on a bright, sunny day in arietta nothing sounded more appealing than bugging her best friend as roxy walked along the sidewalk in the direction of max black's house. for as long as she could remember, max was her best friend and it all really started back in high school when she became a cheerleader - only because she could perfect stunts like no other - and was looking to rebel. max, on the other hand, was a well known drug dealer and became roxy's lifeline to whatever high she wanted that day. at first, max refused to sell drugs to her - a cheerleader? he simply brushed her off and tossed a smart remark her way, which only lead to roxy's aggravation. she eventually proved to max she could not only handle her alcohol, but her drug of choice as well. she wasn't some stupid cheerleader who wanted to get high and snort because daddy was having financial trouble, she wanted to do it because that's who roxy was. since then, max became stuck with roxy. the twenty-three year old glided down the path as she brushed her hair behind her shoulder. she hadn't seen max in a few days; they had texted, of course, but since he was busy with classes and she was busy skipping them for her current hook up of the week, they hadn't really hung out in a while. it surprised many when they found out roxy was in college and not only was she in college, but she was studying psychology. she always wanted to know why people did what they did and what kind of nerve works the way it does. it was unfair to misjudge the brunette, but it wasn't like she gave herself much of a reason for people to think highly of her. she went to classes when she pleased and although she tried to stay focus and on top of her school work, something always distracted her.
various things kept her away from doing the right thing and although roxy liked to blame it on everyone but herself, it was mainly her. lately, she seemed to be avoiding the trent household so when boredom found it's way to her, max was the first thing that popped into her mind. not only was roxy best friends with mykayla and had a close bond with jared, there was kade and hunter, too. roxy got along with hunter really well and although they had taken their friendship to a completely different level a while back, as of now, they were absolutely nothing. roxy slipped up and decided she wanted to ditch him for his brother, kade. now that roxy was hooking up with kade, hunter seemed to hate her for it and the only two real people that were willing to be friends with her with mykayla and jared. amy was another who seemed to hate her guts, too. she knew max was the only one who could help. as the thoughts swirled around in her mind, a slight smile spread across her face as she walked up the path to the black house and allowed herself in with no knock. it was normal for roxy to randomly appear whenever she got bored at her own house and today was no surprise. max never seemed to irked whenever she did drop by and the two always found something to smoke whenever they were together. "sup loser?" roxy spoke, entering the room to see max's head burried in a pile of textbooks. plopping herself on the couch beside him, roxy flicked on the tv only to know she was annoying max by disturbing his study session.
being friends with a med student had it's advantages and disadvantages - he could easily detect alcohol posioning, but he also spent his downtime studying to know more in depth the medical codes and symptoms. not only did school bore her to death and it was a miracle she graduated, roxy hardly ever studied but somehow managed to get good grades and surprisingly pass. reaching for one of the textbooks that lay open with stick notes placed on the page, roxy scanned over a few of the words before scoffing and shutting it close. "i still don't understand why i keep you around." roxy shook her head dismissing the idea. max was a smart guy, but he also snuck down the wrong path roxy lived on. drugs and alcohol consumed his life just as much as it did her's and that's where they found their common ground. without that, the brunette would never be able to keep up with someone as smart as a medical student with brains like max's. whenever roxy wanted a buzz, she knew to come to max and since she usually got whatever she wanted from his stash, she didn't expect today to be any different. "you need to stop. your brain is going to fry if you keep reading any longer." she commented, shutting the book closed that was placed in his hands like it was no big deal. roxy was so carefree and when it came to his studies, max definitely wasn't. she shruged and tossed her hair behind her shoulders as she watched his serious expression shift into an irritated one.

max sighed as he highlighted another sentence in his school book. he had been studying for hours and now he was tired of it. he typically didn't study, but seeing that the exam the next day was going to be half his grade, he figured he better crack open the book and look over the material. to make matters worse, the twenty-three year old was battling a craving for a hit of anything at this very moment! he didn't want to be studying. he wanted to be smoking a joint or snorting cocaine. anything but what he was doing! the words on the book began to run into each other as he read through, so he decided to take a moment to relax. tossing the book to his side on the couch, he went into the kitchen down the hall. the refrigerator was full of alcohol, but being the good kid for once, he grabbed one of the few sodas instead. he took a long swig before returning to the living room to do yet even more studying. he kept telling himself that if he studied for one more hour - two at the most - he'd be able to call it a day and get high off of whatever was within his reach. just as he thought this, the main distraction in his life that didn't consist of drugs or alcohol walked into his house.
a smile immediately came to his lips, knowing who it was without even having to look up from his book. "nice to see you, too, rox." max said as the smile on his face grew even bigger. he felt the cushion beside him move, causing him to finally look up to see his best friend was now sitting beside him and clearly annoyed to see him studying. she probably was hoping to score some drugs the second she came in, thinking max himself would be high as a kite by now. instead, here he was - nose in a book! he was about to highlight another sentence when the book was pushed shut by a petite hand belonging to roxy. her words made him roll his eyes in a playful manner before he grabbed his coca-cole for another drink. "you'd die without me. and i mean it!" he gave her a smile as he downed the rest of the bottle. his eyes went to the television that she had turned on, sizing up whatever show she was watching. from what he could tell, it wasn't much and nothing he'd ever watch. her next comment really made him scoff. "not to sound like a prude, but studying is the last thing that will make a person's brain fry. despite my love for it, drugs would do it much quicker. believe me, rox. i'm a med student! i know these things." he gave her a wink before propping his feet up on the coffee table.
ooc: i'll make this pretty tomorrow or eventually. lol.

roxy's blank stare was captivated towards the television as she pressed her lips together, only nodding at the things her best friend had to say. turning towards max after a few seconds of silence, "your right, it better be nice to see me because all you have done is hide out in your man cave and drink coke as you highlight medical terms. it's been days!" she playfully snapped as she glanced over at max before her gaze settled on the tv once more. after shutting max's book close seconds before the hightlighter was about to be pressed to the page, roxy smirked. "no! i'd be spend my life sober." whenever she was with max, it was a complete urge to smoke whatever drug he had laying around. they would sometimes even argue over who got to snort first! she could remember the first time they got high together like it was yesterday and the times after that became a blur. as if roxy wasn't loud already, put some alcohol in her and she got obnoxiously loud - if getting louder was even possible for the petite brunette. "yeah, alright dr. black, but i'd much rather have my cause of death be a fried brain from drugs and not studying." she teased, gently leaning in to bump shoulders with him before continuing on. "which is why you never see me, roxy donatelli, with a nose in a book. i'll be glad to read you us magazine and tell you all about brangelina, but don't ask me how to do some weird, complicated physics problem." although a lot of people underestimated roxy's smarts and mistakened her for some washed up whore with a bad partying habit, roxy was smart enough to study if she actually tried. but she left that up to max and while she normally pigged out on junk food and watched reality shows while he studied, it was a friendship no one else understood besides the two of them.
the brunette rose to her feet and entered the kitchen seconds later. opening the fridge and poking her head inside to see tempting bottles of alcohol placed like a trap with cheese for mice, roxy sighed and rolled her eyes before grabbing a coke. she couldn't start drinking without max and until he shut the books for good, she would have to stick to drinking soda in the meantime. "your such a disappointment, maxim!" she called, knowing exactly what she was doing. no one ever called max by his full name and she was the only one who dared to. she knew it made his skin crawl and got his blood pressure rising, but she couldn't help herself. it was just something the two did to annoy each other! before walking out of the kitchen, roxy spotted a bag of chips on the counter looking like a perfectly set up trap again. she rolled her eyes, max knew her way too well! sinking back into the couch once more, roxy threw a chip at max to see his book wide open again and the neon bright highlighter skimming the page. "stop it, it's unhealthy." she complained, popping a chip into her mouth as her eyes focused back on the screen. "wouldn't you much rather watch lame reality shows with me and make fun of the people casted on it? or wouldn't you love to walk yourself to the kitchen to grab some beer?" she paused, knowing exactly what would make him glance her way. "and it would be totally acceptable if you walk yourself to that drawer over there where you stuff your junk and try to hide it from me!" she stuck her tounge out at him and she reached over and knocked the book to the floor. erupting into a fit of giggles as she watched it hit the floor, roxy knew eventually she would get her way - she always did!
