The past few months had been the highlight of Vidette's life as of yet; she had a wonderful boyfriend, great friends, and a phenomenal business. Of course, that wonderful boyfriend had made his fair share of mistakes in the past, though Viddy couldn't necessarily blame him for all of them, and he had certainly been doing his best to prove to her that he was worthy of her affections. So, despite all of the mishaps and misunderstandings in the past, she was willing to forgive him - for almost everything - and work on starting a real relationship. So far things were looking up. Kaler was the boyfriend she never knew he could be, and he never hesitated to remind her how much he cared for her. Though all the extra reinforcement wasn't really necessary, it was nice to know that he wanted to assure her of it, so she'd never have to second guess their relationship. It was a shame, though, that he had screwed things up so badly with Shayne that his actions deterred Vidette from gushing to her best friend about their relationship. Viddy was genuinely happy with Kaler; he brought out a side of her that the girl had nearly forgotten ever existed. Lately, she had become a lot more outgoing and adventurous, more willing to indulge in wild nights out on the town with her best friends, rather than staying cooped up inside to perfect new recipes. And while she knew that Shayne and Evan and pretty much everyone else appreciated this change in attitude, it would be nice to swoon over how fantastic her fort with Kaler had turned out (no thanks to her, mind you) and their cute phone conversations. Unfortunately for her, her own boyfriend robbed her of that privilege several months ago. It was the one thing she couldn't forgive.
Tonight was not the night for gushing about boys - or, in her case, listening to Shayne gush about Jem. No. Tonight was about she and her best friend getting as intoxicated as possible and having a complete blast while doing so. No tricks, no games, no backing out. Vidette had scoured her liquor cabinet earlier in the day, finding a bottle of tequila tucked between the Jack Daniels and her favorite margarita mix. To say that such a find excited her would be an understatement, and the first person that popped into her mind was Shayne. The two practically survived off of this stuff, though they could still claim that they hadn't reached a state of alcoholism yet. Shayne had seemed very gung-ho at the suggestion of having another one of their wild girls' nights, Vidette only having to mention that a bottle was in her possession before her best friend was agreeing. However, Vidette had volunteered herself to cover for the girl if the duo decided to drunk dial anyone (anyone being Jem) and a certain confession came spilling from Shayne's mouth in a haze of intoxication. Vid could only hope that Jem would believe any excuse tossed his way, and even if he didn't she hoped that he was nice enough to be a good sport and play along with that excuse until Shayne was fully ready to confront her feelings - both with herself, and Jem.
As it was, Vidette had begun her hunt for shot glasses, face buried within her cabinets until she found them hiding behind coffee tumblers and mugs. A triumphant grin stretched her features as she placed several glasses down on the counter, despite the fact that there would only be two of them enjoying this miniature party. Who knows what kind of adventures the girls would get themselves into tonight, but either way, Viddy was certain that they wouldn't be confined to this house. It was a rarity for them to remain on their 'best behavior' while under the influence of alcohol, and Vidette couldn't honestly remember a time that they hadn't gotten themselves in some sort of trouble on nights like this. They hadn't ended up in jail yet, and while Viddy was silently praying that tonight wouldn't be their first, she couldn't make any promises. The sound of her front door opening had a smile tugging at the corner of her lips, and she lifted her head just as Shayne came into view. "I hope you're ready," she quipped, twisting the cap off of the tequila bottle with ease. "It's going to be a long night." A long, adventurous night. And Vidette was certain that, even if they woke up with the worst hangovers ever and the inability to remember what the hell had happened the night before, it was going to be a glorious evening. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ sorry it's so short! ): my muse like...died.

There was one thing in the world that Shayne Brennan missed more than anything, and that was spending with her best friend in the entire world Vidette Garland. Ever since Vidette had realized her feelings of love for a certain someone it had not been the same. Shayne and Vidette had this way about them that they were either getting totally too intoxicated or they were talking about boys. Unfortunately her best friend had fallen had over heels in love with a man that had tried to kill her. It was still a very touchy subject whenever it came to Shayne, because she was never going to forgive him for that. Never for making her look like a fool, never for making her think she was special, and then the biggie of wrapping his hand around her neck and nearly taking her life with his hands. But tonight she was not going to let her feelings about Kaler get in the way of spending some quality time drinking tequila with Vidette.
It had seriously been too long for the two girls, but both of them had significant people in their lives. Vidette had found solace in Kaler Scott, Shayne’s ex; the irony was that Shayne was completely in love with Vidette’s ex-boyfriend James Hale. Jem had been nothing but a gentleman to the brunette, and he had some how managed to completely stay out of her life whenever Vidette had been dating him. James Hale was too much of a sweetheart to be friends with such a monster in Shayne’s eyes. Never had she imagined that when she met him for drinks and had to eventually explain why her little frame was not in the emergency room for over a week that it would have been his best friend. Jem was a sweetheart, and Kaler was nothing like that. He knew how to be sweet and make someone feel special but that was about it. James actually went to the trouble to cook her dinner for her birthday and make her cupcakes. He had especially indulged in her after work tradition of a bubble bath. Though it was not her usual bubble bath in her apartment, it had been ten time better. Even if the whole even had been surrounded with her doing their laundry at his house. Shayne had basically started to live with Jem, and it was something she had not expected at all.
Before she left for Vidette’s she had called Jem just to warn him that it was tequila night with Viddy. She had figured it was probably a good thing to warn him about the fact that Shayne and Viddy had been talking about where this night was going to take them, although they had yet to end up in jail there was a first for everything. The two girls hardly were confined to a house, did not matter where they started it was never where they ended. It also shocked Shayne more than anything that she had not wrecked either of their cars in the process of these drunken stupors. But this was the Cristina and Meredith of Arietta, they drank tequila like it was their job. They talked about boys and they created their own kind of mischief. Tonight though, they had decided to wear sweats to try and deter themselves from going anywhere after they actually began drinking. Shayne knew that was not going to stop them, but she pulled her hair up into a ponytail that she was growing quite accustomed to because of that boyfriend of hers. They did not really get to spend a lot of time together unless they were sleeping, or working the same shifts at their separate jobs. But she had needed a night with Vid and thankfully Jem totally understood that. She grabbed the keys to her little Element and started the ten minute drive to her best friend’s house. She smiled at the idea of it, and was thankful to get the time to hang out.
Shayne knew that there was a very large chance that in this night of stupidity that she was going to be confessing something very close to her heart. Something she had not really told Vidette the truth. Shayne knew that she had fallen for Jem just like she knew that Vidette had done. These thoughts clouded her mind as she drove, because she knew that she loved James Alexander Hale with all of her heart, but she was not ready to admit that in her sober self. She parked her Element in the driveway and started the trek up to the door. Knowing Viddy, she had left it unlocked for her, and she twisted the door knob to let herself in. She shrugged out of her coat and headed over to wear Vidette was already pouring tequila in the shot glasses. “I was born ready Cristina. This is me that we are talking about.”
She laughed lightly as a smile graced her lips. She had missed moments like this with her best friend and was glad that their boyfriends had managed to live without them for one night of sheer stupidity. She listened as Viddy mused over how long this night was going to be. It was the truth and she knew it. “You are underestimating us again, but whatever. Where’s the salt?” Shayne looked at what preparations were in front of her for the shots of tequila that were going to be taken shortly.
The two brunettes could easily take the shots without the salt, but until Shayne was drunk enough she would rather have salt. Then she could care less and would probably start just drinking from the bottle on the floor like they normally did. She did however let something catch her eye in the living room. She grabbed the salt, took a quick peek and laughed lightly. Headed back over to Vidette she smiled grabbed a shot and let it slid down her throat. It was such a good burn, and then she smiled brightly at Viddy and let the question slip from her lips. “So when did you redecorate? Because I do not remember a fort in the middle of the living room whenever I was hear last.” She laughed lightly as she grabbed the next shot and took it like a champ. Oh Vidette had been right about one thing. It sure was going to be a long night. _____________________ tagged for: vidette // maggie <3[/blockquote]

Vidette could honestly admit, without a doubt, that Shayne Brennan was the best thing to ever happen to her. The two had been friends for as long as Vidette could remember - though it actually wasn't all that long. They had been friendly to each other for years, but never actually took the time to get to know one another until their late high school years. It had all started when Vidette got detention - typical, I know - but she wasn't exactly the detention type. She had been caught skipping school with her boyfriend at the time, James Hale, and considering it was only her first offense, the school decided to reprimand her with a few days of after school detention. It sucked, but she was willing to take it to save herself from suspension. It was there, in some grimy little classroom in the basement of the school that she met Shayne; to this day, Vidette still didn't know what Shayne had done to land herself in detention, but she really couldn't have cared less. Shayne had passed her a crinkled up note with a joke about the teachers tupe, and it was history from there. Vidette felt a connection with her like she had never felt with another girl before. She had always gotten along better with guys, finding girls too catty to socialize with on a regular basis, but Shayne had been the exception to that. And suddenly, Viddy had a best friend.
Not much had changed since then - except almost everything - but they were still two peas in a pod. They went together like peanut butter and jelly, as cliche as that is. Over the years the pair have made some pretty crazy memories, the majority of them involving alcohol and risking their lives doing stupid stunts, and Vidette realized that she would easily give an arm and a leg to have this friendship forever. Which is precisely why she had spent that month away from her current boyfriend. Kaler had almost ruined everything with his seemingly harmless scheming. It was still unclear to Vidette if he knew that she and Shayne were best friends when he was fooling around with them both, and she wasn't sure if she wanted to know the answer or not. Either way, he had led Shayne to believe that they had been in a committed, monogamous relationship, all the while he was going behind her back and spending an immense amount of time gallivanting around with Vidette herself. However, Viddy knew he was sleeping with other women, knew that her relationship with Kaler was purely based on benefits and not on feelings, and at first she had been perfectly okay with that. Well, no, that's a lie. At first, she wanted nothing to do with him at all and had spent countless hours trying to fend him off. Somehow she had given in, and their quasi-relationship began. Though she always had an inkling that the time he spent with her was unlike the time he spent with his other flings, and while that seemed completely far fetched, she couldn't help but feel hopeful. Before she knew what was happening, she was in love. In love with a man who didn't even know the word love existed. So, she kept quiet, in the hopes that she could simply bury the feelings and their little moments could continue undisturbed, but when Shayne had caught her 'boyfriend' kissing none other than Vidette herself, not only one relationship was ruined...but three were. The girls had managed to make up fairly quickly, both swearing Kaler off like he was a contagious disease, and all was well again.
Despite the fact that Shayne was less than pleased with Vidette's new relationship with the man who had so cruelly come between them, their friendship was now stronger than ever. They spent a great deal of time on the phone, gossiping about anything and everything, and gushing over how Johnny Depp and Robert Downey Jr. seemed to get increasingly hotter with age. She would patiently listen to all of Shayne's stories about Jem and swoon at all the right moments. They'd see movies together the day they would open and criticize the entire thing like they were professional critics. But most of their time was spent drowning in bottles of liquor - tequila, preferably - and getting into heaps of trouble, which was exactly what they had planned for tonight. Vidette grabbed the salt for Shayne, passing it over only after licking the side of her hand and pouring some on. A smirk graced her lips as Shayne finally noticed the giant cloth structure in her living room, grabbing a shot and throwing it down her throat with a tip of her head. "He-who-must-not-be-named got a little antsy one day and decided he wanted to travel back in time and revist his golden years." To say she had been surprised when Kaler suggested they construct a giant fort in the center of her small living room was an understatement, but the fact that she had kept it up this long only went to show how much she adored his sudden burst of cute creativity. Her second shot went down without the lick of salt, and her face scrunched up as the familiar burn engulfed her. "Shit's strong," she coughed, realizing just how long it had been since she and Shayne had gotten together. If she was thinking the word strong, it had obviously been too long. "I keep forgetting that thing is there," she stated in reference to the fort, nodding her head in the direction of the structure. "I go to watch TV and there's this giant sheet in my way. I literally have to climb into the fort every time I want to hang in my living room." Vidette playfully shook her head, pouring both of them another shot and passing one over to Shayne. "Cheers!" And within the first five minutes, down went their third shot. Long night wouldn't even begin to cover what they were inevitably getting themselves into. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ it's about time i replied to this!
