How this had even come about was a total and complete fluke. This wasn’t really something that Kade had gone out looking for that night that he had ended up in the bar, as his intention then was do nothing but sit back, drink some beers, and catch up a little bit with his friend that was working the bar that night, Kaler Scott. The evening had started off slowly and the two men had been able to talk some, but when things had picked up Kaler had had to work, leaving Kade to his own devices, which was when the female bartender working that night caught his attention. Isobel Caulfield wasn’t a woman that he knew a whole lot about other than she and Kaler had only just recently had a thing that had been shortly lived, and Kade had to agree with his friend’s taste in women. She was sexy as hell, and she absolutely knew it, too. Kade had heard some about her from Kaler, but he couldn’t remember ever having the opportunity to meet her himself so he was pleased to get the opportunity when she came to get him another beer. She was easy to chat with, and the way those blue eyes looked at him seemed to imply a number of things that were going through her mind about him, all in the sexual sense and Kade found himself caught up in it so much that he had made the move of slipping her his cell phone number.
He hadn’t thought anything would come of it, and hadn’t even bothered to mention it to Kaler. Kade knew his friend, and knew how he still felt about that dark haired beauty despite the fact that he was now with another woman. Kade was a good three or four inches taller than Kaler, but just because the other man was shorter didn’t mean he couldn’t kick Kade’s ass. Kade absolutely knew better than to push his luck there, but even with this knowledge, he had still agreed to go to Izzy’s house after she had called him. There was just something about her that he wasn’t able to turn down; surely Kaler would understand that… Kade had to stop from rolling his eyes at that thought, and decided not to worry about it until later. Right now, he was pulling up into the driveway of the house that had a shiny red Chevy Camaro sitting in front of it. Her home hadn’t been difficult to find at all, and Kade parked his truck behind the sports car and headed for the front door. He knocked, then took a step back and waited. She had been expecting him, so he didn’t expect to be kept waiting on the porch for long, or kept waiting long in general. There had been a certain quality to her voice when they had spoken on the phone earlier, and Kade had a feeling that this was going to be one hell of an evening, one that would be well worth any consequence he faced later.

[ It was something that was hard for her to go to work everyday knowing that Kaler was totally content with someone else. She did however know that what they had was not something that was going to go away. Izzy was the kind of girl though that got revenge for broken hearts, but she was having an even harder time dealing with working him every night. The two of them still had that dorky way of dealing with the people from the bar, but that night Izzy had not been the girl who was happy with being a bartender. She worked and tried to stay away from Kaler as much as possible as they closed the bar. There had been a guy though that caught her eye. He was extremely good looking, the downfall was that he was talking to Kaler. Obviously this was a friend of his, maybe someone that would know what to tell her to do. She however did not know how this was supposed to work, but that was when Kaler and her were forced to work opposite ends of the bar. It had picked up, but there was the boy that sparked her interest. He had slipped her his number, because well it was Izzy. She had no idea as to why he would do it if he was friends with Kaler, but he did and she called. Izzy figured there was no harm in doing, so she kept his number. What the hell was the harm in seeing if the man wanted to have a good time with her, because clearly Isobel Caulfield was not going to be looking for a relationship of any kind. Obviously Kaler had ruined that for her and she was just going to be her little self. Izzy just wanted to have some fun and do what she wanted.
There was nothing keeping her to Kaler, because they were just friends. He was obviously happier with someone else and she had not been enough for him. She knew that whenever they started this, but she had to find her kicks elsewhere. So whenever she called Kade that afternoon, she really just needed some company. Izzy found herself drinking herself into a stupor, and she needed someone to keep around to meet the rest of her needs. It was a different guy, maybe the same guy a few times, but no man was going to get into her life like Kaler had. She would move on before someone new came into her life. But right now, she was waiting for Kade to get his ass over to her house for some entertainment. Soon enough she saw a truck pulling in behind her camaro, and there he was. He was tall and dreamy, just the way she liked them. She bounced herself away from the window and down to the door. When she got there, Kade had already made it to the doorway. She smirked at him whenever she opened the door and let him into her house. “That was pretty speedy. Must have been able to set that babysitter up pretty quick, huh?”
She laughed lightly and stepped out of the way. She did not know what she wanted to do, because this reminded her of a night not long ago that started a friendship that was the same reason that she was here staring at Kade. Alright, this was Izzy though, she grabbed the bottle of tequila she had been carrying took a drink, and then kissed him. What the hell, she had warned him that she was impatient. “So you know Kaler, and how is it that we never met?” Izzy had known most of his friends, but this one she did not know. She actually like him enough too, Kade seemed nice. And she just needed someone to keep her company.[/blockquote] ______________________

Kade had been correct in thinking that Izzy wouldn’t keep him waiting long. Just moments after he had knocked lightly on her front door, she was there opening it and offering him a big old smirk. “That was pretty speedy. Must have been able to set that babysitter up pretty quick, huh?” He just grinned as he stepped through the door, wiping his feet on the rug as he did. “Well, it wasn’t like she actually needed a babysitter. More like a few reminders and emergency numbers left on the counter in case she needs anything.” Yes, Kade did realize that he was treating his twenty-two year old sister like she was a teenager being left home alone for the first time, and he didn’t expect people to understand why he did. Mykayla was quite capable of taking care of herself even now with her newfound condition, but Kade worried himself to death over her, and whether or not she was going to be okay from one hour to the next. Kade didn’t know if Izzy knew Mykayla or not, but he didn’t mention her name and didn’t really care to get into chit-chat mode. And, if he understood what this evening was going to be about, Izzy wasn’t going to care to get to know much about his family or his whole life story, either. That just wasn’t how these kinds of evenings typically went; Kade knew that much, even though he hadn’t engaged in something like this for a long while. Sex, yes. Random one night hook-up with a hot female bartender? Not so much.
Next thing, Izzy was picking up a bottle of some kind of liquor, taking a swig before she walked right up and kissed Kade. It had taken him by surprise, but he liked her style. She was a woman that obviously knew what she wanted, and didn’t waste time on getting it. “So you know Kaler, and how is it that we never met?” Ah, that probably was a pretty big question mark in her mind, seeing as from what Kade had heard she had been in with most of Kaler’s friends. “I haven’t been around long. I grew up here, but I left about a year ago. Just got back and started getting settled the last few weeks.” That explained his absence from the picture that she had most likely formed in her head with all of her ex’s friends and extended family members. It was a wonder that she hadn’t heard about him, or his whole messy story, but again, Kade wasn’t ready to delve into that with someone who had invited him over here for one reason, that reason not being to make him into her new best friend or to chat just because he was one of the imaginable few in this town that she didn’t already know. “But I have to say, that bar has made quite the improvement. They didn’t have sexy bartenders like you last time I was here.” Most of the bartenders in this town were men, all older and somewhat rough around the edges. Kaler had been the start of the younger crop, and that trend seemed to be spreading.

[
The brunette watched Kade as he came in her home and wiped his shoes. It was pretty funny to see him, and then there was the fact that he was talking about his little sister. It made her think of a teenager who was little. Almost like Peyton in the fact that Kaler never left without telling her when he would be home, and everything else. It was funny to think that every man in this town had a younger sibling that they had to think about. She smirked at him brightly as she listened to him explain about his sister. “Well if she doesn’t need a babysitter, she probably doesn’t need reminders."
But it is kind of cute how he was protective over her, Izzy could see herself being friends with Kade if she really wanted to be. That was the dilemia, if she wanted to be friends with benefits she was going to have to open herself up to the whole idea of being friends with someone. That scared her a little more than what she wanted to admit because she was still very much attached to Kaler. This was her way of dealing with the pain that was growing inside of her. The tequila was not helping matters like it normally did, and she realized this was the same sorry way that she looked at Kaler when their thing had occurred. Lost to the bottom of a bottle of liquor, but thankfully Kade was not judging her or at least not letting it show on his body language. Izzy was an impatient thing, and when she had called him up it was for one thing. The brunette wanted to have sex, wanted to take her mind off of everything that was going on in her life. That was why she had just kissed him first. Clear the air and get this started, but then it happened. Her question was something that kind of just sparked, but the last thing she wanted to talk about was Kaler. She was in a mood that wanted nothing to do with him, and she really hated having to work with him all the time. he just got under her skin, especially when his new girlfriend decided to pay him a visit. The downfall of being friends with Kaler still was that his friends were hers. It was difficult for her, but she listened to Kade and what he said rather than her own thoughts. “Well, I can say that I am happy you came back. Otherwise you would not be in my house right now, and quite frankly I am glad you came by.” Her body was still close to him, and she felt the heat of him against herself. She was content just standing there letting her lips touch his for now, at least until he made that move. She smirked as he said about the improvements at the bar, and it was true. Up until a few months ago she had not been working. She finally decided to get a job and stop being boring because she needed something to do. Kaler just happened to get her the job. “Yeah it is a bit of an improvement. I guess they just need a damn sexy bartender to start working. But thanks, but I guess it was just meant for you to walk in eventually. So why are you just standing here Kade, wouldn’t you rather being doing something?” She was pretty happy to have him there and she let her body get even closer to him. She knew what she wanted, and right now it was the tall man who was standing against her.[/blockquote] ______________________

Kade just smiled politely at Izzy as she said that perhaps Mykayla didn’t need reminders if she was indeed capable of being home alone without a babysitter. Well, that could have very well been true for any other twenty-two year old, but Kay was a special case these days. Kade knew that she could take care of herself without his constant hovering and reminders, but he was her big brother, and he had been taking care of her for as long as he could remember. Now she needed him, maybe more than ever, and he was probably going a little overboard with the whole thing but that was just Kade’s way. He wanted to make sure that she was taking her medications and her supplements. He needed to know that she was eating correctly and taking care of herself. That was his job, and he didn’t care who thought that he was babying her. They would all understand eventually. And, if Izzy came to know and understand one thing about Kade Trent, it was that he cared deeply for his family and they would come first no matter what. And you know, he had seen the look of amusement on her face as he had wiped his shoes off, but if she Marion Trent, she would understand that wiping and then taking your shoes off at the front door was a mannerism that was beat into you at an early age with a wooden spoon in her household. Not that any of that particularly mattered. If Izzy chose to get to know him, those things would become known to her over time. Right now, neither of them was overly concerned with the details.
That patented Trent grin came to Kade’s lips when she said that she was glad that he had come back, and glad to have him there inside of her house. He was sure that she was glad, because right now it looked like she was drinking herself to the bottom of a liquor bottle and that she was certainly in the mood for some company. He couldn’t help but to wonder if this had something to do with Kaler, as his friend had kind of sort of said something about how he and Izzy had broken up, and how it hadn’t been an easy thing to do. However, it wasn’t his place to ask and he wasn’t going to. She was clearly thinking about him, though, as she moved her petite body closer to his and asked him if he wouldn’t rather be doing something rather than just standing there. Well, of course. That was the whole reason that Kade had come over here, but he had more manner and thoughtfulness to him than to just jump the woman. Sure, if they had been drinking and partying together and had built up that lust and anticipation, things would be different, but he had literally just walked into her house two minutes ago. Maybe some guys could do that (not to mention any names, but Kaler Scott), but Kade was more of a backwoods boy that had been brought up to have at least some respect. Grin still in place, Kade let his hands go to Izzy’s hips and pull her in right up against him. “Better?” he asked before leaning down and letting his lips capture hers, the kiss hungry and skipping right over all those levels of softness and sweet to downright lustful and needy. He knew how to take a woman for himself, and he couldn’t wait to show Izzy just what he could do to her.

Izzy thought it was adorable how the older brothers in this town always were looking out for their younger siblings. Kaler was always looking out for Peyton, and then there was Jared being the big brother to his two little sisters, and she thought it was cute. Shit happened, but that was what she knew about life in that moment. She knew that there was always going to be people looking out for others, people falling in love, finding new friends, and she just seemed at a stand still. She was alone in the world that she was standing in, but that was how Izzy worked. She just knew how this was supposed to happen, but him whipping his shoes off and then taking them off was just adorable. Izzy was not the kind of girl to care about that kind of stuff, but hey at least she did not have to worry about snow being tracked through her house. It was appreciated though that even though she was perpetually drunk that people still cared about her house. Because up until Kade came over the house was a mess. She had just cleaned it all that day before she even called Kade. Izzy watched him as he smirked about her remark about him coming back to town, because she was content with this world..
The brunette had been working herself up and then drinking herself stupid. She was certain that Kade could tell that was what she was doing. She knew that Kaler had to have told him, because she saw the two of them in the bar the same night she got his number. That was the problem, she knew that the reason she was drowning her pain in tequila was because of Kaler. Her world had been tossed upside down in the fact that he was in love with Vidette. It was insane that she was walking in this downward spiral, but now that she had some company it was like coming up for air. She did not need to continue to think about Kaler, no she was there with Kade. Izzy knew that there was clearly something that the two of them wanted. It was the whole reason she had invited him over to her house, but there was something about him. He was nice, and he was trying to be sweet and it was refreshing. Because even though she had just called him over for sex, it was still nice to know that he was still people that cared about the heat. She felt his hands grab her hips, and then he pulled her in close to him. “Much, actually.”
and then his lips captured hers again with lust and passion. This was the reason that Izzy invited him over, and she was glad that he was taking charge. It was nice to have him there, and then her fingers were roaming against him as he held her close to his body. Finding the hem of his shirt, it was soon on the floor. She smirked as the kissed, and was glad that Kade really came over. She wanted him to bring the heat, and she knew he would not disappoint her. There was small part of Kade that felt like he was being swept back five years in time, at least. Throughout school, had had always been that boy that all the girls were crushing on, and in high school he was the one that was known for breaking their hearts. Kade didn’t try to be careless, and didn’t aim to be a total and complete asshole about it, but he was male, and there were certain goals in his mind. Player wasn’t really the most correct term for what Kade had been, but he had certainly enjoyed the company of many young women, and he had never really had to look all that hard to find it. He had a certain charm and charisma about him that seemed to work greatly in his favor, and Kade knew how to flirt and chat up a lady. It had been the way that he worked for a while, until he had fallen in love with one of his best friends. Brittany Hale had been like no other woman Kade had ever encountered in his life, their feelings developing for each other over the years until they were impossible to resist. She was it for him, but that was a different story entirely. The point was that Kade hadn’t been back at this game, and standing there now kissing Izzy the way that he was made him feel like it was a whole different time, back before all the heartache and drama. And you know what? He really, really liked the way that felt. If she could use him to clear her mind of Kaler, he could use her for that.
He felt her pull start to raise his shirt over his body, and Kade pulled back just to let her remove it from him completely and then take his turn and pulling her shirt off, fingers eating up that feeling of her bare skin beneath them. Then he was pushing her back against the nearest wall, lips on hers again before they moved down her neck, touching on her collarbone before moving to that newly exposed skin of her chest. His hands roamed up and down her sides, but then came to remove the barrier of clothing that existed there in the form of her bra, fingers skilled in that sometimes challenging maneuver. Kade was then working to remove her of her pants, lips still roaming over her skin and breasts as he worked. As for location of where this was going to happen, he was depending on her a little more for that one as he had never been inside of this house before and really only new where the foyer was because he was currently standing in it. After that, Kade was clueless and let Izzy take the lead there, but otherwise he was doing a good job of stripping her down and doing what a man should with such a fine example of the female body, which was truly appreciating it and making this completely worth their while. He could feel the want and need for her burning in his body, each touch and kiss becoming more urgent.

[ In this moment she was really glad that Kade had decided to come over. His fingers were quickly pulling the clothes off of her body, and feeling his fingers dance across her skin was enough to pull her out of the funk that she was in. She was the same girl that she was before Kaler, and she knew that. She knew that she had what it was to please a man that was not completely fucked up and in love with someone else. She knew it was wrong to blame it all on Kaler, but that relationship was the last thing she wanted to think about as she felt Kade’s lips against her skin. She was racing to get him out of his clothes as fast as he was with hers. She felt his lips roam all along her body, making it very hard for her to concentrate on what it was she was going to need to do. Thankfully she was able to pull herself out of this moment long enough to start to lead Kade up to her bedroom. It was difficult as there was still clothes to be lost as they hurried up the stairs to fulfill the want and need that was burning between them. Both of them wanting this more and more as each kiss became urgent and necessary. And thankfully she was able to get them to her bedroom where it was like floating on clouds as they both let their physical needs out weigh any mental need.
Izzy lay there next to Kade in her bed that was just as comfortable as ever. It was her own little piece of heaven, and she was quite thankful that this man had shown her a good time. He definitely knew how to please a lady, and that was the funny thing about him. He had made this all worth her while, and she was positive that she had done the same. If there was one thing that Izzy knew and knew well it was how to please a man. Her blue eyes looked over at Kade and she smiled. “Definitely appreciating you being back in town. I cannot believe that this is the first time that I am actually getting to know you. I thought I knew all of his friends, but I can say you were a nice surprise.”
It was not a lie, she was glad that she had left one friend out and that she was getting to know him a little bit over an encounter like this. Izzy was a brilliant hostess though, and though she was perfectly content laying there, she did want to get to know Kade a little bit. He seemed like someone that she could definitely do this again with. “Do you want to stay for dinner? I know it is completely random and all that shit, but I would really like the company and if your lucky we could definitely do this again. I am actually a really good cook, I just want some company. But if baby sister needs tended too I understand.” So she had more than one reason to keep him around, because that was some of the better sex that she had ever had, but she was tired of being alone. She just needed some one else to be around for a little bit. [/blockquote] ______________________

There was something about being able to lose yourself in another person that was just fantastic. It didn’t matter if you knew this other person or not; all that mattered was getting lost for a little while, forgetting where your body ended and where theirs began, and not having the room in your mind to think of anything except for the fulfillment of those strong, animalistic needs. People did it for all kinds of different reasons. Some said it was just for the sake of the score, but the truth of the matter was that most people were, underneath of all the bravado and fronts, lonely. No one wants to admit that they need people, need that human touch, but everyone does in some way or another. It was probably a truth that everyone realized deep down, but it was more honest than what most people were willing to be. Kade knew what his own reasons for coming over here were, but none of it seemed to matter. What had mattered was the way that she had felt in his arms, her flesh around his and how they had both seemed so caught up in an intimate moment shared with someone that was basically a complete stranger. She had led him upstairs and to her room, where they had collapsed onto a very comfortable bed and shut the rest of the world out for a little while, and it was really more than what could have possibly been asked for out of an experience like this.
Kade had figured that she was a woman that would be good at this. After all, she had been chosen by Kaler and Kade knew his friend well enough to know what his initial intentions had been. Izzy had been a special treat, though; Kade had to admit that much. Kade didn’t need to be told that he had done as much for her as she had for him, a small smirk gracing his lips as he lay there beside of her, mind reflecting back on them just moments before. He only turned his head when she spoke, hazel eyes finding the smile on her lips first before he looked up into her beautiful baby blues. He had to grin, though. “Well, I am glad to know that at least one person appreciates my return.” That wasn’t completely true, but it might as well have been. There were plenty of people in this town that were not pleased that he had had the gall to show up in these parts again. He was actually surprised that Izzy hadn’t heard talk of it, but then again, he wasn’t completely sure that she hadn’t. And, in reality, there were a lot of people that were glad to see him home. Just not enough to make up for those that weren’t. Her next offer honestly took Kade by surprise, though. She wanted him to stay for dinner? Kade took a moment to consider it, then offered her one of those killer Trent smiles that they all seemed to possess. “Baby sister will probably be glad to not having me around for an evening. I have this tendency to be, what’s the word, overbearing?” He laughed softly at his own word, knowing it to be true but Kay knew why he was that way. “Dinner sounds great. What are we having?” The two of them were then finding their clothes to put back on and headed or the kitchen, where Izzy concocted some kind of soup that Kade had never heard of before, and he thought he had definitely seen it all. He helped when he could, grabbing things that she asked him to and providing the company that she had seemed to need him for. She was easy to talk to, and Kade could see what her appeal had been all too clearly.

[ There was something about Kade that was easy in a way that it had never been in her life before. He was able to make her completely lose site of what was bothering her, and she was not that way. If something was bugging her it was hard for her to wrap her head around anything else, and that was the reason that she had ended things with Kaler. It had been her own doing, but as she felt his skin against hers she was totally lost in the moment. It made things easier for her, and sure there was something about having sex with a total stranger that was always awkward, but yet it felt like she knew him in a way. She could not place her finger on it, but that was the reason that she had asked him to stay. Sure she could use a little bit more of the whole fiasco that was the reason he was there, but she needed some human interaction. Ever since the break-up, Izzy had basically shut herself off from the world. Sure she had spent some time with Grey, and even hit the night club a few times, but she was not open to actually talking to people about this. Kaler was always going to be a touchy subject, but thankfully Kade knew. He knew that it not only upset her, but he knew Kaler’s feeling about the whole thing. Izzy had always been good in bed, she knew how to work a man and please him. After all that was the whole reason that Kaler had initially stuck around, but then he had wormed himself into her life in a way that she could not get rid of. It was hard to think about this all, but that was how it worked. But Kade, well that man knew how to work her body and give her everything that she was craving. It was nice to have a man read her that well, and a nice treat if she did have to say so.
When she spoke to him, she could see the doubt in his eyes. There had to be a back story to Kade that she was missing, but she was a bartender in a very small town. She had heard everything there was to hear about the people that inhabited the town, but nothing about Kade. She could not imagine people not being happy about him coming home, because if it were Izzy returning to New York, well she knew she would be welcomed by the few friends she had kept. There were very very few, but they were there. She looked at him with disbelief, because she knew there were people that were happy he was home. She had her own selfish reasons to be happy. “Well you can always count on me to welcome you back Kade. That may just be for my own selfish pleasure, but what the hell. You know you’d take my welcome home party any day.”
She let out a laugh as she started to look around for her clothes. She listened to him talk about his sister, but that smile reminded her of someone. She could not place where or how she knew it, but it was familiar. Maybe she knew him or knew about him and it was just pushed from her memory. Either way, she was glad that he was staying for dinner. She fumbled around the stairs grabbing all of the important pieces of clothing, but she left her shirt on the counter as she made her way to the counter. The funny thing about the brunette was that she loved cooking, but she cooked mostly naked. It was weird, but since she had a guest she had adorned most of her clothing. “We are having baked potato soup, and you will love it. For some reason, no one in this town has heard of it! It is wonderful, my mom always made it.” So the two of them worked well together, Kade helping when she needed him too. Mostly it was just to help her get stuff down because she was so damn short. But he was just the right company that she needed, finishing up the soup she grabbed bowls and spoons and led the way to her little table. “Thank you, for staying. Otherwise, I would have been passed out on my couch from drinking too much tequila...again. If it isn’t too personal, where did you go when you left? Anywhere in particular or just running from something that bothered you?” The idea of running had been playing in her mind lately, but she was not about to leave. Isobel Caulfield had a lot more fight in her to give up and run.[/blockquote] ______________________

Kade had to say that he never expected to get a meal out of this, but he wasn’t upset about that either. He was the kind of guy that would eat all hours of the day and never gain an ounce, attributing that to a very good metabolism and the fact that he was just an active kind of guy that got fidgety if he sat around too long. He liked to run, or do whatever it took to get a workout around these parts. His mother, Marion Trent, had had five children to raise that were all like Kade in that way, eating all the time and constantly on the go. It seemed that when she was home, she was always cooking so that her children would have something to go on when her and Rob were not able to be there to cook for them do to their hours at their respective jobs. Even now she was always cooking up something, but she loved what she did at the Trent Bed and Breakfast. Kade had been planning on swinging by there later on that evening to grab a plate or two of what she had made for dinner, but he was completely okay with sticking around Izzy’s to see if she was really as good of a cook as she claimed to be. Kade thought that she seemed like a very capable kind of woman, though, and had faith in her abilities. He had never had this soup that she was making before, but it looked and smelled pretty damn good and he would try anything once.
Izzy lead the way to the table, setting the bowls and spoons and Kade taking a seat there. He picked up his spoon and stirred the contents of his bowl around, watching as the steam rolled up off of it and decided that it was best to wait and let it cool rather the burn his mouth right away. As Izzy started speaking, Kade’s attention went to her. He laughed just a little at the thought of her already being passed out on the couch drunk again. Kaler always said that alcoholism was a bartender’s occupational hazard, and Kade guessed that he was right even though Izzy had her other reasons for drowning herself with that bottle of tequila right now. She asked him where he had gone when he left, and why he had done it, basically. He was still amazed that she didn’t know, but he didn’t seem the harm in answering her questions. “I didn’t really have a place in mind when I left. I was in Portland for a little while, but I didn’t stay one place for too long. I was in Boston, New York…eventually ended up down in Wilmington, North Carolina before I turned around and came back.” Kade had bounced from place to place, sticking to the coast but finding so much along the way. It had been the kind of thing that he needed, but as Izzy said, he had been running. “And really, I don’t know how you’ve managed to live here and not hear the infamous story of Brittany Hale and Kade Trent. I thought that one would be legend by now.” It certainly seemed to be common knowledge to the rest of the town….unfortunately.

[ Izzy knew that she knew how to cook, hell her best surprise for Kaler had been a chocolate cake that she had baked for his birthday. She may not like to slave away in the kitchen, but she knew how to cook and was damn good at it. Not many people knew that about the brunette who had slipped her shirt back over her head before actually starting to eat. She had just sat there staring at the soup that was in front of her, because honestly Izzy hardly had any appetite these days, her main thing was drinking herself to the bottom of the nearest bottle of liquor. It was easier to lose bits and pieces of the hurt that way, especially if she had to work. Those were the worst days, because she had to spend hours on end with him and not get affected. If that happened, she was normally found walking over to Grey’s with the bottle in her hand. He had put up with her on many drunken nights and nursed her hangover in the morning. It was the way she worked, and she hated to have to explain herself to other people whenever she ended up on some random people’s floor. She had spent a few of those nights on Miranda James’ floor, but that was how it worked.
She did not know if Kade would talk to her about why he left, but she hoped that he would. Izzy could use some insight, because she honestly had no reason to be in this town. She had bounced around as her own little being from all over the place. No one knew the different ivy league schools she attended, or that she had a degree. Most people just saw the girl who was trying to escape a life that she had hated in New York. She listened to him carefully, but smiled whenever he mentioned New York. “ I grew up in New York, actually. My mother was a police officer. But you had no where in particular to go? Really? How long did you stay in each place?”
Maybe what she needed was to get away from Arietta for a while. It would be a way of starting over. She could always come back if she wanted too. It wasn’t like anyone would really miss her, because all of her friends were Kaler’s. If it came down to picking sides they would all pick his and she knew that. But she hated the idea of running, and then he spoke again. The story that was legendary in the town, but she had never really paid attention to it. It wasn’t her place, but she knew the basics. She just had no idea that it was the man that was sitting in front of her that was the other half of this story. “Well I am pleased to have a celebrity in my house. I’ve heard the basics, but I wasn’t around for it. I have no place passing judgement on needed to get away. Believe me, I know the feeling of wanting to run.” She pulled the spoon to her mouth and was glad to have the soup to keep her from saying something stupid. “Wait, you aren’t related to Jared, are you? Because I know him...of all the people to know in this town besides Kaler. You are the older brother though aren’t you?” It was finally clicking in her head where she saw that smile before and why he looked familiar. He reminded her of the soon to be married Jared Trent. It finally clicked in her head. [/blockquote] ______________________

Kade was rather surprised with the casual setting that he had just found himself in. Not too long ago he had showed up at this house with one thing on his mind, and then he and Izzy had proceeded to fuck the brains out of each other. That seemed to be the norm for situations like theirs, having that overwhelming need and desire and unleashing it on the first soul that was willing to do the same. Now they were sitting around Izzy’s table, her having prepared a meal of what looked to be some pretty damn good soup, and they were talking like none of the other had happened, like he was just an ordinary dinner guest with no other intentions. Of course, that wasn’t the case. Kade hadn’t been able to keep his hazel eyes off of her as she had prepared this soup wearing just her bra on top, and he kept her words in mind about being able to do it all over again. Whether that was after their dinner or a different day entirely, Kade didn’t know and he didn’t particularly care. Izzy was different, and he had to admit that getting to know her wouldn’t be a bad thing. She seemed interested enough in him and his story, and he would oblige and answer.
He was interested to hear that she had grown up in New York and that her mother had been a police officer there. Kade had been lucky enough not to draw the attention of the law to himself while he had been in the city, but it was a cool kind of fact just the same. He listened as she rattled off a few questions, a kind smile still on his lips. “No, nowhere in particular. When I left, I didn’t have a plan. I just…drove.” This had really been the most helpful to him and his state of mind he had been in then. The open road ahead of him gave him time to think, clear his head and realize his mistakes. Bouncing around from city to city, place to place gave him a change of scenery, and in a lot of cases a change of perspective. “And I didn’t really have a time limit set to each place. I was only in Portland for a week or so. Stayed longer in some places, others I just passed through. I did stay a good month in New York though. It’s a good city. Really…it didn’t take that long for a year to pass. Now it feels like I never left.” Arietta was a small town in which it often seemed like time stood still. Kade knew that there were things that had definitely changed, but in so many ways it felt exactly the same as before. Kade just smiled appreciatively as Izzy said she had no room to judge, because really there weren’t a lot of people in town that were choosing to look at it that way. She knew what he had done to Britt, and she wasn’t looking down her nose at him for it. It was…refreshing. But there it was, Izzy putting the pieces together and recognizing his name, knowing his family. He grinned. “Guilty. Even though I do sometimes try to deny my relation to Jared... guess you know him through Kaler, right?” Maybe he was pushing his luck with the last bit, but Kade was trying to be sensitive about her standing with Kaler, too. He picked up his spoon and took the first bite of the soup now that it had cooled. “Wow, this is good,” he said with a confirming nod of his head before a second bite.

[ Isobel was the kind of girl that was proud of her body, and just because she had someone in her house did not mean she was going to change much about the way she acted. She hated cooking with her clothes on, and she did not change it much. She at least put a bra on while they made the soup her mother had taught her to make. She could feel his hazel eyes all over her body, and something told her that her offer for going at it again was going to be taken up. She was desperately needing some kind of human interaction with someone besides herself and the patrons at the bar. She had taken a few days off to clear her head, because she was not capable yet to go back to working right beside Kaler every night. She knew that she loved him, and that was a string that was never supposed to have formed between the two of them. Unfortunately it had, and she knew that he felt it too. It was so hard to know that he loved someone else more than he loved her, but it was going to have to make her move on. Isobel Caulfield was not the girl that did that and she moved on. Which was why she was glad that Kade had decided to stay for dinner and keep her company. She was totally intent on fucking his brains out a few more times that evening, but she figured she could at least cook for him. Most men worked up an appetite after that kind of work out, and Izzy knew how to work a man with ease.
The brunette really tried not to talk about New York, because it was her least favorite place to be. She had made Arietta her new home, and was thankful for it. The brunette bounced around like it was nobodies business and hated to keep herself tied down for long. But the people here had welcomed her, and she finally felt accepted for who she was, not who her daddy wanted her to be. After her mother was killed, well things changed. She smiled at Kade, because those memories were going to be pushed to the side, just like her feelings for Kaler were going to be pushed away. Soon there would be many little compartments in her brain that were never going to be open again. “No where seems like a good idea. I think about doing it sometimes. I did it enough before I came here. So I understand what you mean. Driving is just a good way to clear your head.”
It was the truth. When she found herself needing to get away she just drove until she found a college that would take the brilliant brunette. She was extremely smart, but like her counterpart...ex-counterpart, she hated to show that side of her. She listened as he talked about the different places he stayed. He really was sounding like someone that would understand her, maybe even more than Kaler did. But that was breaking him out of his neat little box, and he was not going to inhibit her thoughts anymore. She for once was not downing tequila like it was water. “New York is great, but not to live in for a long time. I grew up there, and the crime is horrible. Believe me...my mom was killed in the line of duty, so that gives you an idea of what the town is really like. And I know the feeling. In college I bounced myself around. I attended I think three different schools, maybe four. I don’t really remember.” It was the truth, she just remembered that she had ended up back in Columbia and finished her forensics degree there. It had been worth it, but now she was in Arietta. Sure she had heard all the stories about Kade and Britt, she just did not think that she had run into that Kade. She smiled at the fact that she knew how she knew him, and it was funny. “Eh, Jared is a great guy. I hear he’s getting married next week. And yeah....i met him through Kaler. “ Saying his name made her upset, but whatever. She was thankful for the company, she smiled a little brighter when he said how awesome the soup was. “My mom taught me how to make it. She was where I learned to cook.” It was nice to have someone to talk too, someone who was not Kaler or someone who wanted to judge her because of what she had been doing lately. It was refreshing to have him there.[/blockquote] ______________________
