She was after something, rather someone, and no one would need to know. She had come back for a certain someone who long ago had managed to work his way into her life. Someone that bothered her to know that he had done God only knows what with her sister, a sister that had known the whole time that she liked him, and yet Vidette had gone after James Hale anyways. It was the cause of the whole feud between the two sisters, and it also caused the reasoning for her to want to ruin her sister’s life. There had been a million different reasons that the feud had continued but Evie never got over the fact that her sister would do that to her. Evelyn knew that James and herself had always had some kind of spark, and after their conversation over messenger she was a bit disturbed. There was no way that he loved a girl only after a couple of months, and there was no way that he had given up hope on them. Yes, he may have dated Vidette, but there were always the stolen glances between them. Evie’s life had been turned upside down along the way of her hiatus. No one knew the true reasons that her life was so royally fucked up, not even her baby sister Stella. No one knew that she had such a dark twisted past, or why she was running around for the past how many years.
Seattle had changed the girl, and then that move she hoped that moving away from the place that it happened would have changed it. That was why she had moved to Houston, but that had not changed what happened with her. She just seemed lost and insecure, two words that were rarely used to describe the middle sister. She often times did feel lost, especially her love life. It had never seemed to work, but she had been bailed out of jail and gone to somewhere in North Carolina before finally deciding to go back home. Going back where she had started and maybe starting over. Well, that is until she found out that her sister was still there. Ruining Vidette always managed to put a smile on her face, and if she took her best friend down with her then it was going to be well worth it. She had never stopped loving James Hale, and that was never going to stop. So maybe he was the main reason for coming back. Something that she would tell him, because she missed him. They hardly spoke whenever she had been away, and that was why she was going out to dinner with him. They had a lot to catch up on since she had been gone for over four years. She was not one to really catch up, though she wanted to spend some time with Jem and see if their spark was still there. She had put on a tan dress and let her dark hair fall in it’s natural waves. Surprisingly she was nervous for this, and that was a feeling that she did not welcome in her life. Evie was the confidant one that never let anything bother her, but this was almost like a date. It was as close to a date that she had gotten with Jem in her life, and she was not going to waste the opportunity.
She walked into the restaurant and scanned the room. Jem was already sitting down whenever she motioned to the hostess that she could see her party. She walked up to him, trying to make as little noise as possible. She was able to make it to him without him realizing that she was there and she bent down to his ear and whispered lightly. “Miss me?” she spoke seductively and when he looked up at her she smirked at him the usual Evie is up to something smile. It was nothing that he would not have been used to, but she had missed him. He was the reason she was there, and hopefully he still felt those feelings that she had for him.

James Hale was rather content when it came to his personal life, though he was almost always content when it came to such things. He wasn’t usually one to be dissatisfied with whatever it was that he was involved in, so this was really no exception. Shayne Brennan was all he could have hoped for and more. Sure he had been in love before and had ideas that it was that relationship that was going to work, but there was something different about Shayne, and it was a very good something. He felt completely at ease when he was with her, like nothing could touch him or what they had. They were a simple couple, not really requiring more than the pleasure of each other’s company. But since when was that ever a bad thing? Evelyn, his old friend, didn’t seem to believe Jem was as crazy about his girlfriend as he said he was, but then what did she really know when she hadn’t been back in Arietta for all that long? It wasn’t like Jem was some love struck teenage girl who didn’t actually understand what it was she was feeling. He was a grown man that had been in love before. He knew the feeling. Time didn’t change that. Whether it was two months or two years, his answer would still be the same no matter how many people told him that it wasn’t. Still, he and Evie had history. They had grown up together and he had even dated her sister before. There had been a time when he had even had feelings for the middle Garland sister, but nothing had ever come of them and they had passed. He hadn’t seen in her in such a long time, and had she not had two sisters that he was very well acquainted with, Jem would probably even forget what she had looked like.
They made plans to meet and catch up, and Jem didn’t refuse. It was have been nearly impossible to refuse Evelyn anyway, so why put up the fight? Not that that was what this was. He was excited to see her, really? But Jem also knew that wherever Evelyn was there was trouble, and he doubted this little visit of hers was any exception. Jem got ready that night, then drove to the restaurant where Ev had told him to meet her. He’d been here many times before, so after scanning the room and seeing that Evelyn wasn’t there, he grabbed them a table and sat down, ordering himself a drink and then scanning the menu while he waited. The waitress was a young girl, high school or collaged age with dark hair. Her name tag read Ashton, and he chatted with her a little before she ran off to wait on another table. He only did this because he had never seen the girl before in his life, which was rather rare in a small town like Arietta. Jem had honestly been under the impression that he knew everyone here. He didn’t get long to think on that, though, because he soon felt a warm breath on his neck. “Miss me?” Immediately Jem knew that it was Evelyn and he couldn’t help but smile, turning to face her and seeing an expression that made his thoughts of trouble seem even more likely. “Always.” He stood and hugged her, then pulled her chair out for her like the gentleman he was. He retook his seat, setting the menu aside and looking over at her. “Well, you got me here. Let the catching up proceed.”

this post is tagged for james alexander hale. it is dunzo and has six hundred and forty six words. the one and only pink contributed to this inspiration from the song who knew . she is looking sick and sexified wearing that dress up there. this template was created by the amazing amber you steal it and there will be an angry baby who will eat your brains no joke. additional notes oh jevie ______________________ Evelyn was the kind of girl that did not believe in love, and she had absolutely no reason to believe in it. Why would she believe in something that did not exist? Everything in her life had proven that, and she could effectually say that the there were two people in her twenty-two years of life that she loved: her little sister Stella and the man that she was going to meet for dinner. Those two people had been the only people that made any kind of impression in her life, and James was someone that would never go away. She had run from this town to get away from her family and more importantly from having to watch Jem live his life with other women. They both knew that there was the spark between them, but neither of them had admitted them. It had broken her time and time again as she would be al kinds of giggly with him and anyone would have known that she was head over heels in love with him. So whoever this girl thought she was standing in the way, Stella said her name was Shayne, had another thing coming. Evie was not about to give up on them this time around; she was going to stay and fight and cause trouble. It was who she was and it was in her blood. No one quite understood how she worked into the Garland family, after all the other sisters were nice and the polar opposites of the middle sister. She was going to find out and change his mind. Evie was not about to let him fall in love with someone, settle down, and miss her chance again.
Whenever Evie wanted something, it was impossible to refuse. A lesson that had been learned by James Hale way back in the day. So she had not expected him to refuse her invitation to dinner. She wanted to find out a lot about him, mostly to see how serious he was about this Shayne girl. It could not have been that serious if it was only a couple of months. She was also known for turning this town on it’s head, and she was going to do so. Her great reappearance was being saved for the triplet’s birthday fiasco, especially since she had found out that no one would really remember her. It was sore that had set a whole new level of hate for her eldest sister. The only people that remembered that the Garland’s were triplets would be the ones that grew up in the town before she took off over four years ago. That was when Evie made her appearance. She whispered in his ear and then smiled mischievously. Her grin was obvious that she was up to no good, but seeing the smile on his face made it all worth while. James was one of those people that would never get out of her head, and that was something that she adored. He grabbed her in a hug, and she smelled him. She took in everything about him, remembering everything and letting him completely corrupt her head. That was when he pulled out her seat, and sat across from her. Evelyn could not help but smile, and this time it was a genuine smile. She knew that he would have come, there was no way he wouldn’t have. “Did you really think that you wouldn’t have come Jem? You know you missed me more than you let on.” She smirked at him and ordered a water off of the waitress whenever she made her return to the table, before turning her attention back to James. “So handsome, what is new in this town? Seems like nothing has changed at all, well except for my return.” she let out a light giggle and pulled her fingers to her lips. She had no idea how he was able to do this to her, but he did. Each and every time.

“Did you really think that you wouldn’t have come Jem? You know you missed me more than you let on.” Jem just smiled that charming smile of his over at her, shaking his head at her. “Now I never said I wouldn’t have come.” No one could refuse Evie, even if they wanted to. She was pretty hard to resist, and that wasn’t just Jem’s opinion either. So Jem had agreed to go out to dinner with her and here they were. Jem was a gentleman, as always. That was just who he was and who he would always be. His own father hadn’t always been the best example, and though he wasn’t a big part of Jem and Britt’s lives anymore, Jem had learned some things from him. First and foremost how not to treat people. He was told on a regular basis by his grandparents that he was not his father’s son, which was something he enjoyed hearing. He had never wanted to be like the man. How it had happened was beyond him, though it probably had a lot to do with the fact that his grandmother and grandfather had pretty much raised him. His mother hadn’t been the best influence on his or his sister’s life either, but they had thankfully had a solid influence in their grandparents. So Jem happened to just be a little old fashioned in his mind set. Certainly not completely, but in many ways, yes. And that also went to treating women right. Jem was hardly ever mean when it came to them, though he had a rather easy going personality anyway. He was just a good guy, which kind of made the fact that he was sitting here with Evelyn Garland ironic.
When Ashton returned to the table with his drink, Evelyn ordered hers and Ash ran off to grab it. And then Ev’s attention was back on him. “So handsome, what is new in this town? Seems like nothing has changed at all, well except for my return.” Jem laughed. “Oh, come on, Evie. Lack of change isn’t such a bad thing.” Course that was coming from small town boy Jem, who saw nothing wrong with their little town and what went on in it. He enjoyed everything Arietta had to offer, and he really had no wish to ever leave it. He was perfectly happy and content here. “But, as you know, I tend to ignore the gossip train around here, so I don’t know much about others.” He smiled. “Little sis hasn’t been having such a great year. More like a year and a half. We lost our little brother and she won’t stop blaming herself. And it doesn’t help now that Kade is back. She’s had more than one public outburst with him.” It was bad when the only news you had to share was on your little sister’s dramatic personal life, but Jem wasn’t one to keep up with everyone else’s business. “But what’s been up with you? I’m sure your stories are much more interesting than mine.” There was no doubt about that. She was an exciting girl, and he was quite sure that she had some interesting things to tell. Before she could answer, though, Ash was back with Evelyn’s drink. She took their order, then ran off again, Jem once again turning his attention back to Evie and waiting for her answer his question from before.

So it was not hard to get James to agree to a dinner date with her. Seeing his smile always brightened her day, and she could not help but laugh at him whenever he spoke. “You couldn’t have not come even if you wanted to.” It was the truth; she knew it and so did he. She was a hard one to resist, and no one in this town had yet to show her otherwise. If she wanted something and wanted it bad enough she would always, always get it. Jem was the only person that seemed to matter in the brunette’s life, because he was the only person that managed to make an impression for her. He was kind and old fashioned. Qualities that she adored and loved to see; these were the reasons that she had fallen for him all those many years ago. No one could fight that fact, even if they wanted too. James Hale and Evelyn Garland had that natural draw to each other, something that even though they had both felt it how long ago had never been acted on. She was back and the only reason that she had for anyone if they asked was because she felt like it. Deep down she knew the real reason why she was back, and that was for a certain man that happened to be sitting right in front of her. Jem was a good guy, the total opposite of who Evie was. She was sadistic and vengeful; while he was sweet and kind. He balanced her out, and that was something that she knew that she needed more than anything. He was someone worth fighting for, and this time around she was not going to anywhere without a fight for the man she loved.
Her attention was hard to pry away from Jem, even when she was ordering her drink. She asked her question, and raised her eyebrow at him. He was a small town man and appreciated that fact about him. he was able to laugh at her and appreciate that she was someone that changed frequently. That was why she had gone away for over four years. “I guess it isn’t. Only if my lack of change involves hanging around someone like you.” She smirked at him, she was able to hint at what she wanted, and Evie knew that Jem would pick it up. Her water came, and they ordered their meals. The waitress was efficient and on top of her game. Someone that Evie would have to request if she ever stepped foot in the restaurant again. Arietta was not so bad, it was the reason she had come back...besides Jem of course. The town was not awful and she knew that he was not going to leave it anytime soon. Her dark eyes were glued to him as he spoke about what was going on around the town. She knew that he would only know what was going on with him and his little group of friends. But she had been a bit surprised to hear about Britt. She listened and nodded before speaking up. “Oh I am aware of you not listening to the rumor mill. But I am sure you have things to share about your friends...our friends.” She returned his smile, and listened to the next bit. Evie had never been informed of what happened to the youngest Hale, and she was completely speechless. “Jem, I had no idea about little brother. I am sorry, I would have come back if I knew.” It was the honest truth, and James would have been the only person she would have come back for. She should not have been surprised about Kade and Britt after talking to Kade and him being the first person she saw when she got back to town. It happened, but Jem would not need to hear about her little fling with Kade. It just kind of happened; besides it wasn’t like Jem was technically available. Though she was going to change that, she just had to se things in motion for herself. She smirked as he asked about her exploits, and that was when her water arrived at the table. She ordered her food before locking her dark brown eyes on his green ones. Her fingers were still in front of her lips when she moved them to speak. “Well you know me. I get myself in trouble, Stella bails me out of jail. Same old Evie, different city every couple of months. I just went where ever I wanted. I was in Seattle for a while, Tucson, Wilmington, New York City. I just went everywhere, but there was a reason to come home. It had always been there, but I thought he gave up on me.” She lowered her eyes slightly before bringing them back. He was the reason to come home, and she was going to get him. “what about this girl of yours? Shayne, right?” she needed to change the subject and quick before he put all of the pieces together, but asking about Shayne was her way of getting information to go ahead with her plan.

“I guess it isn’t. Only if my lack of change involves hanging around someone like you.” Jem just smiled and laughed easily. He doubted even he could make Evelyn enjoy staying in a town where very little exciting things happened. She was a bit untamable, and he doubted that would ever really change. That was just how she was. It was an endearing trait, he had to admit, and something that had always drawn him to her. There was something about people who went against the grain and made their own rules. They tended to attract people, even good guys like him. One thing he could definitely say, nothing was ever boring with her around. That could be a good and a bad thing, as sometimes not boring meant trouble or something highly illegal. Jem preferred to stay away from things as fun as that. He enjoyed being on the right side of the law, mostly because it was him who tended to have to bail everyone OUT of jail. He had received entirely too many late night calls to come get some people. “Oh I am aware of you not listening to the rumor mill. But I am sure you have things to share about your friends...our friends.” There were several interesting things about his friends, though nothing really was striking his mind too much at the moment other than his sister. But there was one other thing… “Well other than my own family troubles, Kaler did find out he has a half-sister. It was quite shocking. Especially since she’s nothing like them. To look at them you’d never really think it.” It had been quite shocking, but everyone close to Kaler had taken to Peyton rather nicely and she was fitting in well. She had Amy Orsino and Zoey Williams to pal around with, and that made a good deal of difference.
“Jem, I had no idea about little brother. I am sorry, I would have come back if I knew.” He smiled at her. Parker wasn’t something Jem liked to talk about a lot. It had been awful when he had lost his little brother, and he had almost lost his little sister as well. He had, though, lost his nephew, which had also been a sad day. The baby hadn’t been planned and it had been abandoned by one parent, but it had never been unwanted by the Hale family. It had been tragic, and what was even worse was that was the moment that his sister fell apart completely. He didn’t even recognize her after that. She was so broken, and Jem, or anybody really, knew how to fix her. “Well you know me. I get myself in trouble, Stella bails me out of jail. Same old Evie, different city every couple of months. I just went where ever I wanted. I was in Seattle for a while, Tucson, Wilmington, New York City. I just went everywhere, but there was a reason to come home. It had always been there, but I thought he gave up on me.” Jem frowned, unsure what to make of all that. He honestly didn’t know how to respond, or even what to think. However, luckily, she moved onward, though he wasn’t completely sure he liked the direction this was going. “What about this girl of yours? Shayne, right?” Jem took a drink and sat it down. “Yes, Shayne. What about her?” He didn’t know where this was going, or if he would like it when they got there, but he went along with it. For some reason Jem felt like he was going to seriously have to defend his relationship tonight, something he had not, as of yet, had to do.

She went against the grain, and it was hard for most people to get away from. Ever since she could remember Jem had always thought it was one of the best things about her. Evie just did whatever popped into her head, one of the major reasons that she initially left. She had felt the need to get out of Arietta and to do something different than what everyone else her age was doing. She was going to make her life different than what her sisters had done. Something that Evie had always known was that if she needed James, he would have been there for her. In high school he had bailed her out once and saved her from the tragedy that was known as her parents. Evie was only ever in jail really for fighting or drinking too much, so it wasn’t like she was running off with cars and all that shit. She just hated when people got in her face, and all of that. Her big doe eyes could not help but stay locked on the gorgeous green ones that had always captivated her. Jem was never one to keep up on all of the dramatics that the town had to offer, but then again whenever Evelyn had been here she was the one stirring up drama. Now that she was back there should be no surprise that it was going to happen in order to get what she wanted. What she wanted more than anything was to claim her companion as her own. She had always loved him, and that was not going to go away no matter how many thousands of miles she had put between them.
She listened to him describe all the dramatics that he knew about, she listened as he spoke about her sister’s new boyfriend. That was also another step that she was going to have to take. Evie was going to do her damnedest to break up the happiness that was known as Vidette Garland, just because she could. So she listened to what Jem said about Kaler and his family and looked at him somewhat amused. “Well isn’t that shocking. Big sis’s boyfriend has the family controversy around this town. I should really meet this guy. Seems like we would get along smashing, wonder what he sees in big sis. Because I never got it. Even with you, never quite understood it.” She had not the slightest idea what either of these people looked like, but this little bit of information made things a little easier to start concocting a plan to end her sister. That was until Jem told her that he had lost his little brother. Parker was important to both him and his sister, and if she had known she would have been in Arietta to help him. Things were bound to be difficult, especially after she had found out that Kade had taken off. It really didn’t surprise her, but it was not like him to bail on Britt. She had not known the whole story, but it was not her place to poke questions at. Evie felt bad for Britt though; it had to be difficult on her, and if she was anything like herself she would have sunk into a hole. Something that the brunette knew all too well.
Evie could not believe the word vomit that had just sprung from her lips. She was admitting to wanting to be with him, and sure it was subtle. Hell this was Evie, she knew that she wanted Jem. He was her reason coming home; yes, she had been everywhere that she could think of, but no man could make an impression on her like James Hale did. No one had even dented into her heart, and anyone that came along the way was just a side thing to occupy her until she stopped running from everything. She could not let him answer or respond in anyway to what she had said so she moved on. The topic that had really brought this on today, and that was the little arm candy that he was waving around the town. Evie had asked about his girl, and as she finished her question she picked up the glass of water and sipped on it. The brunette needed a gauge to see how serious he really was about her. Evie was known for pushing boundaries and seeing how far she could go, and she was going to push them and push them hard. She did not think that Jem was really happy, maybe he did but that was something she was not going to give up on. “How long have you been with her? I know you said a couple months, but how long have you had the title boyfriend? You know me, I want to know all the dirty secrets you have to tell about her.” So she wanted to know the dirty secrets to tear her down. Find out what made her insecure and strike, because she was going to get Jem if it was the last thing she did. Evie uncrossed her legs, and when she went to recross them she let her foot rub up against his leg seductively. The brunette was working on making her point known, and she knew that Jem would pick up on what she wanted.

Parker Hale had been one pretty awesome kid. He had been the youngest child in the family of three, and Jem and Britt had loved him to death. The siblings had never been ones to fight and hate each other. They had always, always been close. Parker was the crazy one in the family, more so than any of them, but that had been what made people love him. He had been one of Amy and Zoey’s partners in crime when they were little, always having been a mischief maker himself and enjoying the thrill of pranking people. He had also had a love for making videos. For his fourteenth birthday their grandparents had given him a video camera, and after that he had videotaped everything. No one had ever seen Parker without a camera in his hand. He had been an amazing little brother, and there wasn’t a day that went by that Jem didn’t miss him. He knew the same was for his sister. It was tragic that such a great life was ended so early. Jem had no doubt that his little brother would have done amazing things when he got older. He had only been sixteen when he died. Everything was cut short because of an icy road. It was insane how easily something like that could happen. Jem knew that Britt blamed herself for his death. She was the one driving and it was because of her that he had died. No amount of telling her that it wasn’t, that it could have happened to anyone, seemed to be able to change that. She was convinced and set in her ways, and stubbornness just happened to be a trait that ran very fully within’ their family.
It had been a year since Parker’s death, but Jem still couldn’t talk about it. Not to Mykayla or Shayne or even Evelyn. He and Britt never talked about it either. Not really. Whenever Parker was mentioned their entire family just shut down. No one wanted to be reminded that he was no longer around. So Jem tried not to think about Parker too much. It would only depress him and make him feel lousy and that was not something he wanted in the least. “Well isn’t that shocking. Big sis’s boyfriend has the family controversy around this town. I should really meet this guy. Seems like we would get along smashing, wonder what he sees in big sis. Because I never got it. Even with you, never quite understood it.” Jem shook his head. “Your sister is a wonderful person and I happened to like her. Sometimes there is just no explanation for those kinds of things.” That was really all he could say on the matter. It wasn’t like he woken up one day and decided he was going to be with Vidette. It had just happened. And they had ended, as most relationships do. He was still a very good friend to her and he was perfectly fine with that. “How long have you been with her? I know you said a couple months, but how long have you had the title boyfriend? You know me, I want to know all the dirty secrets you have to tell about her.” Jem could see where this was going already. He moved his leg when he felt her foot rub against it and he was fairly sure that it wasn’t an accident. “It has been a couple of months, like I said, Ev.” He offered a smile, but it took some effort. “And if you ask me, you are just a little too curious about Shayne.” He would expect a little curiosity, but this? This he wasn’t so sure about.

this post is tagged for james alexander hale. it is dunzo and has eight hundred and sixty two words. the one and only pink contributed to this inspiration from the song who knew . she is looking sick and sexified wearing that dress up there. this template was created by the amazing amber you steal it and there will be an angry baby who will eat your brains no joke. additional notes oh jevie ______________________ Evelyn was not that heartless to not know that talking about the littlest Hale was not hard for the man sitting across for him. If it had been Evie in that kind of circumstance she would have been lost much like Brittany Hale had. Hell that is exactly what had happened to her whenever she had moved from Seattle, Washington to Houston, Texas. The brunette had not told anyone about why she was a mess. The girl was resentful to what had happened to her, and normally she was not against one night stands. This one had been one that she did not want, and that was what she thought about. The two of them were quite a pair, and this was why she was so broken. Most people thought it was for other reasons but this was the real reason that she had shut out the humanity that most people could not. She had shut down after being raped by some random guy in the bathroom of some club in Seattle, and she had moved to Houston. She had spent the months trying to hide everything, but she had to give that baby up. There was no way that she would have been able to raise the beautiful girl that she had given birth to. So she ran, Houston had not been a trouble city for her; however, it was the city that had completely hardened the girl that sat in front of Jem. Sitting with him was the closest she had felt to an emotion than she had in a very long time, and that kind of scared her. Evie had never given up on the love she had for him, but that was who she was. When she wanted something in her life she was going to fight like hell to keep it.
It was easy talking to Jem, but sometimes she could not stop the word vomit that flew from her lips. She really had no idea why he had liked Vidette, but she could say one thing. She was absolutely nothing like her big sister, which most people either loved or hated about her. She went against everything that everyone considered normal, but that was who the brunette was. Evie had a wild streak, did whatever popped in her head, and figured it was better to ask for forgiveness, if she felt like it, rather than permission. She watched as he shook his head at her, but couldn’t help but smirk. She knew that big sis was a “good person” but that was what irked her. Everyone only saw her as a good person instead of someone that could care less about her middle sister. Stella had made it clear that Vidette did not want anyone knowing about the hurricane that was Evie. She was still spiteful about that, but that would handled at a later date. “Yeah, well I still don’t understand it. I don’t think I will ever understand why you think Vidette is so great. Maybe it’s the fact that she is just so very very different from yours truly.” Evie knew that their relationship had not gone on long, that was not the point. She was still that her sister would be a backstabbing bitch, and that was when she was going to make her regret crossing her. It was what she had wanted, and she had ways of making Vidette aware that Evie meant business. That was something for a different day, their birthday party actually.
That was whenever she changed the topic to his girlfriend. So she had alterior motives to finding out everything that was going on with Jem and his girlfriend. She was going to get what she wanted, and she had a feeling that the only thing she was going to need was for someone to see them out. Most girls got jealous and insecure just from hearing that their man was with someone else. She felt his leg move from hers and she raised an eyebrow. So he was going to play hard to get. She let her words show the shock that she was good at pretending, “Now Jem, why would you say that? I just want to know what is going on in your life. Besides this girl probably isn’t even worth your time, but who am I to judge.” Evie really just wanted to tell him that she wanted him and that she always had, but this was hard for her. Jem was the only person that could have ever made her come back to this town and settle down. He was the one person that meant anything to her, and that was sad. “So how much did you miss me? Four years is a long time to go without seeing me. I feel that it has been to long to go without seeing your face. Maybe I will have to make a permanent relocation, I think this town has missed me. Nothing ever happens whenever I’m away.” She said with a smirk on her lips and sipped on her water again.

“Yeah, well I still don’t understand it. I don’t think I will ever understand why you think Vidette is so great. Maybe it’s the fact that she is just so very very different from yours truly.” Jem didn’t comment. There was no point in arguing with the girl and nothing he could say would get a positive response. That was a sibling rivalry sort of thing, and those were never safe to get involved in. Jem was grateful that his family was all pretty close and none of them had ever been the type to want to cause harm to the others. He and Britt were no longer as close as they had once been, but she still talked to him, and he was still as protective over her as ever. Jem knew that Britt could handle herself, though, and he often let her do things on her own. It was how she preferred it anyway. He couldn’t imagine ever hating her, though. That thought would never, ever cross his mind. “Now Jem, why would you say that? I just want to know what is going on in your life. Besides this girl probably isn’t even worth your time, but who am I to judge.” It was rather irritating that she made judgments about someone that she didn’t even know. Saying that Shayne was Vidette’s best friend wouldn’t have helped his case either, though when she discovered that piece of news it wasn’t likely to improve her opinion any. Not that Jem really cared what she thought of his girlfriend. Jem wasn’t the type to take into consideration what others thought. If he did he probably would have done a lot of things differently over the years and made several different choices. It didn’t matter to him if people disapproved of him and Shayne. He loved the girl, and that was all that really mattered.
“So how much did you miss me? Four years is a long time to go without seeing me. I feel that it has been to long to go without seeing your face. Maybe I will have to make a permanent relocation, I think this town has missed me. Nothing ever happens whenever I’m away.” He offered a smile. “Well whose fault is that, huh? You could have called.” But of course she hadn’t. She had just disappeared, and many people were pretty certain that she would never come back. But of course it would be like Evelyn to do something that would surprise everyone. It was what she was exceptionally good at. “And you are a pretty interesting person, so I’m sure you’re bound to cause some trouble around this place.” He took a drink and it was in that moment that their waitress returned with their food. She sat the food on the table and asked them if there was anything else that they needed. When they said no she offered them a smile and went to go wait on another person that motioned her to their table. “Well she’s certainly on top of things,” Jem commented. She was probably one of the most prompt that he had ever had in this town, but he didn’t recognize her, which was odd. He was thinking that she was going to get a nice tip, though, as she had been pretty good when it came to getting them everything. He was very pleased with her.

this post is tagged for james alexander hale. it is dunzo and has seven hundred and four words. the one and only pink contributed to this inspiration from the song who knew . she is looking sick and sexified wearing that dress up there. this template was created by the amazing amber you steal it and there will be an angry baby who will eat your brains no joke. additional notes oh jevie ______________________ Alright, obviously her attempt at finding out what she really wanted to know was failing miserably. It was kind of funny to see how he dodged questions. Anything that the brunette asked about his girlfriend was fielded and forgotten. It was not like it was a huge deal. Evie would find out everything out with or without his help, it would just be easier. But Evie was going to get what she wanted no matter what he said or did. So maybe she was a bit callous about her opinions, but that was what they were. Evelyn could have whatever opinion about anyone that she felt the need. She had enough on her plate without letting him know that, and personally she never thought any girl was worthy of James Hale, though the youngest Trent had been okay. She was too sweet for her own good, and that was something she had heard about. She just never expected it to last, much like she knew that things would not have lasted between him and her sister. Evie knew how Jem’s new girlfriend fit into the dynamics of her being in town. She had plans in the work for everyone, and they had no idea what was going to happen. She was going to break up Vidette and Kaler if she had anything to do with it, because honestly pay back was a bitch and she was good at it. The fact that her sister had insisted that it be a masquerade ball had fit into everything. It was going to be a glorious mess that no one would ever forget. She was going to make sure that big sis, boyfriend, and best friend would have one hell of a night. A devious little smile tugged at her lips as she looked at him while she was thinking.
Talking to Jem was like breathing, it was simple. She was able to tease him and things were just fun. It was much different than anything that she was used too. He teased her about not calling, and she just laughed. “That works two ways Mr. Hale. You have a telephone with my number too. It never changes.” She smiled brightly at him because that was the same phone number she had had since in high school. The brunette could not help but keep her eyes on him, admiring how much he had grown up and just became a man that she wanted. A lot had changed in four years, but that was something she kind of was glad that happened. Evie teased that nothing had changed but so much had happened behind the scenes. Moving back home would not be a terrible thing, especially if it was going to give her an opportunity to spend some major quality with the man that captivated her. She ate her food and chatted with one of her only friends. There were few people that actually knew about her, as far as Stella had told her. Apparently big sister was keeping Evie as the family’s dirty little secret. She had not planned on coming back to this town ever, but she was going to make her entrance to this town one to be remembered. She watched as Jem paid for their bill with the cute punctual waitress, and she left the tip for the poor girl. Wouldn’t want someone to get the wrong impression that they were on a date, but if they did well Shayne could start worrying her little head just like Evie wanted too. “Thank you for doing this with me. I missed you, I really did Jem. Believe me if you want to, but I did. You were the one person that I thought about while I was away.” Which was not a lie, and she had walked out beside him. She smiled at him as she stood on her tip toes to reach his cheek and kissed him, just on the cheek. She wasn’t that sleazy. “I’ll be seeing you. And make sure you are at the birthday party. You aren’t going to want to miss the dirty little secret’s return to town.”
