this post is tagged for james alexander hale . it is dunzo and has seven hundred and eighty two words. the one and only christina perri contributed to this inspiration from the song jar of hearts . this template was created by the amazing amber you steal it and there will be an angry baby who will eat your brains no joke. additional notes </3 ______________________ It had been something that was building, the doubt in her mind would not go away. How could she be so blind to realize that there was a very real possibility that James Hale would cheat on her. If it was not cheating then it was something else. She never seemed to have a relationship that made it past a few months. Nothing seemed to matter to her, and Shayne had almost skipped her best friend’s birthday. It was just too much, and she had been doing a damn good job of avoiding everything that was going on in her life. Hell she had been successfully dodging Jem for a few weeks. She would see him at work, but that was about it. She made sure that her shifts were the opposite of his so that she could blame it on work most of the time. Sooner or later she was going to have to confront this situation head on, it seemed that tonight was going to be that night. She could not believe that this was happening, and that they had gone from being so happy and all of that to the sadness that ached her heart. She was breaking and that was easy to see. Shayne was glued to Vidette’s side with her masquerade mask tied to her face. It was like it was truly hiding the pain that was in her heart, that only three people knew about, Andy, Landon, and Rockie. She had not even had the courage to tell Vidette about the paranoia that was in her heart. She stood there like the good girl that she was celebrating her best friend’s birthday, knocking back champagne glasses like it was water. She was having a hard time dealing with everything, but that was besides the point. This was Vidette and Stella’s night, and she had no business ruining it, but that was when she thought she saw something.
Shayne had excused herself for Vidette’s side, and followed the brunette that she had caught out of the corner of her eye. She looked similar, but that was something that was different. Something about the way that she carried herself that told her that this was the girl that Rockie had told her about. This was the girl that had been putting moves on her boyfriend, so Shayne followed her. Her long dark tresses falling in curls but this was Shayne. She knew where Jem was, but had not bothered to keep tabs on him. He was off enjoying himself with the boys, just like she had been doing so with the girls. There was nothing wrong with that, but Shayne kept her eyes on this brunette as she flitted around the party. That was when she saw her dancing with her boyfriend. Shayne hadn’t even gotten a dance from him, but there he was dancing with this girl. The same girl that made the knots come in her stomach, the same thing that was causing the sting of tears pool to her eyes. They seemed so happy, happier than Shayne and James had been in a long while. It was her fault, but the scene unfolding before her eyes stated otherwise. Shayne had thought that it had been all paranoia and she was truly trying to work through that small fact. She knew that Jem would never cheat on her, that he loved her and wanted her. She had a drawer and was told that he loved her. This was not how it was supposed to be, she was not supposed to get this feeling like she was watching the relationship unfold. The cheaters had been exposed, and now she watched in horror at the next thing that happened.
The brunette that was in his arms kissed him, and he kissed her back. He had pushed her away or anything, she watched the kiss that was the end of her relationship. She wanted to break down and there it was the end of the song, and Jem had seen her. He walked towards her and she just had tears rolling down her cheeks in sadness. She was done. She had never felt worse than she did in that moment. Everything was falling to the ground, all of the progress she had made after Kaler was gone. She was distraught and heartbroken. She felt his hand touch her and then she pushed it away. “Who is she, and why were you kissing her?” Her brown eyes were so sad that when she looked at him she knew that she was breaking. Everything about her was breaking, and she had no reason to be there right now.

Jem honestly didn’t know what was going on anymore. Things seemed to be so great one minute, and then suddenly they were taking a turn for the worse, leaving him to wonder what it was that he was left with. Shayne had been ignoring him, and he got the sneaky suspicion that it was all done on purpose. The opposite shifts, the unanswered phone calls. He had no idea what to do about all of it. He had honestly never had a relationship feel like it was falling apart so quickly at the seams before. But what could he honestly do about it when she wouldn’t even talk to him. So Jem had dressed that night without Shayne and gone to the Garland Triplet’s party. He was close with them, and he had a feeling that if he didn’t make an appearance that night Evie would track him down and drag his ass there whether he liked it or not. That was just how she was. So he was here, present in hand and mask in place. He expected Shayne to be here, too, and he looked or her, though it was next to impossible to tell who anyone was with all the masks. Shayne had to be here, though. Vidette was her best friend, and she wouldn’t just not show up for her birthday.
It was Evelyn that found him first, though, and she drug him out on the dance floor for a dance. Jem wasn’t much of a dancer, but his refusals fell on deaf ears and eventually he sighed and gave in, letting her pull him out and took her in his arms, too. It was a fairly good dance, too, Jem almost enjoying himself until Evie decided to kiss him. It shocked him, but only for a moment before he was pushing her away and breaking whatever it was up that she thought she was doing. No. That was not going to happen. He was in love with Shayne, and that was the only girl he wanted to be with. Evelyn was going to accept that fact whether she wanted to or not. That was the way it was, and Jem was no cheater. He never would be, either. It was as she walked away from him that he finally caught site of Shayne. Even with her mask on he would know her anywhere and a smile actually came to his lips at seeing her. He walked towards her, but what he expected was not what he received in the slightest. She was upset, and Jem couldn’t even begin to understand why. He touched her arm but she smacked him away, and now he was really confused. “Who is she, and why were you kissing her?” Jem was completely shocked. She thought he had kissed her? She couldn’t have been more wrong. “Shayne I didn’t kiss her. She kissed me.” Yeah, she was going to believe that one. It was the oldest cheater’s line in the book. A cheater Jem was not. “Shayne?” He said, begging her to believe him because it really was the truth. “I pushed her away. I... I don’t want to kiss anyone but you.” Though she didn’t look convinced. “You honestly think I would cheat one you?” He asked, hurt, the realization truly coming to him that that was exactly what his girlfriend thought. It did hurt, because everyone knew that Jem would never, ever do something like that. He just wasn’t that kind of guy. He never would be, either.

This was not supposed to have happened to her and not this fast. They had been so happy not that long ago that she had even thought about moving in with him. Something that she was so stupid to think now, because she was unravelling. Rockie had place enough doubt in her that she had been staying at Landon’s more than usual. This was hard on her as her tears filled her eyes as she watched a kiss. She could not even bring herself to watch the reaction that was coming especially if Jem saw her. He had found the brunette with tears in her eyes. Shayne wanted everything to be alright, but she knew that was never going to happen. Not after everything that she had been put through with Kaler. There was no way that she would be able to do that to herself again, because she needed someone who was not going to hurt her. She had thought that man was James Hale, but after seeing a kiss from someone that was not her well her heart was broken. She felt his hand on her arm and she pushed it away. It was just not something that she wanted, she did not want to know that she loved him and that this was going to be hard. Shayne knew that doing what she felt she had to was going to break her into a million pieces, and she was not sure if she would be able to pick herself up after this one again.
He wanted to tell her that he had not kissed her, whenever she had clearly seen it. “Jem, I saw you.” It was not like her brown eyes had lied to her and had not seen the kiss that happened. The line that he had tried to use had caused the tears to flow from her eyes. It was a cheater’s line, a line that she had heard many many times. Nothing that she should not have expected, but she had wanted to believe that he was not cheating on her. The way his voice was pleading with her was telling her that what she had seen was in her mind. It was hard to realize that this was going to be her doing. “I pushed her away. I... I don’t want to kiss anyone but you.” It was breaking her heart to stand there and do this with him. Her voice seemed caught in her throat because she could barely bring herself to speak as he questioned her. “You honestly think I would cheat on you?” She loved him, and she knew that was the reason that this was so much harder on her. She was head over heels in love with him. Shayne Brennan had become one of those girls and this was so hard on her. Finally pulling words, she kept her voice low. She did not want to ruin Vidette and Stella’s birthday. “I don’t want to believe that, but yes. I have no reason not too; not when people have seen you flirting with the tramp that you were just kissing.” The tears obviously flowing freely from her eyes as she spoke about how Rockie and Izzy had seen him having dinner with her. Shayne just didn’t know if she could bear the thought of losing someone else that she cared more about than anything, but she knew that she could not let herself get hurt like she had with Kaler. It was a conundrum that she was not sure she wanted to face.

“Jem, I saw you.” No. She had seen Evelyn kiss him and him pushing her away. It was nothing, nothing at all. Because Jem didn’t have those feelings for Evie like he did for Shayne. Shayne Brennan was the only girl he wanted to be with. She made him happy and everything had just been so good between them. How was it that things could be so good and now they had come to this in no time at all? It was just insane. Jem honestly couldn’t believe they were standing here, her telling him that she didn’t believe him or what he was saying. Didn’t she know him well enough by this point to know that he was honest and would never, ever do something like this to her? How many times did he have to prove to her that he wasn’t like Kaler or all the other jerks out there. “I don’t want to believe that, but yes. I have no reason not too; not when people have seen you flirting with the tramp that you were just kissing.” He honestly couldn’t believe this was happening and it took everything to keep his jaw from dropping. Instead it clenched. “You would honestly believe them over me?” Though he was sure of the answer before she even said anything. It hurt. It really did, but it didn’t look like anything he said was going to change her mind. “Well,” he said rather coldly, “I can see you’ve already made up your mind about this. So why don’t you just say what it is you want to say, Shayne.” Maybe it was cruel to act like that, but what she was doing was even worse, and it was honestly the only way that Jem was going to keep a handle on himself. “And for your information, that tramp, as you call her, is Stella and Vidette’s sister.” She hadn’t believed him on anything else, so he was thinking the chances of her believing him on that one were slim too. “Though if you don’t believe me, which clearly you’re not believing anything I say, you can ask Viddy yourself.” He waited for her to say something, to just get this all over with because this was entirely too painful to deal with right now. The sooner this was over the sooner he could leave. Clearly their relationship hadn’t been as solid as he had thought, because with one little snag they were falling apart. Trust was a big thing to Jem, and if Shayne couldn’t believe him and trust him like he trusted her, then there was no point in doing this. She was ruining everything.

this post is tagged for james alexander hale . it is dunzo and has four hundred and sixty nine words. the one and only christina perri contributed to this inspiration from the song jar of hearts . this template was created by the amazing amber you steal it and there will be an angry baby who will eat your brains no joke. additional notes </3 ______________________ So he wanted to say that he had pushed her away, and maybe he had. She had not watched the entire thing unfold. She had turned her back on the situation realizing that her doubts were enough to crush her in that moment. Everything about this situation was insane! They were supposed to end up happy; they were supposed to be like Jared and Randi. Instead they were falling apart whenever they were starting. It was a mess, and maybe it was her own fault. It was enough to feel like the sky was falling, and trusting someone did not come easily for the brunette. He had been her world for the past few months, the reason that she was breathing. Here they were falling apart, and it was her fault. She heard his voice as he spoke, and she should have not been surprised that he was upset. It just hurt her beyond all comparison; nothing was going to change this. “I don’t know what to believe, that is the problem!” His words were cold, and she should have expected nothing less. She knew that he had loved her, whether he did now or not was in question. Tears flowing from her eyes she did not want to end things with him, but how could one have a relationship with someone that it was so unclear if they could trust each other. But the next bit of information shocked the brunette more than anything. There was another Garland sister? Well it would explain why they said that she looked like Vidette and Stella, but it did not change anything. “She’s their sister? Why did I not know there was another sister?” It was going to be something that Shayne would definitely be asking Vidette as soon as this conversation was over. She had lowered her head trying to figure out how this girl had made her way into ruining her life. Yet the fact still remained the same; her heart was completely shattered. She met his eyes and completely crumbled, the emotion that was in her eyes was enough to know that this was over. “I love you, I do....but I can’t....I can’t do this Jem.” She wanted to fall off the face of the earth for breaking not only herself but him. She could see how much it hurt him, but she couldn’t. She kissed him one last time before whispering to him “I’m sorry. I never wanted to hurt you.” Shayne knew that this was nothing to do with him, but to deal with her own insecurities. She had ruined the only good thing in her life and she stood there glued just wanting it to be over.

“I don’t know what to believe, that is the problem!” This angered Jem more than he was willing to let on. Trust was his biggest thing, and here she was saying completely outright that she didn’t believe or trust him. That was willing to believe what others said over what he was telling her. It hurt him to his very core, and it took everything the man had in him to keep it under control. “You’re supposed to believe me!” His voice was raised slightly as he said it, but he didn’t yell. Yelling would attract attention and the last thing he wanted to happen was for this to turn into a situation like the wedding. “You’re supposed to know that I would never do something like that to you! How many times do I have to prove to you that I’m not Kaler?” It was a constant battle with her, but no matter how many times he put it out there she never seemed to take it to heart. Well now he supposed he didn’t have to fight her on it any more. “She’s their sister? Why did I not know there was another sister?” That wasn’t a question he could answer. That was something she was going to have to find out for herself. He chose to not say anything on that, knowing that anything he had to say would be mean and hurtful, and though Shayne fully deserved it for what she was doing here, he wouldn’t do that. “I love you, I do....but I can’t....I can’t do this Jem.” He stiffened, having expected it, but still not liking that it had been said. She went to kiss him, but he turned away from her, not allowing it to happen. “I’m sorry. I never wanted to hurt you.” Now it was Jem’s turn to not believe what was being said. He turned back to her, his eyes colder than he could ever remember them being. “Yeah, well you did.” The words were sharp and pointed, and the last thing he said to her. With a final narrowed look he turned away from her, intent on leaving. He didn’t want to be around any of these people anymore. He wasn’t in the mood for a party and he honestly didn’t trust himself. His sister wasn’t the only reckless one in the family. He would send his happy birthday’s to Vidette and Stella later, when he was over this and doing better. He didn’t want to ruin their birthday for them. They hadn’t done anything wrong. He made his way towards the exit, never once glancing over his shoulder.
