Moving was never something that a girl liked to do, but in this case the brunette needed to get the hell away. She needed to be somewhere that she was going to be safe, somewhere that was not going to end up with her getting her face beat every day. It was so hard for her to go to school day in and day out with teachers knowing what was happening at home, and still doing nothing. Miranda James was that girl, who happened to get beat every night, and that was what made moving easy. Her mother had shipped her up to Arietta to live with her grandmother, and it was nice to not have to worry about coming home to her drunken father and all of the shit that he put the fourteen year old through. That is what had come of her life before moving in with Grams, and ever since she moved in things had gotten better. The bruise that was under her eye was almost gone, and so were the bruises where Nate liked to touch her as they walked down the halls together. She had been in Arietta for almost two weeks, and somehow she already had some boys swooning for her. The first to make an appearance in her life was a senior by the name of Jared Trent. The boy had made her feel welcome and it was nice to finally get some attention. She was still banged up whenever the boys had wanted to get to know her, but the second was the one that managed to actually snag her. Not that Jared Trent was not on her radar, but what senior wanted to date a freshman. Her now boyfriend was Nathaniel Jacobson, a sophomore that had scooped her up off her broken feet.
Nate was a total sweetheart, and he looked after her walking her to class and stealing a few kisses here and there throughout the day. It was really cute, and never had the brunette had a boyfriend before him. It was something she had seen on the television, but never experienced for herself because who wanted to get involved with the girl who had the dark home life. Now she was able to be her happy self that was always doing something stupid. Like right now, she was waiting for one of her many followers to find her in the courtyard. She had lunch, and she knew that both Jared and Nate would be dying to get her attention, but Nate would be there sitting next to her holding her hand, and Jared would be his silly self that she could see herself falling for. She just had to keep telling herself that there was no sense in getting attached to the blonde boy who was going to just graduate. She could fall for him any other day, but now she had a great guy who had walked right into her life. It was something she was thankful for because of all the people to enter it, either of those boys would make sure nothing happened to her. That was when the tray was sat down beside her, and she looked up to see her boyfriend smiling down at her. She kissed him quickly and smiled, “There you are Nate. It took you long enough to get here. How are your classes going?”
She scooted herself closer to him,and was just happy to have his protective arm wrap around her. Randi felt safe, and that was a feeling she was not willing to lose.[/blockquote] _____________________ tagged for : nate // kate && jared // mercy

Nathaniel walked down the long hallway, high fiving a friend of his as he maintained balance of his basketball in the other hand. At this school, he was already a basketball star -- and he was only in his sophomore year. He would much rather be known for that, however, than as the kid whose dad got sent to prison for beating up his mother. The town wasn't too huge, and women talked; especially the woman who lived next door who reported the noise. He would forever be in debt to her for it, but the woman was a complete busy body. He entered the cafeteria, and heard a small voice tell him that he could line up in front of him. Nathaniel raised his eyebrow, but did just that. You see, Nathaniel really was a nice guy. However, being a star basketball player meant he got attention. People assumed they needed to get out of his way, or do anything they could to make him happy. Nate really didn't mind waiting at the back of the line, though.
After getting his lunch, he walked with his tray to the courtyard and immediately grinned upon spotting his girlfriend. Placing the tray next to her, he smiled and kissed her gently as she turned up to face him. He pulled his athletic bag off his shoulder and placed it on the seat next to him as he sat. "Math sucks." He told her simply, laughing as he did. "How about yours?" He asked, leaning in to give her another kiss before he proceeded to eat the fries on his tray. He was a star of the basketball team with one of the prettiest girl at school as his girlfriend. His life was pretty perfect now that his father was out of his life. His only problem was that his mother had to work two jobs to provide for the two of them.

Randi had only been in the school for two weeks, and she had already picked up the basketball star of the school. Nathaniel was always such a sweetheart, and he never asked questions whenever she snuck her body away from him. There were still very tender places on her body that she would not even touch. Miranda James had dealt with the abuse that had come with her life, and that was just who she was. It was hard for her to realize what was going on or why she felt the way that she did with Nathaniel, but she did. She enjoyed spending time with him, and thankfully she had been asked to join the cheerleading squad. It gave her something to do, and right then she was sporting that beautiful new uniform. It was something she had never had in Philadelphia, because her parents never wanted her to do anything. Her sperm donor that was called her father was dead set on making sure that she was home every day to make sure that he could beat her senseless. But that was a separate lifetime ago, one that did not include being kissed by a magnificent boy that was possibly getting attached to her. Something that the brunette could get used too.
Her head was turned to him, and she graciously accepted every kiss that he had to offer her. She watched as he sat down and got himself situated. It was cute having lunch with someone that actually wanted her around. He always complained about math every day during lunch; it was cute for her to think about that. Every day she had something to look forward to, something totally stable in her life, was Nate saying how much he hates math. She caught his lips again and smiled brightly as he was starting to eat the french fries. It was so cute though as he shoveled the fries into his mouth, because it was so funny that he liked french fries and this brunette was eating the onion rings from her own tray. “Well, I got my uniform in case you didn’t notice. Which means that I am going to be sporting you number on my cheek this week at the game. Other than actually feeling like I belong at this new place, my day has been pretty good. Glad that I finally get to see you.”
She smiled and stared into his eyes and was thankful that for once she belonged somewhere. “So besides math, my little basketball star, what is going on? You still taking me to dinner this weeK, or no?” She gently kissed his cheek as he was still eating. Their lunches were so dorky, but that was when she noticed a set of eyes still on her. A pair of eyes she knew all to well, but she was not going to get attached to Jared Trent. Not other than a friend way, but she liked both of them. But she was focused on Nate, and the eyes could just wait.[/blockquote] _____________________ tagged for : nate // kate && jared // mercy

There was nothing like the senior year of high school. Jared Trent had been gearing up for this year since he was a freshman, and it had all been worth it. He was an athlete, and had played football for Arietta High School all four years. This year, the team had nearly gotten to go to state, but had been beaten out by a damned field goal attempt in the last three seconds by their opponents. It had sucked, and Jared had cussed and ranted and raved for all of two minutes, but then it was over. It had been one hell of a season, and while the two previous years his team had gone to state and won, this one had been nothing to sneeze at. Jared was just glad to be a part of it all, and now he was on his last semester of high school and just riding it out. He had easy classes, good friends to share it all with, and no reason at all to complain about anything in the world. Things were going good for the young man, and they had gotten even better when a new little freshman had walked through the halls and caught his eye. Her name was Miranda James, and Jared didn’t know what it was about the brunette, but he liked her. He had introduced himself on her first day there, and they had since been developing a friendship that seemed to come quickly and easily. Jared was found of Randi for sure, and he just enjoyed her company.
That day the weather was fair, and the students were allowed to take their lunches outside to the courtyard. Jared of course opted to do this, grabbing a tray with whatever the cafeteria had served him today and headed outside. His lightly colored eyes scanned all around, but Jared could find a friend at every table that he saw. Whether they were from the football team, English, history…or just kids he had known forever, Jared had friends of every clique imaginable. However, his eyes found Randi, and lingered there for a second. She was sitting with Nate, her boyfriend that she had easily snagged and a hot shot on the basketball team. Of course Jared didn’t let that stop him and he walked right over and sat down in front of the couple. “Hey kids. What’s up?” He smiled at Randi, and also cast a friendly look Nate’s way. Jared didn’t know Randi’s sophomore counterpart all that well, but that didn’t let him stop from interacting with him. Then he caught a glimpse of Randi’s tray. “Man, they had onion rings?!” He sent a displeased glare down at that French fries that were on his tray. Jared would eat anything, and he loved his fries, but onion rings sounded so much better right now. Damn it.

When Randi had moved into the area, she had taken it upon herself to find out about the people in the town. It also did not hurt that Grams was really good friends with Marion and Rob Trent. So Miranda James had heard everything about the Trent family, and how the older boys played football and taken the school to states for years. So when Jared Trent started to pay interest into her, she figured it was just a joke that his senior buddies were playing on her. That was the first week she had moved to town, but then she was really starting to get to know him. More than anything she did not want to get attached to him, because who knew what his intentions were going to be. He was the first person to make her feel welcome, well that was until Nate had walked into her life. Both men were amazing, and as much as she did not want to form any kind of attachment, she had. Randi was not about to admit it to Jared though, and it was how she worked. She smiled brightly as she chatted it up with an amazing boy that wanted to be with her. She laced her fingers with Nate as she felt the eyes bearing into her skull. As much as she adored Jared, because let’s face it who doesn’t like getting the attention from a senior, she was not going to let him fill her head with thoughts like that.
She sat there chewing on her onion rings, still feeling the eyes that were bearing into her skull. The brunette almost turned around to glare at him. Grams knew that she really felt about Jared, because that was how she was worked. Grams knew all of her deep dark secrets, especially about the fact that she could easily fall in love with a man who was three years older than her. Grams knew how she felt about the blonde boy, and then there was Nate. Nathaniel was one of the only person that showed her that she mattered. He was the reason that she was cheering, and that she had something to do whenever she was bored. He would always cheer her up, even when Jared and his childlike nature did not. She smirked whenever her thoughts were interrupted by the blonde who had invaded her thoughts started to speak. A bright smile pulled to her lips as her hazel eyes managed to connect with his; there was something there and she knew it, but she could not admit it. She spoke lightly, “Hey, just because you are older than us doesn’t make us kids! In fact, I think you are the gigantic kid sitting at our table. But I’m a cheerleader now Jared, aren’t you proud?”
she smirked, but it was hard for her to not taunt him and tease him. “Too bad I wasn’t here during football season, or maybe you guys would have made it to states.” She hoped that she had not insulted him, because she wished she could have been there cheering him on. She saw him eyeing up her onion rings, and then she pulled her tray closer to her. “Nate, don’t let him eat my onion rings! I really want them, and french fries are gross.” She looked at Nate and squeezed the hand that she was holding and pleaded him with her puppy dog eyes. She knew Nate would protect her onion rings, and that was because he was going to protect her. Nate was an amazing man, and she knew that only after two weeks. She was lucky to have him in her life, even if a certain blonde man kept creeping into it./justify][/blockquote] _____________________ tagged for : nate // kate && jared // mercy

Nathaniel grinned; he liked the idea of Randi sporting his number at the basketball game. He was also a guy, so he enjoyed the idea of her being a cheerleader too. "I'm glad that I get to see you too." He said, kissing her softly on the lips once again. He just couldn't resist. Could anyone blame him though? She may be a freshman, but he was pretty sure he didn't know a single guy at that school who didn't want Miranda James. "I was thinking we'd do something else this week." He said with a grin. Nate had actually been planning something for his girlfriend for quite some time. Sure, he could be like all the other jocks at this school; take his girl out for the same dinner every week, parade her around like she was a piece of property. That wasn't Nathaniel though, despite his superstar status. He was a nice guy, and this guy wanted to do something special for his girl. "And don't ask, because I'm not telling you. It's a surprise." When she pouted at him, he couldn't help but laugh. "Hey, don't do that." He said softly. God, when she did that, it absolutely killed him. Leaning forward, he moved past her mouth and this time whispered in her ear, "can I kiss away the pouting?" Gently kissing her earlobe, he then kissed her cheek, and then kissed her lips. The two of them were cheesy, but he didn't care. They had that whole puppy love thing going on.
He smiled with his face inches from hers, before slowly pulling away. Just in time too, as Jared Trent walked up to the two of them and sat down. "Jared," Nathaniel said, stating his name in acknowledgement, nodding his head in his direction. She then watched the interaction between the two of them, quietly eating his fries. Randi did like to ramble quite a bit, which went along quite perfectly with Nathaniel, who didn't like to talk a whole ton. "Hey, french fries are not gross." Nathaniel said to Randi, defending the food before he popped one in his mouth. Nate then laughed lightly at Randi's request for him to protect her onion rings though, watching as she sweetly gave him her best set of puppy dog eyes. Of course, he melted and then looked towards Jared. "You heard the girl." Nathaniel was pretty oblivious to the fact that Randi had an interest in Jared. He had a feeling Jared had an interest in his girl, however, because really, who didn't at this school?

It was easy enough to see that Jared Trent was the kind of guy that was friends with everyone, making him comfortable no matter where he went. That was a rare kind of attitude to have in high school, all the kids seeming so self-conscious and socially aware of where they “belonged.” Jared, well, he didn’t feel that he really belonged in any one group of students, and he bounced around from clique to clique with a lot of grace and ease just because he was that guy that everyone knew, and that everyone could find agreeable. It was the way that the young man had always been, and it was what allowed him to take his seat there at the same table as Randi and Nate and not even think twice about it. Jared meant absolutely no harm, and while he didn’t know if the sophomore boy knew that or not, he certainly knew it. He wouldn’t make a scene if Nathaniel here didn’t, and there was no reason for them all not to be friends in Jared’s eyes. They were civil to each other, Jared acknowledging the younger boy as well when he had taken his seat. This visitation to their table was innocent and friendly as far as Jared was concerned, though he did have to admit that there was just something about the brunette that made him want to always be around, want to get to know her and be even more persistent and clingy than he usually was with new students that their high school received.
He perked up, and listened as she babbled on about him possibly being nothing more than just a big kid seated at their table. Jared just grinned, picking up his carton of milk in his hand and giving it a good shake before he opened it. Then she was commenting on her cute new cheerleading outfit, and how it was too bad that she wasn’t there for their football season. “Yes ma’am, you might have just been the extra push me and the boys needed,” he said, winking at her. To be fair, the football guys had played their hearts out; they had just gotten outplayed and Jared didn’t know if any amount of pretty girls like Randi would have saved them. He couldn’t help but to laugh, though, when she pulled her tray closer to her after his comment about the onion rings versus the French fries. She was asking Nate to protect her food, and just as Jared would have been, Nate was putty in her hands. “You heard the girl.” Jared narrowed his eyes. “Bring it,” was all he said, keeping a straight face for a moment and fully prepared to duke it out over these onion rings with a spork or something. Then he lost it, a grin coming to his lips. “Nah, I’ll let the pretty girl here have her onion rings. This time…” He cast a playful glance in her direction. “Next time, though, you better watch it. I’ll be quick like a ninja! You’ll never know what hit ya.” Oh yeah. He was definitely a big kid sitting at their table, a bit eccentric and no filter on what he said at all.

The brunette was extremely glad to have something to do after school now, because it was going to be amazing. She was going to wear his number at every basketball game until the end of the season. Even if they were not together, Nathan was a very good friend of hers. He was one of only people that accepted her in the town. She smiled whenever he talked about their upcoming week. She was glad that he liked to kiss her, and even more glad that he planned things for them. He was a sweetheart, and that was why she was not shocked that he was planning something different. “But I want to know what you have up your sleeve Nate!”
She started to pout, but then he was being cute. She knew that if she was able to resist that charm a little bit he was going to kiss away her pouting, and he nipped at her ear, and down her cheekbone, and then to her lips. They parted before her new friend had entered the scene. Jared was always around and always a friendly face. He made her feel even more accepted, but she had no idea what the senior had in mind whenever he thought about her. But whenever he managed to come into the picture the brunette could not help herself but start to babble. She teased him about the football season, and was honestly upset that she had missed it. That was when the beginning of the onion ring battle began. She seriously could not believe how they were just shoving those disgusting french fries in their mouths, but they were boys. It was to be expected. “French fries are so gross. BUT these would be way more awesome if they had the Burger King onion ring sauce. That would make them like drool worthy.” She looked at Jared before she stuck her tongue out at him and blew a raspberry at his misfortune. She was content with her onion rings, and then Nate was defending her onion rings honor. Randi could not have been more happy with her choice considering he was defending her honor to Jared. “You will let me have my onion rings. You keep your ninja skills in check Jared, because Nate here will defend my honor. Like he defends my o-rings, besides you can’t possibly hurt the basketball star!” She laughed a little and was so happy to have her two favorite men in her life, but there was a way that Jared always looked at her that made her hazel eyes lock onto him. She was excited about her date with Nate, but her little heart was still fluttering whenever Jared was around. It was a weird dynamic but a dynamic that she was happening. “So Jared, why sit with the little freshman and her amazing boyfriend today? Or is it because of you wanting to tease me about my uniform? I’m teasing you little ninja you, but Nate is taking me somewhere this week and he won’t tell me. You should make him tell me.” She looked over at Nate fully aware that she may have just found a loop hole because she never asked him, she was making Jared ask him.[/blockquote] _____________________ tagged for : nate // kate && jared // mercy

"Too bad, I'm not telling you." He grinned at his girlfriend, popping another warm fry into his mouth. It was no McDonald's fry, but it would have to do. Nate shook his head, rolling his eyes at his adorable girlfriend. "You're lucky you're beautiful, because you have a horrible opinion." He joked, watching Randi's childish behaviour around Jared. Granted, she was always childlike, but the senior boy seemed to be just as child like as Randi. Nate couldn't help but feel a tad uncomfortable by it, not only because of his observations but because of the way Jared had referred to his girlfriend as 'pretty girl.' He was confident that Randi liked him, because really, his girlfriend could have gotten any boy she wanted, including Jared. However, he wasn't blind or stupid. Jared had to like Randi, and maybe Randi had a small thing for the boy of whom she thought was out of reach.
Nate's insecurities subsided for a little while when Randi referred to him as her amazing boyfriend. He smiled lightly, his heart pounding a little harder. He really did like this girl. He had grown accustomed to having her in his life, even if they hadn't know each other for an incredibly long time. He enjoyed looking after her, doing nice things for her, seeing her smile. He supposed he would just have to count his blessings and have her in his life for as long as he could. He listened as Randi asked Jared why he was sitting with a freshman and a sophomore, which Nate wondered also. He listened until he had to shake his head once again, laughing as his girlfriend tried to find a loop hole in his request. "Oh no no no, no one is going to make me tell you. I told you, it's a surprise." He tapped her lightly on the nose, staring into those deep brown eyes of hers. He couldn't help it, sometimes she just made him feel like no one else was around.

Yeah, he was seriously sitting there, talking with what had to be the prettiest little thing that he had ever seen and her boyfriend, and letting the conversation include things like fighting over onion rings and mad ninja skills. That was just who Jared was, and while some people found him a bit odd, everyone thought he was damn entertaining. It was true that he acted like a big kid, the eighteen-year-old that still had an eight-year-old mentality, but that was how the boy had always been. It often seemed as though he lived on his own little world, coming up with completely random things that made people stop and look at him like he might not be all there. That couldn’t be further from the truth, though, as Jared was an extremely smart kind of guy. He just liked to goof off and have fun; so what if he was just a little bit eccentric? He ran on a natural high, and he would much rather take things as they come, have a good laugh, and live his life this way than get bogged down with all the stupid shit in life that really didn’t matter at all. And, what was even better was that he seemed to have found another young, kindred soul in Randi James. She was just as light hearted as Jared was, and they seemed to be on the same wavelength all the time. That was a rare find for Jared Trent.
He listened as she continued to talk about her onion rings, Jared’s eyes drifting down to her delicious, deep fried pieces of onion as she spoke but being careful not to eye them too long. Then she was dragging Nate into it again, saying that he would defend her honor and her onion rings. He raised an eyebrow when she said that he couldn’t possibly hurt the little basketball star. Jared knew perfectly well who Nate was and what he did. He understood the jock hierarchy, but Jared thought he could definitely take the younger boy. You know, if it ever came down to it. Why would Jared, the senior, want to sit with the pretty little freshmen and her sophomore boyfriend? He shrugged. “I don’t know. Seemed better than getting stuck with Hunter again. But I can move if you think y’all are too cool for me.” He was obviously picking, and she responded with saying that she was only just teasing as well. He smiled, eating one of his less than awesome French fries. Next she was telling Jared that he should make Nate fess up to what his plans were for them and the weekend. Jared did look Nate’s way, but the younger boy was already protesting and telling her that there was no way that anyone was going to make him tell. Jared looked back at her and shrugged again. “You heard him. And I’m not one to ruin surprises. You shouldn’t be either. Let the boy do something nice for you. You deserve it.” There. Jared could help another guy out, and he just grinned over at Randi, as he had already learned that she was not one to fully appreciate surprises like she should.

this post is tagged for nathaniel tristan jacobson && jared mitchell trent . it is dunzo and has seven hundred and seventy words. the one and only taylor swift contributed to this inspiration from the song sparks fly . this template was created by the amazing amber you steal it and there will be an angry baby who will eat your brains no joke. additional notes i seriously love these three <3 ______________________ Randi was pouting at Nate, because he would not tell her what he had up his sleeve. It did not make her happy considering that she hated surprises. Surprises up until the move to Arietta, had never been good. She was always being hit for something, that was the surprises that the brunette had received. Things had been different for the past two weeks, but this was still something that she did not really want to think about. She knew that Nate would be sweet, because that was who he was. It was nothing against him, but it was just that she was not a surprise girl. Jared was a surprise that she liked though, Grams made her meet all of the Trent’s. They were all amazing people, and she was thankful to have people like them in her life. All the brothers were told that they had to look out for her, and Jared may have taken it a little to heart. Because no one messed with the brunette whenever he was around. It was adorable, but she popped her onion rings in her mouth making it an overly exaggerated thing because he wanted them. Jared was also the only person that got her entire kid mentality. She was really just an eight year old trapped in a fourteen year old body. Hell the first time she had met Jared outside of school, she was in a tree. It was something that she did, with her hair in pigtails. It was so cute, at least that was what he had told her. “You know what, my opinion is adorable. And your french fries are gross. So keep your salty grossness away from my epic onion rings. And yes, I am pretty cute, but so are you. So you are lucky that you are a stud because you opinion is dumb.” She had to laugh at how she teased Nate about his french fries. He was just too adorable, and apparently all of the cheerleaders just wanted her around because she was able to get the guys.
Miranda James had no idea what they were talking about whenever they said that every guy in the school wanted her. It was something that she never understood because she was not that beautiful like Nate always told her, but somehow everyone thought that she was worthy. Jared always called her pretty girl, and she was always blushing whenever he paid her attention. She tried to keep her eyes off of him, just so that Nathan would not notice. It was hard, but she played it cool. Randi had grown accustomed to having Nathan in her life and walking her to class. It was something that she was glad to have, something stable and someone that wanted her as well. She smiled at both boys, especially whenever Jared started to pick at her. “You are definitely not leaving. Besides Hunter is probably glad to be rid of you for an afternoon. Besides, I like sitting with you at lunch. You make it interesting.” It was true, because he always made her laugh. From the first lunch she had met him, he always made her laugh and always called her pretty girl. Something she would never say she enjoyed. She pouted at Nate whenever he instantly put a stop to her plan. “But what if I don’t like surprises? There is a reason that I don’t, so you should probably just tell me. I like our dinner dates, and you are throwing me for a loop. As for you Jared, you are supposed to be on my side. Meanie, you totally just ruined my chance of finding out what it is I am doing. There is a reason I don’t like surprises.” She was not so certain that she deserved a surprise that did not involve a fist to her face, but that was what happened. “And I don’t, but you are nice. So are you going to go to school after you graduate? Or are you leaving me all alone?” She smiled at Jared, but she liked to talk to him. Randi laid her head against Nate’s shoulder so he would know that she was still thinking about him, even though she was talking to Jared. When he was around, she just couldn’t help but babble a little bit. She whispered to him “You still aren’t off the hook, just so you know.”.
