumped out of the container." He grabbed the box of lo mein and pulled as much out with three fingers as he could before dropping it over Hadley's head and lap, laughing as it did. "Game on, Sassy."

There was something totally different about how the short girl interacted with Connor and everyone else. He was able to make her lose sight of the person that she had been, and see the person that she wanted and needed to become. He reminded her of the person that she used to be back before the drugs had taken over her life. Back whenever her life had revolved around the music that she was currently listening to and the interview that had brought her here to begin with. It was not unlike Hadley to assume that there was going to be a second date, especially because she felt drawn to him. Something about Connor made her want to know everything about him, and she didn’t want to hide anything from him. Something that was a huge change for her because she she hid everything. She was a skilled liar and did anything in her power to keep up her badass front. LIttle by little she seemed to be slipping into the carefree girl that she had thought had long since been lost. But as much as the carefree piece of her innocent self was making an appearance, there was still the regular Hadley that did not give a fuck about what another single person thought about her. Something about Connor though, it was just so different from what she was used to, and it kind of scared her. Emotions were not something she did with anyone ever, and Hailey was going to have one hell of time whenever she found out that there were these things floating around in her little body. It was crazy for her to think that this was happening.
Questioning about their next date seemed logical, because it was her way of saying that she wanted to be around him. Everything about Connor made her want to spend time with him, as weird as that was. He took all of her sarcasm in stride and often fought back with her realizing that she was a spitfire with an attitude. Most people were put off by her, but something about him made her even more comfortable with who she was. Something she craved more than anything else. His smile though made her realize that a second date was definitely going to happen, and she didn’t even care what it was. She would be content staying in and watching movies. The girl did not need wooed for the most part, every once in a while she liked to be paraded, but Hadley was not the girl that did relationships. It was going to take a lot to actually get her to be tied down, and she honestly had no idea if she was capable of that. Hadley wanted to spend time with Connor though, and a second date was definitely in order. An hour in his presence and she was already craving more from him. It was insane to think that one person could have this kind of affect on her, and to think that there were two men that wanted her attention. Jaime had made sure to take the brunette out for Valentine’s Day, but Connor was actually doing something completely insane and brought her to a studio. This was insane and Hadley was not used to this at all.
The brunette knew that she probably caused the clumsiness of Connor, which was why she had jumped ship. She wanted to be close to him, even if she wouldn’t admit that she liked him. She craved the attention that he wanted to give her. When her head hit his shoulder it was awkward and at the same time it felt right. It was so weird, but she wanted to stay there like that. Until she had pulled away and ate some of her chicken. He was talking about not taking him anywhere and she laughed. “Well looks like we are staying in for date number two. I hope that you have some good ass movies, because I get bored easily. But I guess I could be okay with not taking you out into the big bad world.” Actually Hadley would have been perfectly content not sharing him with anyone else, and if relationships where her thing she might actually consider that being an option. Unfortunately she was not, so this was going to be a disaster if he tried to get her to settle. She needed to pull herself out of whatever was going on in her head, and that was when she had scooped up the rice and flung it at him. What came next, she had not totally expected. “And I suppose the lo mien just jumped out of the container?” She shrugged her shoulders before smirking at him. “Apparently it likes you a little too much.” As soon as the words slipped from her lips, she watched in horror as he scooped up the lo mien and it was falling on her head and lap. He had stolen her carton and that had not made Hadley a happy camper.
Instead the brunette stood up, standing at a pathetic five foot two inches, and grabbed one of the many cartons that had not been touched yet. Seeing one full of noodles she scooped it up and then more words slipped from his lips. “Game on, Sassy.” Hadley smirked and then took a handful of noodles and threw it at him. She was standing on the opposite side of the table as she tried to duck away from the rice that was flying at her. The entire time she was throwing noodles at him and trying to make sure nothing got in her hair. Hadley knew that everyone in the booth was watching them, hell George was watching everything as she ran around the room trying to avoid Connor. “You will lose this Mr. DJ man.” That was when she ducked behind George and then stuck her head from around the chair and stuck her tongue at him. She knew that Connor dared not throw food at him, but she could only hide there for so long. “Alright truce? I promise to play nice.” Hadley tried to look all innocent, but she had other ideas in mind. She just hoped that Connor took her truce and let her get close enough for her plan to work.
